I had scheduled an appointment in advanced online. Where I can select from "avaliable" appointments. I made my appointment on 6/30 at 5:15. When i arrived early. Waited about 10 mins to check in which wasn't a big deal. The lady during that shift was utterly rude. Ignored customers. Lacked skills to handle situations. I had told her my appointment time she said it wasn't in her system and then I showed her my confirmation text message. She found my appointment and told me I was double booked. She refused to see me that day. Although I had booked the appointment a week in advanced. She was rude about it too with her facial expressions and tone. Aswell as misgendering the customer next to me. I told her I would leave and go somewhere else. Later today I recieved a text message stating I "missed " my appointment. When in reality I was refused to be seen. I took the afternoon off of work. So not only was it a waste of my time. I lost my money. Ever since the previous staff left the current staff does not know how to handle insurances, handle money, makes errors and have zero communication skills. All in all they should retrain their employees or hire ones that are experienced. That being said my family which have been going here for about almost 10 years will not be returning to this establishment. And if anyone were to ask about this location I would say go drive the extra 15 mins and go to arlighton hieghts. This location has gone down hill for the last 3 years. read more

While I was looking for my glasses another customer was expressing their frustration with the subpar service she has previously and was currently receiving. The lady working who was dealing with her explained that every customer she dealt with had a good experience but of course sometimes things happen. Thought that was highly unprofessional. She never acknowledged the customers complaint simply brushed it off because "other people have a good experience". Also they should really clean all the glasses they have on display. The staff was great but I had a bad experience with the prescription that I got. I came in 4 times for a contact prescription, I was seen by their eye doctor for it and he gave me a prescription and I went to the counter and they told me the eye doctor didn't order me trials cause it was the same prescription. I told them I have never been to vision works before nor did I bring my prescription so they ordered my trials. I went in three more times to alter the prescription cause I was struggling to see. Each time the prescription was altered the eye doctor told me to order it at the front and each time I was insistent on getting the trials. The last time I went I called my previous eye doctor to get my old prescription and it was 1.00 over what the eye doctor prescribed me. Not shocked why I couldn't see. I brought it in and the eye doctor just prescribed that prescription and told me that was the last time he would see me because I hit my alotted appointments. Needed a change in eye doctor went there 10 minutes early. We got there before the doctors and screening people were there. Then 25 minutes later we are still waiting there and still no doctors. Then a man comes out from the back swearing and banging on the counters. It's very unprofessional and rude to be that late and to be swearing and hitting counters in the lobby of your work place. However, using our debit card, it will take days to get our $$ back, meaning other payments, like our Auto loan, etc, will now bounce, unless we move money from our savings into our checking account. Good morning! I am 100 % certain that I have never left a review. However on today my appointment today I was greeted immediately, genuine and professionally by Doug! The next person that I had the displeasure of meeting was Adrian who obviously had someone piss in his cheerios and he thought that it was me. I gave him a gentle nudge to let him know that I could tell that something was bothering him at 09:00 in the morning and he then let me know that he didn't care and that he may get better later (his words) smh....at 09:07 am. So while I was writing this review, I thought maybe I'll give him another chance.....ha! No go! Adrian came from the office in the rear somewhere and if looks could "kill" I'm dead. Just pretty disheartening. We all have bad days but to put that "monkey" on your customers' backs is not a good look. If your insurance only allows you to go to Vision Works, save yourself the time and frustration and just go to their Hoffman Estates location. The difference between doctors and staff is like night and day! Here, I had received a rushed eye exam that took a whole 5 minutes from the doctor. When asked if I could see better between "option 1" or "option 2", I wasn't given enough time for my eyes to adjust. If I was on "option 2" and asked to see "option 1" again, the doctor would just move on to something else. I felt unconfident with my new contact prescription and had to go to their Hoffman Estates location for a second opinion. THE STAFF was the real problem here. Of all the nonsense I went through with them, the worst being THEY FORGOT TO GIVE ME BACK MY INSURANCE CARD! I went almost a week before realizing it wasn't in my wallet. I was relieved when I called the location and was told they still had it, however when coming back to pick it up I asked why no one had bothered to call me. Like my name is on the insurance card and my phone number is in their system! The manager told me that I had "walked out the door too quickly" after my appointment which quite honestly translates to the staff (manager included) is either too stupid or lazy to pick up the phone and make call. read more

Where to begin. I had to go in for FOUR exams, FOUR separate times and I still don't have the correct prescription. The doctor who checked the first THREE times was completely off. First he gave me a single vision that wasn't right. Then he gave me a progressive, which was even worse. Finally, he gave me another single vision and reading/ computer glasses; which was wrong. So, i demanded another doctor. This prescription is supposed to be the right one... I was forced into coming to try contacts I didn't want and the charged me $50! I had already spent $400 extra at this place. $100 extra for the frames, fine. But an extra $300 for the lenses. DO NOT GO HERE. Completely incompetent. The employees are just rude, talk about bad customer service. My brother purchased frames & lenses from this location - when we walked in we were not greeted or asked if we needed any help. We found frames he liked & the woman (Maggie) was so rude while taking the order. Just in the way she spoke & asked questions. She wanted to nothing to do with us, we were bothering her. So unprofessional - we have been looking for frames for 3 weeks, if we hadn't been all over looking, I would have left without purchasing from them. I can't even describe how awful this place is. I just paid $400 for progressive glasses and had the absolute worst customer service. They had two people working there who seemed entirely overwhelmed and didn't understand basic principles of their own policy. They have no inventory of lenses for the hour turn around and they tried to push digital lenses for $600 per lens. Listen to the reviews. Don't bother with this place. The one star is because it's next to Starbucks and I was able to get a latte to calm me down after I left this place. read more

Worst customer service location. The representative was rude and had a nasty attitude. It was very disappointing to see such a frustrated person right at the start of a New Year. I made the mistake of buying a pair of glasses for my daughter at this store. One of the glass broke. I was ready to buy the same frame again and was just simply expecting to have the prescription glasses transferred. After much discussion, over many visits and phone conversations, we settled on a deal on the frame. I was to bring the broken frame with the lens to do the change. When I visited on the spoken date (2nd Jan) there was this frustrated representative only and right on entry she was irritated to see more customers come in. She had no intention to help. The manager had no note on our account which he promised to put regarding all our discussions. And the lady said she will not be able to make the transfer of the old lens. She said even though its the same frame I was buying again, it might need to be sent to the lab and re-shaped to fit in. Also she did not offer me the price that was promised nor that was shown on the web site. I just bought the frame and left and happened to ask at Costco if they would be able to help. 2 mins at the Costco optical and wallah! I had the new lens set and sparkling clean ... As you can see from my recent posts, I'm particular about places that I have to entrust in especially if it has to deal with my well-being. Going to a doctors office, you want to feel secure...as if you can trust that one person with your life, literally. Going to an eye doctor, I have the same mind-set. Boyfriend and I have been talking about going to get our eyes checked knowing that we needed glasses. It's hard already to find eye doctors out there that would accept our insurance and in the end, we wouldn't have to pay so much for the binoculars. I was suggested to go here by a co-worker only because she had to get her eyes checked and "drove pass" this place and decided to go in. She didn't "hype" it up as if it was the best eye place to go to, but I was "ok" with it. (i just didn't want to do the research anymore) Our In-N-Out Experience: -we walk in -we "sign up" for an appointment -we walk back with a guy (could be in his younger 20's) -he tests our eyes with diagrams that looked like they came from a kaleidoscope, then decides to "fail" me when I couldn't make out some pictures -we walk around to look at frames -Doc calls us back and has us look at the eye chart -gives us our prescription -we pick out the cheapest frames (that were also on promo by them) WALKED OUT $500 SHORTER!! My experience didn't sound too enthusiastic did it? Well.....to be honest, it wasn't. The "kids" that were checking our eyes just seemed like they didn't know what they were doing. And if they did know what they were doing....showing me some pictures that looked distorted should not tell any one person that my eyesight is shot. For the doctor to be eating as i'm entering his "office"...let me back track, did i tell you he screams your name as if you pulled a number and then walks away. I heard my name, but didn't see anyone until my boyfriend says "i think you got called". I don't have much experience with eye doctors since this is only my second experience....but I don't think this experience was "normal" to say the least. We were greeted by Mahveen immediately when we walked into the Schaumburg location. She was so friendly and welcoming. She took care of us right away. During my exam, Melissa Spoula answered all of my crazy questions and provided recommendations on eye drops for my dry eyes. She took her time and explained to me the prescription she was giving me, because it was changing slightly from the last one. She was great and definitely knowledgeable. After my exam, Charlie explained my insurance benefits with me and was very helpful with quick responses of how much each frame would cost. It takes me a long time to make a decision about glasses because they need to look right, especially when you wear them 24/7. Diana, Mahveen and Charlie walked around the store with me (for what seemed like an hour) pulling different frames they thought would look good (and within my budget) so that I could try them on. I must have tried on 3 dozen pairs and with their helpful opinions I was able to select a GREAT pair. The best part is, they were LESS THAN HALF the price that I paid for my first pair of glasses, which I bought a year ago and at a totally different place. read more

They have a current offer for a 42 dollar eye exam and they have a 20/20 card. where you get 50 percent off of new glasses and 20% a years worth of contacts. Since my moms a frugal filipino, she wanted to see all her options. The guy helping us was very patient and made sure that she got all the information she wanted. I walked in and told an employee I was looking to get new contacts but I hadn't gone to this location before. She told me she'd have to call the location I went to before. I couldn't remember where I went last and she gave me a dirty look and basically said she couldn't help me without a prescription. Poor customer service. She easily could have pulled up other locations and tried to help me find where I was last and told me it wouldn't be an issue. I was in the store for less than a minute. Won't be coming back here. First of all; I went to visionworks in Schaumburg next to Kumas Corner inside the Woodfield Village Green shopping center. Worst eye doctor experience ever! I do not and will not recommend them to anyone. Ever. They were rushed from the moment I walked in the door. The girl who did the pre-test and intake was explaining a test to me and the OPTOMETRIST walked in and started telling her how to do something for next time, instead of waiting until she was done with me then talking to her. That was rude. Then the intake girl said go ahead look at some frames and when the doctor is ready he'll call you ok. So I did. Then 5 minutes later the optometrist called me back and the entire exam was rushed, he would talk over me didn't seem to care much about the fact that I feel like a blind human. Next he says ok stick more toward smaller glasses and sends me on my way to pick frames and the intake girl helps me out and I sit with yet another lady so she can give her "honest opinion" on what I look like with the frames I chose and that the intake girl chose for me. I'm trying on 5 frames then pick out the top 3 and this lady flat out told me no those don't match your face the other ones look prettier which I just stared at her like ok soooo what if I wanted those. So noooowwwww i feel under pressure to just pick and go since my entire experience was rushed. Finally we get to pay part so she says ok your insurance covered 180 today. Your out of pocket is 136$, will that be credit or debit. I was like um ok debit. So she swipes gets my receipts and sends me on my way. No one had anycare to let me know what exactly I was paying for, so I go home and look at the receipts and I have a premium package on my lenses. I DID NOT ASK FOR THAT I JUST ASKED TO BE ABLE TO SEE AGAIN. Side note: my glasses won't even be ready until the 20th. America's Best has them ready in a week Lesson learned. This visionworks is absolutely shitty! They rush you, and could care less what your looking for in your experience in their office. I completely regret wasting 136$ on glasses I really didn't want. Their service so bad and they employee are so rude. When I pick up my glasses the flame was so bad I could not wear it without scratching my face. But they were going to ignored it until I complained to them and they told me that they will order new flame and give me a call back when it arrive and told me to take the glass anyway (I told them I don't want it since I can't wear it). I waited little more than 3 weeks but did not received the call from them. I went to store and see what is going on and they told me that flame will be in about 3 weeks. About 2 weeks later they left me a message that the flam is in. I went to store to get flame (they were going to change the lens) but when I got to the store, they have bunch of customer waiting and since I did not want to wait (it seems like it will take more than 1-2 hours) with only one manager and one new employee there. So, I were going to explain to them I am going to leave the flame and will come back later for pick up when it is ready. The store manager was so rude and did not want to hear even one word. I just walked out and I still have damaged glass. I think I am going to call my insurance and my credit card company for chargeback. read more

I'm not very impressed with this location. I came here for a glasses prescription/check-up. They had a deal for $19.99, which is a steal for sure. I made the appointment pretty easily. I had to cancel because something came up, and the receptionist was a little angsty about it. I rescheduled, and came on time. I had submitted my paperwork online, but nothing went through so I had to redo it all in person. Then I had to wait a while to get in. The waiting room is in a hallway, I wouldn't even call it a waiting room. Finally when I saw the doctor, he did not seem very competent. It took forever to do everything (when I went to another location later, they were much faster and seemed more confident). When I was waiting for my eyes to be dilated, I didn't have glasses on or contacts in (so basically I was blind). The doctor told me to go out and look around at glasses. One, I'm not buying my glasses here. Two, I can't even see. It was just odd. I did get a glasses prescription, and it was cheap. But I wouldn't come back to this location again. In fact, when I needed contacts I went to another location, and they were much better. The staff here are unorganized, slightly rude, and the doctor doesn't seem like he knows what he is doing. read more

I kept asking them how much it was going to cost and they would not give me an answer, they just kept saying well you will find out when we know what you need. I arrived for my appointment five minutes early and was in the store only for two minutes before I walked out due to rude staff. In those two minutes my personal information with shouted across the entire room, I was asked questions from over 20 feet away that everyone elsecould hear, and my insurance card was literally thrown at me while being informed that my insurance was really not my insurance. It is unfortunate for them, as I was prepared to buy at least two pairs of glasses and contact lenses, dropping over $1000 in the store. Instead, I walked out due to poor customer service. Visionworks agreed to ship my contacts to my residence. After going over and over the prescription numbers in the store, the employees carelessly ordered the wrong contacts. When I received the wrong contacts I let the store know, and they were more concerned with getting them back than with helping me get the correct product. When I called to check on the status of my order, the woman who ordered the wrong contacts, Stacy, was extremely rude to me. They made the mistake, but have made very little effort to correct it. It has been more than 4 weeks now and I still have not received the product, despite having already paid. It has been 3 weeks since I alerted them to the error. I have been wearing my trial pair of contacts much longer than I should be at this point because I still have no new contacts to replace them. UPDATE: Visionworks informed me that they were waiting until they got the wrong contacts back to send me the correct ones. Outrageous. It was their mistake. More problems with this store and in particular its General Manager "Karen." My son's lens have changed color with a slight brown hue. Karen, the rude GM on staff this weekend, blamed it on us. I have no idea what could possibly make lens brown, but of course its my fault. Even with the purchased extended warranty, I was charged $10. Karen is a perfect example of poor customer service, as a GM I expected much better. OK, so I go into the office to pick them up later that afternoon. Other staff quickly realized that the dark black frames are actually leeching brown onto the cleaning rag and lens at every cleaning. What? The frames are leeching brown color? Now this seems very credible. So its not my fault, its the cheap frames they are using. Guess that's why I had to pay a co-pay. Of course I've already fought the GM, who wouldn't budge from the copay. I very much dislike this store and Karen the GM. Don't go here, its not worth it. The specials aren't really specials (see my previous review on this), so its just easier and safer to see a real eye doctor. Update, August 2011. No one from Visionworks ever called. O geeze, I wish I would have seen these reviews prior to going in there! Serves me right not looking up what my fellow yelpers had to say! Ah, poor customer service. They are great about getting your order but there's no follow through... none what so ever. I ordered a pair of glasses that were supposed to be in stock.. waited 2 weeks then I called to follow up, they said it would be another two weeks since they are on back order, so I waited patiently for another two weeks and called (I was quite pissed by then) and I was informed that they have been discontinued. SO I complained to the GM who had a pair of the glasses I wanted originally in the next day! Unfortunately they had scratches on them and I really didn't want a pair of glasses hundreds of people have tried on.. So all in all, thanks for wasting my time Visionworks - I WONT BE BACK! read more

Wish I had read all these reviews before I went. Guess I am lucky to have walked out without spending any money. My sister and I were shopping for frames,once we selected the frames we were interested in, we let the girl at the counter know we were ready. She told us she was with another customer and it would be a little bite before she could get to us. Finally the manager was free and the girl I made contact with told her we were next. She came over to let us know that a customer that had come in after us needed her help and it would only take 5 minutes. I was not happy but we waited. It took around 15 minutes to serve this customer and when she was finished, she spent another 5 minutes fixing the credit card machine. We had now waited almost one full hour to be waited on. We walked out and she made no attempt to stop us. The store was poorly staffed and poorly trained. Two sales people and one guy that was not waiting on customers, did not check in patents for the doctor clinic. I am not sure what he was doing. The manage was not in control of the situation and many people were frustrated. Will not be back read more
