Nice, experienced staff. Reasonably large selection of frames running the gamut from $70 - $250+. Lenses likewise run from about $100 - $400+ for progressives with various coatings. Alas, I only needed to update my Rx lenses (loved my 2 yo frames from VisionWorks). I was quoted a price of nearly $300 for replacement progressive lenses including a modest discount (no insurance). Again, these were originally from here. I stopped by Costco and got the same progressive lenses quoted (but now including both scratch and UV coatings) for just $130 + $25 non-store frame-fitting fee. End of story! read more

Visionworks is open everyday. I liked how easy it was to get an appointment. The eye Exam section is away from the retail section. The staff take a thorough medical history and do all the checks. They have the fancy retinal imaging. The doctor is equally thorough. I got some secondary scrutiny due to something that was borderline. Visionworks is owned by VSP so using your insurance is easy. I was advised that one of the retail staff was especially good at helping choose glasses frames. She was. The third pair she selected were the ones I went with. (I tried on several more to make sure and she didn't get impatient.) My glasses were projected to take 2 weeks but only took 8 days. I have progressive lenses and, if they're made even a millimeter wrong, I get seasick. These were perfect right out of the gate. They could have more of a variety of non-plastic frames (with the nosepads) but everywhere seems to focus on the plastic, it's not just Visionworks. There are other good places to get glasses, but Visionworks is one of them. read more

I really dislike how many email and text reminders they send for your appointment, before and after they call to confirm your appointment. I showed up 15 minutes before my appointment and wasn't seen for the pre-exam until 20 minutes after my appointment time. Once my pre-exam was done, I sat and waited about 4 minutes in the lobby, then was taken into the exam room and waited another 30 minutes before the Dr came in. Dr Patel was fantastic and made the wait actually worth it. He is very kind, professional and took extra time to explain and answer my questions. The front desk associate Chris is absolutely lovely and she was so kind, along with the gal who did the pre exam. The guy that helped with my frames was also patient and very nice. read more

Even with vision insurance glasses and eye exams are very expensive here. I'm near sighted and needed a yearly exam, the eye exam was $59 and one pair of glasses runs around $400. I purchased them about 3 months ago and recently I noticed the glass lens was coming out of the frame and there was a line that appeared in the glass and it cost me $40 to get them fixed. read more

We have been coming to Visionworks for several years now, since our insurance changed. First we had bad experiences at another store, but since coming to the Park Place location, it can't get any better! Okay, my eye exam experiences are 'okay' but my family's experiences with eyeglass purchases have been amazing! The staff seem to recognize people from prior purchases and they work with people to help them understand the availability of items and their insurance. Most of my experience has been with Rene, he has been the BEST! When my mom feel, was injured bad, and broke her glasses without insurance, he helped her find the best deal to get her seeing again. During the COVID, stuff my daughter's insurance was expiring and we could not get in for an exam or appointment to order glasses. Rene squeezed us in and even made sure our eye exam information was correct with the provider. For Covid, they have appointments, masks and gloves and temp checks for everyone. I understand that it is close to school time so most every appointment is full. I really encourage you to check out the website before you go in the store to get a head start on your preferences. The issues with website are terrible connection to your in-store purchases and cannot get insurance to work. Also I could not schedule purchases online, only exams. Look out for the 2 pair specials for a cheap price on close out frames, it is the best way to get decent readers. read more

Never again. THE DR. TRIED TOUCHING MY EYE WITHOUT EXPLAINING THAT SHE WAS GOING TO TOUCH MY EYE. I've Been going here for years. Feels like there's new management and the whole place is COLD. Was never greeted when I walked in. That really sets a tone for most of my negative interactions. You have to pass two desks to get to the dr. Not one person cared why I was there or that I was there. I filled out the paperwork online, they couldn't get it so I re did it in person. Heard the two desk ladies talking and they both couldn't wait to go to lunch. Fair me too, but the tone was clearly set by the person taking me back. The lady took me for the normal eye checks and was clearly not happy to be there. She then decided to take her time and go out of her way to be as cold as possible. NO ONE likes the puff test. In the past that hasn't been a problem. Today it was the end of the world. I was given my prescription and I ran out of there very upset. Wish I could give a zero. read more

I specifically asked for and paid for a year supply of contacts after my eye exam. When I received the order it only had a 6 month supply when I returned to ask, they tried to charge me more money for the contacts that were promised to me. They did not apologize but they refunded my money. Poor customer service. Never again. read more

Great place to get an eye exam and eyeglasses made. From exam to new glasses in less than 14 days. I have had them make me different use pairs. They made me glasses just for computer use only corrected up to five feet progressives. Another pair corrected to 10 feet for TV time and a pair of normal corrections. All progressive lenses. Buy one get one free makes this possible. It's great if you need the progressives and don't like trying to find the focal point over a super long range or your neck hurts from trying to watch TV through just the right spot in your progressives. If you have insurance (VSP for me) I've got glasses and frames for under $100. Check them out. read more

I have literally been going here since it was located inside Parkplace mall. I came in today for my annual exam that I had scheduled a year ago and since I had 'only confirmed it online and via text message' (what the woman at the desk stated) they said that they could not see me and had not saved the appointment since I had not called to confirm it. Enormous waste of time. I live over half an hour away. Nobody had tried to call me or reach out to me. I will never be back here. Highly unprofessional! read more

Because my grown daughter wanted to go to just one store and not shop around for frames, I recommended Visionworks because they seem to have the largest selection. (They have an online virtual try on tool as well.) She was able to have her exam at the site, and I was surprised when they were ready within days! I am a repeat customer of Visionworks, having used them for the past two years. I am happy with my optometrist, and wanted to schedule my yearly exam with her again. I called the store and learned that I can no longer talk to anyone on the phone, because..."covid," the universal excuse for doing nothing! I had to make an appointment on-line. So, I did not have a bad experience, I just felt like I was there for an awful long time and didn't even pick out any glasses. I had an appointment on a Sunday at 3pm. I arrived 10-15 minutes early like I was told. At around 3:30 they called me back for the initial eye screen, where they blow the air in your eye and have you look through the machines. Then I went back to the waiting area and waited for another 30 minutes. I saw the optometrist and she was great. I do understand that they were very busy that day, but after seeing the optometrist, she dilated my eyes, I saw her for the wrap up around 4:20 so I was finally able to leave by around 4:30. I did have a little bit of time to look for glasses but I truly felt that I had been there for so long, I just wanted to leave. The gals up front and the employees in the eyeglass area were also really nice I just felt that I spent over an hour waiting and really only 20 minutes being seen. read more

I recently had an eye exam and new glasses ordered after having not had glasses for 17 years as I had Lasik done in 2003. I guess it doesn't last. In any event, the first script didn't work for me at all, but they had me come back, gave me what I wanted with no extra cost to me at all. Refunded me the first cost, and then recharged me for the new one. And it saved me $150.00. I wasted nearly 400.00 bucks after upgrades! I brought 2 pair of gasses and over 7 months later I still don't wear them. I was having a hard time adjusting to them by both strength and style. but I eventually called 45 days later but it was over the 30 day guarantee they told me all they can do is adjust the frame. The biggest issue is The frame keeps slipping down to my eye level I see the top of the lens. It's really annoying. I went in today pleading to do something but they said the policy states 30 days still. I was hoping in good faith they could see I still wasn't happy they would do something but FAT CHANCE! Unless you are rich and willing to take a chance save your money don't come here. The employees are nice just not business friendly read more

Meh. It's ok. I should have just gone to Costco. Brought in my prescription - I just need something for a little bit of distance, like when I'm driving or attempted to look smarter while sitting in the back of the room. Since they aren't "all the time" glasses, I checked out the clearance section. Found some 'ok' frames, then proceeded to wait to check out. And wait... and wait... and wait... Finally, guy comes to me. Heavy upsell on the fancier lenses. Nope, these are just some cheap glasses, in case I decide to become a hipster this year. I definitely saw his attention wane (and expedition of my process) when I declined the more expensive options. Came back on the day that they were supposed to be done - no "one hour" turn around here, took about 5 days. Came in to pick up... and waited... and waited... The woman before me had been waiting even longer than me, and she was pretty DONE with the waiting and let management know it. Turns out, the lenses that come with it really do suck. Heavy (even with almost no Rx) and I see stars at night (and I don't mean Ryan Reynolds. Sadly.) Anyway, if you're in a hurry go to Lencrafters. If you're looking to save some $, go online or to Costco. And if you said "meh" then come here. read more

I brought my business here because I am picky and found a frame I really liked. Unfortunately it was a name brand frame that was quite pricey. So I tried shopping online first (eyebuydirect) which didn't work out well for me. Their lenses had warped anti glare coating, causing dizziness, and the replacement pair from eyebuydirect were vertically misaligned to my pupils, causing dizziness, according to an optician at Visionworks. Two opticians helped me there. One helped me find the perfect thick plastic-like frame with nosepads. The other worked with me in fitting. I trusted them completely until I put on my $290 glasses (vs $40 online ones) and felt dizzy. This time the response was not - misalignment or coating warping - it was that it takes a week for your eyes to adjust to the new glasses. I left feeling uneasy and unsure whether or not I'd been duped into returning perfectly good $40 online glasses that I hadn't been told to give a week for eye adjusting. Either way I like the expensive frames more - just not sure I like them $250 worth more. It has been a week and my eyes have adjusted. I've received many compliments on my glasses including people thinking I've lost weight. The opticians are very good at helping you choose frames. read more

I've always had good experiences here. I went to an optometrist in a big box store and was treated so badly that I begged Visionworks to help me. They did and then some! The eye exam was very thorough and the optometrist is a really nice guy who was playing old folk music that I really enjoyed. I'm a pretty small person and need children's frames, which there was a great selection. The sales staff helped me pick the right ones, dealt with me when I was indecisive and adjusted my frames when they were slipping down my nose. I have been using Visionworks at Park Place Mall for my glasses and my husband's for about 20 years. For the last year I thought I was getting cataracts in my right eye because the vision was suddenly so blurry. Well, when I went for my annual exam, my doctor said my eye was fine and the reason I couldn't see clearly was that Visionworks made the right lens much too strong. When I went in to talk with them about it, they told me that what they made was "within tolerances." Due to the fact that my vision was so impaired, I didn't feel it was within tolerances at all! It is a precise measurement, and there should be no reason not to make the lens exactly as needed. They got very rude and basically washed their hands of any responsibility. I will NEVER give them my business again, and would certainly recommend that people avoid them, their slipshod work, and their rude employees! read more

I have done business with Visionworks for either 3 or 4 years and felt they are customer service great. I buy my grandson eye glasses from Visionworks and also buy the insurance for the glasses. I assumed the insurance was for a year. He broke the glasses(the dog tried eating them. The insurance is $30.00 per pair. I always buy him two pair. My granddaughter took a pair in to be repaired and I was charged $30.00 for the repair. I called and asked why the change and was told that one repair per insurance claim. I explained to him that I had never been charged before, he replied I guess you were pretty lucky. I called back the next day to tell them don't repair them cause he is due to be tested September and was told they had been sent off all ready. Now I have a pair of glasses that he will wear for a short time. I was so disappointed, the young man took great pleasure in telling me that i was out of luck. If the insurance has changed I should have been told. I will ask more questions next time, just not there. read more

I wish I would have read the other review before I went to Visionworks. I just had a very similar experience. I went use my insurance on the last day of 2014 and had no complaints or changes in my vision. Yet, they said I need bifocals, after I clearly and repeatedly said I can read fine, everything is clear up close. I ultimately surrendered to what I mistakenly thought was the eye doctor's "expertise"...despite the suspicion that he never listened a single word I said. Well, when I went to pick up the glasses after an 8 day wait, I was met with blurry vision in both distance and reading! The new glasses actually made BOTH fields worse than what I walked in with! And then they seemed surprised that I expected to see atleast as well as I did before I entered their door. I waited about an hour for a re - exam and I can't say I'm too confident in what the next pair will show. Like the previous reviewer, they told me one eye has magically rejuvenated itself and improved since my last prescription. Really? I've already scheduled another eye exam at Lens Crafters. I have no confidence in Visionworks. I like the frames and they guy who helped me find them, but the quality of their exams and lenses is unacceptable. Never go to Visionworks if you need an eye exam!!! My vision has not changed in years but my lenses were scratched, since prescriptions expire after a year I made an appointment at Visionworks to get an updated prescription. To their doctor, that must have translated into me saying my vision changed and I need a whole new prescription. His chair-side manner was terrible, he doesn't speak much to his patients, nor does he listen. As a result he informed me that one of my eyes had gotten better, and wrote me a new prescription. Since Visionworks, like most other places like it charge a fortune for lenses, I went to get my glasses made at a different store, Lecso (whom I very highly recommend). When I put them on I suddenly had double vision, a headache, pressure on my eye and I couldn't see or even read anything. I then returned to Visionworks demanding they fix this prescription right away. The same doctor did a 2 second exam and then told me that he "GUESSED" that my vision had gotten better than it really had, and so he wrote another prescription. I now had to pay for another pair of glasses to be made because apparently guessing is now part of optometry. Despite my experience so far I was confident it would be right this time. I was wrong. I tried to wear this pair for a few days in an attempt to get used to them, and as a result I had horrible headaches every single day I had them on. One day my headache was so intense I had to miss work. So I called Visionworks to explain to them what I had been through, and demand to see a different doctor. After being placed on hold for about 10 minutes I finally got an appointment with someone else. When that day came (my 10:45 appointment was actually 11:00 apparently), I got to see a far more competent doctor, who actually listened. He started my exam with my existing lenses and from there tried to see if my vision could get better. It didn't, because as I initially suspected, my vision has not changed!!! This was not the first time that the same doctor that I saw twice at the beginning of this ordeal has messed up my prescription. A few years ago, when he released my prescription for contact lenses, he wrote the magnification as 180, when it was actually supposed to be 80. That was a $300 mistake that I had to pay for. I had enough and complained to the store manager, who then thought it was acceptable to tell me that all of this was MY FAULT!!! I will never go to Visionworks again, and I strongly recommend nobody else does either. I plan to go to a real optometrist who has his own practice, not a store in the local shopping mall. The place leaves something to be desired, as it took me nearly 30 mins to be seen, and although it was a busy day they only had two associates.
