The FEC, as I call it, is really quite good, but there are a couple of misses. Hits 1. The optometrist is fantastic. Very helpful, explains everything in layman terms, and even shows you some key areas they look for. 2. The equipment is the latest. Awesome. 3. People in the store are very nice and professional. They know their stuff. 4. The glasses selection is solid, lots of options for women, men however... Miss 1. Men's glasses options. It's really limited compared to the women's options. And the brands, some offer really cool frames and modern ones, but at the eye center they are rarely there. I bought Dragon frames for my computer usage (recommend a separate glasses for that) and while they were hip, the really cool, latest and modern were not at the store. Ditto for many of their providers. You can't find a place in Tucson that offers this type of Eyewear. Bummer. You decide 1. It's pricey compared to LensCrafters, but the quality of the lens, frames and other items are better If you have vision insurance you will save here. If you are buying sunglasses please note thst many vision plans will not work with them. The most expensive Eyewear I bought there with progressive was Maui Jim sunglasses. I love them, but they are not cheap. The other frames were Dragon and Mont Blanc, blue ones which rock. Lastly this place is in a very busy shopping strip with a whole foods. There is plenty of parking on the other side of the bldg. read more

My favorite eye center! The women who set you up for eye tests and fit you for glasses are truly kind. They aren't pushy and definitely help you figure out what looks good on your face. They also help fix my glasses if they get a little bent out of shape. I have been going to Fashion Eye Center for years to purchase my glasses because they have the best selection and the staff is amazing! The Doc is good too! Haha! Dr Iverson was really rude. I wish he wasn't because I really like the staff. It seems like he has an issue with older women. I definitely caught a sexist/ageist vibe. The thing is, I'm not that old and he was talking to me like I was 80. And he isn't exactly a spring chicken. He has such a receding hairline you could watch a drive in movie on his forehead. He definitely has some issues going on and they show up when you're in that little dark room with him all alone. I stayed polite and focused on getting an eye exam and was counting the seconds until it was over. I liked the staff so much I was hoping to go back. They had another eye doctor (a woman) but she wasn't there very long and now unfortunately she's gone. I wonder if he was rude to her too. read more

Today Fashion Eyes lost 3 patients due to staff error and rudeness as well as laughing at the patient while on the phone. We have been loyal patients of Fashion Eyes, Dr. Iverson since 2009, never had any problems until today. While my daughter was at Fashion Eyes office the employee that was assisting, wanted to charge a my daughter an extra cost for a contact fitting that she didn't need, so my daughter told them that she would have to call her Dad before she can commit to any extra charges, she called-her Dad, gave the phone to her Dad, the staff explained to my husband that the extra cost is for contact fitting which is not required but should be done, my husband said, we've never been charged for this, why now, just then cancelled the fitting and to just complete the yearly exam paid by insurance. The employee became was very rude with my husband in addition after speaking with my husband she also had a attitude with my daughter as well. In addition, I had a appointment scheduled the next day and decided to cancel my appointment, the employee asked me if I wanted to reschedule, I replied, not at this time. She asked my to hold on, rude and inconsiderate staff, I could hear the staff in the background laughing and could hear the the employee I was speaking to say, I told you she would call to cancel and laughed. So I asked her if there was a problem she said, no, (laughing) and confirmed cancelled appointment. read more

Do not come here for an eye exam or glasses. You will get a sub-quality eye exam and overpriced glasses. I brought my 91-year old father in for an eye exam. They were immediately rude when they realized he wasn't going to buy their overpriced glasses. When we went to Costco to order glasses the tech pointed out that the exam my dad got at Fashion Eye Center did not include a prism. He printed out 5 years of exams at Costco which included a prism (see below). We returned to Fashion Eye Center to get the prescription revised and they said we needed to get another $140 exam. The tech at Costco said the doctor should have seen the prism in his prescription glasses at the time of his initial exam. Fashion eye center refused to offer a solution that worked with our schedule. My dad will pay for another exam at Costco for $105. We should have gone there in the first place. I mistakenly thought we would get a better exam at Fashion Eye Center. My advice: don't waste your time and money at this business establishment. read more

They listen attentively, suggest discreetly, and solve challenges with great ingenuity and tenacity. Couple that with their "can do" attitude, an excellent selection of eyeglass frames, and meticulous fitting, and you have an unbeatable combination. Are they as cheap as the optical department at the big box stores? TV commercials warning me to use my FSA benefits before year end was what it took for me to look at my balance and quickly make an appointment for an eye exam so I can get new contacts and glasses. Can't let those precious dollars disappear in to thin air. I've always gone to an ophthalmologist because of a certain eye condition that mimics a serious disease although I don't have the disease at all. You know, a pseudo thing goin' on in my eyes. So I finally decided to go to an optometrist to save a little time and money and I'm glad I did. Called on 12/26 and got an appointment for 12/27. As their first appointment of the day, I was quickly taken care of. Filled out the necessary paperwork and before I knew it, I was sitting in the exam room with Dr. Iverson. Very nice young doctor and quite thorough. He saw my pseudo condition as he examined me and he asked to get a copy of my records from my ophthalmologist so he could compare something he saw that I wasn't aware of to my most recent exam at my ophthalmologist. I was impressed. As I waited for my eyes to fully dilate I sat in the comfy waiting area in the deep, soft leather couch and almost fell asleep! The staff is pleasant and do a good job but it's Dr. Iverson who impressed me the most and I would definitely come back just for him. He put me in a different brand of contacts as a trial because he felt it was a healthier choice since I don't change my contacts as frequently as I should. So now I've got my prescription for contacts/glasses and will be able to use up those precious benefit dollars before year end. read more

Dr Blonder is terrific. I would definitely recommend him but he isn't there too often. So I made an appointment with Dr. Iverson. He was condescending and arrogant. Never introduced himself and was so negative. He told me I didn't have cataracts but I would someday!! I'm 72, how does he know? I could die before I have cataracts!! I have been into preventative healthcare for 52 years, longer than he's been alive, and he told me I wasn't into prevention because I didn't want my eyes dilated. This place is all that and a bag of chips...errr, a box of girl scout cookies. Literally. I guess one of the doctors has a granddaughter in girl scouts, so they sent me home with a free box of thin mints. Yeah! The staff was incredibly friendly and patient as I tried to pick out my frames--I worked with John, who was wonderful. They all offered their advice, and when I wanted to text a photo of my final two options to a friend, and I couldn't because my phone was dead, they found me a phone charger. Above and beyond, really. They were thorough in the exam, efficient, and friendly. Cute styles of glasses and I would have liked if someone would have shown me around in here. Myself and my husband came here the other morning after we got out of work. We both were dressed in business casual wear but that seemed like it still was off putting by the women behind the counter. I wondered if it was what I was wearing? My tattoos? No, someone else in here had tattoos so it couldn't have been that. These ladies took one look at us, asked if we were together then nobody proceeded to even bother to offer assistance and we were in there for a while. That's fine Fashion Eye Center. I will be taking my money elsewhere and I will not be coming back here again. Congratulations on losing multiple sales. Can't See Eye to Eye Been going to Fashion Eye Center for a few years and always found them to be wonderful. Today was sad. I'm headed on a fishing trip in a few weeks and needed some polarized glasses. Had a pair of Oakley Frames that my dog ate the lenses out of--yes very odd. But I had this great idea that I'd get some lenses made for the frame because the frame was perfect. So I get there, there's a few office staff and then a heavier set women who apparently is the manager. I explained what I needed and she said was it was going to be 310-350 to get this done. I told her that I didn't need prescription lenses, just polarized lenses to go fishing with no prescription. She said that it didn't change the cost. But she had a lady who worked for her call Oakley and verify. By the time they were done, I was completely underwhelmed and felt that they were making profits over helping a customer--the day blank lenses cost 350 dollars is a long way in my future. By the way, the manager was quite a bully to her staff. I stopped over at Alvernon Optical on Campbell--150 bucks--guy through in a 20% discount--will have the glasses back in a week. Hmm--that's how fashion used to work before they got the eyeglassanitza. Anyway--I now will easily go there. They were kind, easy to work with and did everything I needed--oh wait, Fashion--you were my first choice because that's how you rolled--you've lost your way. read more

On a Living Social coupon, I visited for a long overdue eye exam and new pair of specs. Everyone on the staff was professional and friendly -- from the optometrist to the guy who very patiently helped me choose my frames and gave me honest feedback, which I appreciated. They had a nice selection of frames in a range of prices and I easily found one I love. First time, I tried on my glasses, they fit perfectly. A week or so later, I received a survey: "It was great seeing you at your last appointment. Your feedback is very important to us and we appreciate you taking a moment to help us enhance our service by filling out our short survey." Eye exam time! The people here are very helpful and friendly. Even the Opthometrist is very talkative and nice and will crack jokes here and there. I haven't yet had a bad experience here. The selection of glasses are amazing. There are many designer brand frames from Michael Kors, Gucci, DG, Juicy Couture, and more! So deciding which frame or brand to pick it tough, but worth it in the end! My contacts experience here also went well! My colored contacts that were ordered got here in a timely manner and there was no mistakes. The wait here is never too long, I'm usually in an out in 30mins and that includes an exam, picking my frames and signing paper work. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend and I will continute coming here for future eye exams! read more

I have to agree with Beth about the poor experience at Fashion Eye Center. I'm not sure if this is how they customarily treat their customers but I got a very strong vibe of condescension from the staff especially the doctor. The way he spoke and explained things made me feel like I was annoying him by asking questions. And one time I had to come back because I lost my prescription and he was at the front desk and I was talking to the cashier (asking the cashier a simple question about whether the info on the script was correct as I was placing an order online). The optometrist stepped in and firmly reiterated what the staff member said in with a unique tone of voice I had never heard from him before. It seemed harsh and firm and I got the sense that I was annoying him by even being there. I kind of felt dumb for asking and I didn't feel good at all after I left there. Had to decide to find another optometrist after that unfortunately! Otherwise the exam was thorough and very professional. read more

I picked my glasses up in 5 days! When I put them on I was amazed how much better my vision was than with glasses I purchased 18 months ago. This is a great place for your exam and works with most insurance companies however the retail part of this is a joke. The lens take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month to attain. Not happy with the selection and the customer service side of the retail. Be very careful when purchasing glasses here. I brought my benefits with me and the lens was supposed to be minimal charge however they upsold the charge and new lens would have cost me $100. read more

This review is specifically for optometrist Dr. Iverson. I myself have a Ph.D. in optics, and I can say without a doubt that Dr. Iverson is both knowledgeable and thorough in his exam. I have multiple problems including a rental hole, and cataracts. He addressed both problems very thoroughly, recommended treatments in the proper order. I followed his advice 1 year ago, and had very good results. He is now recommending a second cataract surgery (the other eye), and I am looking forward to a vast improvement in my vision. I was having weird flashing lights in my eyeball, yesterday. I was concerned, so I googled it- as I suspected it is not good, and necessary to see an optometrist right away. I was so thankful that the lady on the phone was also concerned when I told her my issue. They said the doctor was expected back in 20 minutes and after they talked w/him they would call me back. I called my husband at work letting him know of my emergency. When Fashion Eye called back and said to come in ASAP I told them I could be there in about thirty minutes. Dr Iverson was a wonderful doctor. The office was busy and they squeezed me in so nicely. I was seen in the smaller room. He put in dialation drops and while sitting in the showroom one of the staff asked "are you having dialation ? You have the face?" By then I had only a sliver of iris left and my whole eye was pupil. The light was so bright it hurt. She got me a pair of the plastic sunglasses for this purpose. Again Dr Iverson was wonderful, articulate, un rushed even with patients with appointments backing up the waiting area. He did a most throurough exam and explained what had happened and what I could expect. Also if other symptoms happen when it could be considered emergency. Amazing professional service. I had been using them before, I found out my current glasses are five years old. I will make my follow up to include a new pair of glasses. Although with the initial test of reading the chart on the wall I can still see 20/20 out of the top portion of my trifocals. This is the place for quality and service. read more

Both my husband and I had a unique opportunity (offer) to use the professional services offered by Fashion Eye Center and we were extremely satisfied. The eye exams and resulting prescriptions were spot-on and the doctor was so very thorough. Assisting us in selecting the frames and lens was Joe. He knew his products so well, would advise us on what looked best on us and what kind of lens was best for our particular eye situations. Such a professional young man, so patient and helpful. Yesterday we picked up our glasses and our whole outlook improved (literally) by leaps and bounds! This was a first visit for us but it will certainly not be the last. This is one of the most friendly, personable, family-oriented businesses we have ever frequented. Live on the east side? No problem! They have a location there too. That is where we first met them and we were sad when we moved to Oro Valley. Then we found out they have a store on Oracle. So happy! Then they received a hard sale on hardware and where informed that getting glasses from Costco was not supporting the Tucson local business. Fantastic experience! I lost my glasses a while back and recently started working in front of a computer all day. My vision had gotten worse since I lost my glasses and I needed a new pair stat. I just got new VSP plan through work. I found Fashion Eye on Yelp/Google. I saw their Oracle location was highly rated. I called them last Saturday and asked if they had any exam openings. They said no, so I tried the not so well rated Broadway location. Christi picked up and said they were also completely booked, but she offered to put me on the cancellation list. I said ok and I got a call back within 45 minutes saying there was an opening that same day at 11:30. I went in and although the office is older looking than the Oracle location, everyone was very nice, they had a wide selection of frames, and the latest in technology for your eye exam. I was taken back 15 minutes early and I elected to pay the extra $25 to have my retina examined with the OptoMap. I didn't have to dilate and it was super easy. The doctor was very nice, but didn't introduce himself and didn't really give me any update on my eyes until I asked. He was very personable though. He saw I had an orthopedic boot on and a walker, so he told me his own foot injury tale. He also gave me the best prescription I've had my entire life and he answered all my questions thoroughly and patiently. As far as picking my glasses, I was looking for purple frames. They didn't have too many or any I liked, so I went to the Oracle location. Before I left the Broadway store, Christi told me if I ended up picking frames at their other store she would be happy to send my records over to them. I got to the Oracle location and it was very updated and modern inside, very wide selection again. One of the ladies quickly came over to me and knew who I was, the girl looking for purple frames. She pulled all the purple frames she could find. There were a lot! After I narrowed down my search, Sabrina came over and helped me finalize my order. She was super helpful and went above and beyond to help me decide between two last pairs. She even went online and found all the other colors the frames both came in to help me choose. She also assured me if I ordered a pair and didn't like them, they could restyle me in another frame within 30 days! I ordered a beautiful pair of Bebe's and paid $135.00 with them completely decked out using my VSP plan. I'm even more excited to say my glasses arrived in less than a business week. Sabrina called me yesterday and I went to pick them up. They fit PERFECTLY and she took her time making sure I was happy with the fit and look. Thank you so much Fashion Eye. I was totally satisfied with my experience here. They didn't try to upsell on frames nor lenses though the various options for my progressive lenses were explained to me in detail. Got my glasses in 6 business days AND they also fixed the frame on my old glasses for free. The Optometrist was top notch too. He patiently explained my eye issues and answered all my questions. The people were nice there and everything seemed great until the lab or whoever sent them the wrong frames for my order. I thought the way they handles the situation was just terrible. They did not bother to call me and let me know what was going on and that there was an error. They had to re send the frames and claimed they could not expedite the shipping. So I offered to pay for it myself because I really need the glasses, but of course they claimed that wasn't even possible. Whatever company they use to order their product is just beyond awful and do not care about sending you the product that you paid for in a timely manner. By the time I do get the glasses it will be at least a month to a month and a half from the day I made the order. If you do come here I strongly suggest getting the exam and taking the prescription elsewhere and buying glasses there. Unless of course you don't really care about when you get them. read more

Initially, I had a horrible experience with one of the sales people. She was pushy and did not know what she was doing. It was a very long and drawn out situation, but the resolution is what I am pleased about. I ended up writing a letter to the manager explaining my concerns with the sales person. The manager, Thelma, responded to my letter the next day. By mid week, the salesperson had been dealt with, I had a refund of the money I was overcharged, and I was given a gift card with a substantial balance on it for my ordeal. Both Dr. Blonder and Thelma were very concerned with what I had to say and handled the situation professionally and with respect. They obviously take a great deal of pride in their business, and care about the customer experience. I did take one star off because I do feel their prices are a bit inflated. However, styles they carry are some of the best I have been able to find, and given my experience with Thelma I will definitely be a return customer. read more
