The place is great, you drive in and out quickly but that also comes with consequences. I would give a 5 star but something that is a bit off; is that you can't get off your vehicle, they want and probably have to, take care of the unloading on their own. I was trying to give them instructions so they will not hit my vehicle when pulling out some of the paint cans and buckets, and they guy wouldn't listen sending me back to my car. Anyways, I just think for 1, they have to be careful when pulling stuff off the vehicles and second, give an opportunity for proper communication between the person in the vehicle and the people offloading. read more

For a hazardous waste facility this is a good option ... well, basically the ONLY option. I like that it's free and I don't have to get out of the car to unload my schtuff. We loaded up a trunk-full of used paint (from the last 20 years) this last Saturday and rushed over before it closed. It's been WAY too long. Should've brought it in sooner. But to get myself over to Vista, on a Saturday ... before 2pm isn't easy. We arrived around 11:30am and there were only 3 cars in front of us. It went fast. I'm happy. I didn't realize they'd take TV's and computers also. Hmmm ... that means another trip to Vista for me. I wish they'd open longer and for a couple days/week though. The guys (and girl) working there were really helpful. I appreciate that. Enough said. read more

I had to drop off old paint and batteries. There is one way in and one way out which makes it very convenient to drive up and they unload everything. They were done unloading before I was done filling out my name on the form. I was expecting a line because it was a Saturday afternoon but I was able to drive right up. If you have hazardous waste to get rid of, this is the place. I took half empty paint cans and electric florescent light fixtures. Service was great! Fill out a form and the attendants take everything out of your trunk. No need to get out of your vehicle. read more

They only open 1 day a week and close on holidays! So make sure you keep that in mind. Try to go early as there might be more cars later the day. It's a small area with one way in and one way out for your car. And the whole time for safety reasons you're required to stay in the car. A staff will either grab your waste from your trunk or at the back if you instruct him to do so. You'll be asked to show your drivers license, a bit like being pulled over haha, but also consider it like a drive thru drop off service. I don't know why they need to see my license. Someone said its to verify your address and it's within the area service. I don't know. You need to fill out a small form of your basic info and what you're dropping off. I'm not sure why either. But anyway, it's awesome to have a proper place to dispose toxic and hazardous waste. In my case I came to dispose a fluorescent light tube. Places like Home Depot doesn't recycle the tubes, only the bulbs. Overall the process was quick and there was no need to get out of the car. Not an easy job for those guys, work with toxic waste and being in the sun with customers. They all wear hazmat suits and a big hat. read more

Convenient, friendly and fast. Pull in, tell them what you have, pop the trunk and they handle the rest. Free for residents of North County just be ready to show ID/Driver License. Great way to get rid of large quantities of paint, stain, fluorescent bulbs, batteries, you name it. Visit their website to make sure what you have can be handled but pretty much anything goes. Super service for residents! Only open Saturdays 9-3pm so you may have a bit of a wait depending - but worth it! If you are a resident of Carlsbad, you can discard your e-waste or hazardous waste at this facility, free of charge. I typically have PSC Household Hazardous Waste come to our home to do a big pick up once a year but they charge $10 and their pick up dates can be several weeks out. We were having our garages painted and just wanted to get rid of old paint and other electronic waste items that we've been accumulating ASAP. To maximize our visit, we reached out to a few neighbors and asked them if they had items to discard of and they gave us old portable radios, fluorescent light bulbs, cords and the like. It worked out great. So, pool your neighbors if visiting and discard of your hazardous waste responsibly. FYI though - For paint, they have a 15 gallon max. Regardless of whether the container is full or not. They are only open on Saturdays for a short time so I recommend you get there right when they open. The lines do get long. We ended up having to go 2 weekends in a row because we found additional items to discard and when we went the 2nd time, it took 30 minutes to get through vs the 5 minutes when we got there early. One last note. If you're considered high-risk with COVID, try to put your waste in the trunk / cargo area as they do all the unloading for you. They ask that you remain in your car. If items are in your backseat, workers will be in close proximity to you. I'm very grateful the city offers this service. Most will throw hazardous and e-waste in the garbage and while discarding of these items correctly takes more effort, it's the responsible thing to do. read more

Sold my house and had a TON of household hazardous waste, including spray paint, bug spray, gasoline, you-name-it. I initially had them pick up what they could at my address, but I exceeded the 165 lb limit (Told you I had a lot). Although the disposal facility is in the northern hinterlands of Vista, it was easy to find and the line wasn't very long on the Saturday I visited. The guys working there were polite - I didn't expect them to be enthusiastic! All in all, it was an easy-peasy process. read more

The only hazardous waste disposal facility in all of North County is located in the far northern reaches of Vista, and only open Saturdays. Apparently even that one day a week is too much for the staff, since they were closed the Saturday of memorial day weekend. Having wasted an hour in thick Saturday traffic to get there, only to find the gates closed. What a waste. And we weren't the only ones. Other customers outside the gates who also wasted their time. You want to do right by the environment and do the right thing, but the lazy staff at Edco who can't even be open one day a week to take the hazardous waste. So really we don't have any choice but to throw it out. Shame on you Edco. What a joke. You should step up to the plate and open this facility 6 days a week. Barring that, you should have monthly pickup of hazardous waste. read more

Great operation if you live in the Vista city limits. They took my waste but mentioned my address wasn't in the city limits so I was supposed to go to Ramona, which isn't too likely based on proximity. You can see why people put all the toxic waste with their regular trash pick up. The operation itself though is very easy as its a drive thru. You must have a proof of address to show them when you pull up. All you do is pop your trunk and you will be on your way in seconds. I have taken paint and oil mostly but check the website or call them if you are curious if they will take an item. read more
