We have been patients of Dr. Sutro's for several years, but recent experiences have led us to reconsider our choice of eye care provider. While we initially appreciated Dr. Sutro's expertise and the convenience of his clinic's location, we have observed a significant decline in the quality of service. Specifically, we have encountered difficulties with staff availability, both in-person and by phone. Additionally, we have been concerned by Dr. Sutro's interactions with patients, which have sometimes been perceived as impatient or disrespectful. We believe that all patients, regardless of their language proficiency, deserve to be treated with courtesy and understanding. For example, he was rude toward my mom during our recent visit. I was standing outside the exam room while he was alone in the room with her. He was giving her instructions but due to the language barrier she didn't understand what he was asking of her so instead of asking me to help with translations, he was screaming and yelling at her loud enough that his receptions had to check in to make sure everything was okay. This is not the first time. Given these challenges, we have decided to explore other options for our eye care needs. We hope to find a provider who offers a more consistent and patient-centered approach. read more

Nice people , Doctor is a nice soft-spoken man. No t just he best selection of frames, but I loved mine

Very unprofessional, very rude to the customer, and they were racially biased toward me. During my last visit I had to call the police there for their unprofessionalism and the fact that they were refusing to refund my money for a pair of glasses that I had to take back 7 times because the lenses kept falling out and the screws kept falling out, of a pair of brand new designer glasses. I had to return them Several times. I had them remade and they still kept falling apart. l have been having a horrible time with this business. I tried to call the owner of the store and I got no response or any answer. I tried to call the optometrist, no response. I don't know what's going on with this business, they ripped me off for about a $1000 that I paid for my glasses. and when I ask them for the receipt for the glasses that I paid for they could not produce it. no records being kept. they never answer the phone, they never answer the door. there playing games I don't know if there going out of business or not. 2 separate employees have quit working there after a barrage of insults and verbal disrespect that I received. and then the woman that was behind the counter disappeared out of nowhere. I don't know if their doing in Embezzlement or what?? something's not right at this business. you call the doctor you can't get through. I was treated rudely I was threatened by one of the staff members in there. I was talked to very disrespectfully and lied to buy the employees. read more

The office decor is very 1970''s. But in a good way. Dr Sutro is a bit odd but very thorough. He knows his stuff and makes you feel at ease during the exam. My only complaint was them not answering the phone to get an appointment. The office staff is pleasant when you finally get a hold of them. read more

Needed an annual eye exam and found them through my insurance. The office was in an old building but close to my house so I scheduled an appointment. Showed up 10 min prior to my appointment time and the office was closed and no one answered the phone. I waited 10 minutes until my appt time then left. I went to America's Best and paid out of pocket walk-in instead of having my time wasted at this office. read more

I have been here at least 9 times over the years and each time is extremely pleasant. I really enjoy Dr. Sutro's bedside manner and thoroughness. His staff is equally enjoyable and easy to work with. Selfishly, I hope he never retires. The day he does will be a loss for the community. read more

Dr. Sutro is SO WEIRD. When you go into his office, there's seventies furniture and paintings. He dresses like an Englishman at tea. His receptionist chainsmokes so the desk is usually goes unmanned. His assistant has horrible body odor. She's a moderately thin woman too, but has an abnormally strong musky scent coming from someplace and she's got horrible armpit odor. The most ridiculous thing of all-----Dr. Sutro's office is so tiny, yet he has an intercom system. It is hysterical!!!!! When he wants his smelly assistant (who is usually only a few feet away in the other room, Dr. Sutro actually gets ON the intercom phone and pages her to come to the room. I've been going to him for years though and so although I can't complain about the quality of the service (he is pretty good at what he does and very patient) his bizarre office at least keeps things entertaining!!!! : ) read more

Wow, this guy is THOROUGH !!! Walmart didn't do half the stuff Dr. Sutro did. I have to believe that's a good indicator that I chose more wisely this time. My new glasses definitely have me seeing way better, and (again with the thorough!) he ran into the back room, like, 4 times (!!!) to adjust the frames so they'd sit perfectly on my crazy, lopsided ears! One is higher than the other, and I've always just manually adjusted my glasses a million times a day to keep them even so I don't look like ø.Ó Now, I don't know what to do with all the free time. Learn a new language? Catch up on Sherlock Season 3? Solve the mystery of How Can Seattle Drivers Suck So Bad At Driving In The Rain When They Get SO MUCH Practice?!?! Nahhh...nobody has that kind of time. Well, anyway, Dr. Sutro is great, and his new office assistant smells just fine (I'm referencing an earlier review from Eileen M.) and is very nice. I would have given 5 stars, but had to drop one for the only negative: I've never had them answer the phone, no matter when I call, and it takes 3 voicemails to get a call returned. Not sure what's going on there, but I can overlook it in light of all the positives. I'll definitely be going back there for my next pair of glasses. :-) read more

It was time to go get a new prescription, so I did a quick google search to find one near me that took my insurance. Location is close to home, and easy to get to. Does takes a few calls to actually get to talk to someone. Called a few times on a Monday, left a message, then called again Tuesday morning and had better luck. Made an appointment, went in a little early knowing there would be some paperwork. Doctor Sutro did a very thorough exam, compared to what I usually got at walmart. He's got a great sense of humor, and gives advice and professional recommendations which was nice. Seen a few reviews here regarding the receptionist. Gal at the front desk was nice and helpful to me. We sat and talked and joked around prior to my appointment when doc was helping another patient. Thanks guys! read more

His staff is friendly and helpful. Other patients who have been in the office at the same time as I also seem to be pleased with their experience there. I came here for an eye exam (obviously) and new glasses. I'm really happy with the service I received here. The Dr. is very thorough, seems like he keeps up to date with all the latest methods, and it's nice to see someone who continues their education.
