Ben and his colleague took on our massive Deodara Cedar. With an emphasis on tree health and making it less susceptible to damage from wind/weather, Ben thinned it out and shaped the canopy to help the tree stay healthy and strong. Weather required rescheduling the original date selected for work and Ingrid was on top if it with great communication. Clean-up afterward was done really well. The most recent job involved pruning of trees all through our property in West Linn, plus removing three dead hemlocks plus a dying maple very near our house. We had to trim our large maple tree as it was covering my neighbor's plum tree. I didn't want to kill the decades old plum, so I decided it was time to get it trimmed. It was also infringing on my other neighbors' garage and sitting above the power lines of both neighbors. I did not want to cut it down as it gave us great shade on the south side of our house. After getting several bids I selected Vista Tree Service to do some major pruning of towering trees in my yard. They were competitive, but not the least expensive. I picked them because I was nervous about damage to my garden, drip system, etc. from tromping boots and dropping limbs, but their team inspired the most confidence that they would be careful. They were out this week, and did a terrific job. They made sure we both had the same plan in mind for the trimming. They were mindful of the health and future growth of the trees as they trimmed and shaped, and the garden as they moved through it. John and Vista Tree Service were unprofessional. We hired his company September, 2015 to take care of our Condo Association with 1 visit per month for a 1 year agreement. We signed terms and conditions, and it started out great. We agreed, there would be a 1x BIG clean up of the common area for $650 in the Fall and then he'd come out 1x each month (Nov.-March). We don't have a lot of plants, so this required little work. Then came April and the growing season. John sent me a text, alerting me he wouldn't be servicing our property any longer. He broke our written agreement, gave me no notice or option to talk with him, and he left me during the busy growing season needing to find a landscaper. I do comment him for showing up monthly as scheduled during these months. I have edited this post due to a call from John apologizing for his lack of professionalism. I don't know how he is as an arborist. I wouldn't recommend him as a landscaper. I've increased my rating by 1 star for his call. read more
