I picked out 2 beautiful new pair of sunglasses this year and I'm so excited to pick them up when they're ready. Sometimes I can be a bit anxious and I find that he sees this and subtly helps me find myself to a state of calm. This is so incredibly important. I've been going to Dr. Dodge for a few years now, for my annual eye exam/check-up. Staff is always kind, warm and welcoming! Clean office + equipment. Bathroom is accessible down the hallway via a key they provide -- also very clean + chic! Covered parking lot next door currently charges $1.50 every fifteen (15) minutes, with a daily maximum of.. $13.50? There are plenty of metered spots available also. This review has a long time coming. At first I did have some issues with the front desk having Misplaced some of my documents and having to do the process over many times. However, they apologized and everything was fixed. Not only that each time I have come in they've been very very helpful. Took my senior citizen mom here (on a Sat!) for an eye exam and glasses. Dr. Younany was so patient and so thorough with her. My mom is hard of hearing and needs time to process conversations, especially with everyone speaking through a mask. Dr. Y was delightfully kind and gentle, as well as very competent. We came there for a second opinion. They didn't have enough attention to the problem we arrived with. Even communication was relatively nice, the outcome of that visit was useless. The prescription that was given to my son was far away from reality. I wouldn't leave any review, but I found a receipt for $135 and my name on it was also wrong. Holy cow I can't begin to explain why this is the greatest medical office I have ever visited. Not just eye doctor, but any doctor. The level of kindness is insane. It's rare this day in age to be treated like a human being, but everyone in this place really goes the extra mile to listen and respond like you are their best friend or family member. It's super reassuring and makes me feel very safe and taken care of. A few specifics: The doctor (10/10) - gave me the most in depth eye exam I've ever had in my life, saying he wanted to sleep well at night knowing he did everything he could for each of his patients. The staff (11/10) - were so helpful in the payment and insurance process. First time in my life I had someone run my insurance prior to my arrival and pre-select all frames covered by my insurance so I didn't have to worry about it. All in all just great service, and very nice people here. I don't care if you live an hour away, this place is worth the drive! read more

This is the exact kind of place that Yelp is great for finding. It's tucked in the back of a medical office, but it is BY FAR the best experience with an eye doctor I have ever had. The first time we went to Visualeyes was when they were still in Sherman Oaks in the El Torito Plaza. They have since moved to Van Nuys near the Grossman Burn Center Building. This is the second time we've gone to the new location and the doctors and assistants here are very professional and thorough. I'm only giving 3 stars though because the office has failed to contact me and give me an update with my eyeglasses. I had them send my only reading glasses away for my new prescribed lenses. This was on July 27th. I was told I'd have them back within 3-4 business days, no more than 7 days because of COVID . Two weeks passed, nothing. After 3 weeks, I called them and they told me that my glasses arrived at their office but they had to send them back because the lenses were defected. It is now August 29th. I was hoping they'd at least give me an update at the end of this week, but they haven't. If I knew it would take a month for this process, I wouldn't have left my only glasses to be sent away. I'm a teacher and school started last week for me. The onscreen time while remotely teaching without my glasses has been literally a headache for me. It would just be nice to receive a phone call for updates rather than me having to check in. Update: Dr. Dodge was kind enough to contact me after my initial post. He apologized and was disappointed in the situation. He promised that someone would contact me after the weekend on Monday. They called as promised. I finally picked up my glasses today and I couldn't be happier. Dr Lee came out and apologized once again and expressed that he was also disappointed in the lab they were working with. Amazing experience! The people in this office are funny, helpful and friendly. They have very soft chocolate chip cookies that they make fresh every morning and don't mind if you eat them allllll. Their air puffs aren't shocking to the eye at all and the whole test/checkup takes less than an hour. An affordable option with or without Health Insurance. The only downfall is that there is no free parking. It's a $1/hour to park here. read more

I needed glasses prescription updates. Finding a good Optometrist in Los Angeles is a huge gamble. I got lucky today. I found Dr Lee Dodge here on Yelp and took a chance based on the reviews. The appointment was great, modern equipment, everyone in the office was wonderful. I was happy with the appointment. The closer though for me was a patient walked in with a complaint. His problem was his wife didn't like the frame he selected. Everything else about his appointment was perfect, he was very happy with his lenses! When your biggest complaint is a fashion issue, you've found a great doctor. I will be going back for a follow up visit to figure out my extreme dry eyes issue. I have confidence that Dr Dodge will figure this out and find a solution that could help. Glasses lenses are a little bit pricey though and I know I could have taken the prescription elsewhere, but based on the overall appointment I think having them made there is a good idea, they will do it right. read more

Despite the punny name, this office is a great choice for all your optometry needs. Unlike some offices (ie. a few offices located on Ventura), the staff here provide a warm, bright atmosphere. Their tech is new (they have a machine that takes picture of your eyeballs, so you don't have to use those annoying dialation drops that ruin the rest of your day), and the appointments are super quick and efficient. They also provide a wide range of affordable frames and lens options. Rather than rushing you out of the office as soon as they can, they take their time working with you to suggest frames that will fit your face, lifestyle, and budget. There's a paid parking lot available during the week, but you can park for free on the street. They're also open Saturdays (so, so, so convenient), and the parking lot is FREE on weekends. They take several types of insurance, offer free coffee, and provide FRESH BAKED COOKIES. The only slightly negative aspect I encountered while I was here was that I heard the same song played a couple times in just the few hours I was there. The music genre was great, but I don't want to have to endure a jazzy, slowed down cover of Lady GaGa more than once. Overall, this was the most comfortable trip to the optometrist I've ever had.
