This place is very hit or miss. The quality of the items are great and it's the only place like it in the area. Problem is, this business is ran like it knows it. I've had several complaints about things being in my bowl and dishes that were not ordered (and some I had no idea what it was) and every time I speak to a manager/employee about it it's just a roundabout "there's no way we do that so I don't know how it happened." The employees are obviously not held to a standard at all if that's how the manager approaches complaints. The employees are in the back 99.9% of the time which means they're more than likely back there living it up. Which wouldn't be an issue if there obviously wasn't signs of distraction, lack of simple detail, and a lack of caring, not just according to me, but according to a lot of people. And there's no view of people preparing your food as well which for some can be worrisome. Anytime quality of service and food is up and down as such, it's a sign of bad training and accountability. I've worked in food for 13 years so I'm just speaking from a standard I know what it should be, especially when people are spending their money to trust you with their food, health and nutrition. I've given this places several chances cause when it's done right, it is amazing. This place has a lot of great potential but needs new form of management whether that be a change of attitude or new management in general, quick. Worst experience of any vitality bowl location. I Have ordered a super green goddess salad twice this week and each time I was given a grain bowl instead. The second time it happened i was already home and had to drive back to the store. I told them they had given me a grain bowl but she told me I ordered a grain bowl "see there's the rice" but I kept my receipt and showed them that I ordered a salad. Not a grain bowl. She said she would remake it but felt like I had to prove to her they made my dish wrong. Like I ordered the wrong thing? Thank god I didn't throw the receipt. Pros: - I guess 1 pro is that it's an acai place and there's not that many of these around the area to compare it to. - Very easy to order - you can just use the kiosk to order and it comes out in like 5 mins. - some indoor and outdoor seating, good for parties of 2-3. - the mulberries that were toppings were actually really delicious. - Decent portions - it can really just be more of a meal than a snack if you get a large. - Decent number of options for parking since it's in the village - Overall staff was friendly and the place was clean, spoons available next to the window so you can help yourself. - Modifiable bowls and you can add toppings for extra cost Cons: - I wasn't a huge fan of the mint flavor in the sunshine bowl - so unless you love the taste of mint I wouldn't recommend it. - Some of the fruit felt like it was still icy or frozen. - A little overpriced, I know inflation etc. but I kind of wish the prices were $12-13 instead. We finally got a chance to check out Vitality Bowls and have enjoyed the items we have tried so far. The smoothies are good and come in a range of flavors and calorie counts. You can splurge for an extra buck and get an edible straw (mixed reviews on the ROI in our house). They have both hot and cold items and I love that when i come to pick up my order they have each item stored in the right temperature so that they are the correct temp heading home. The seating is limited but they do have indoor and outdoor tables. I prefer to order through the app and pick up for home enjoyment. The bowls are delicious as well as the wraps. I enjoy being able to get fresh veggies and fruits in a serving rather than having to buy all the ingredients to make on my own at home. I was disappointed with my Green Glow at this particular Vitality Bowl. I was expecting what I got from the Fremont Vitality Bowl. This bowl was smaller (same price), less chicken, less cucumber, radishes, and it was not organized in the bowl. It looked like a mess. And there were wilted pieces of lettuce that were gross. The Green Glow in Fremont was such perfection. The Green Glow in Castro Valley was a huge flop. Plus it took awhile to get it .. about 30 minutes. I expected the Fremont vitality bowl perfection. It also took a while for us to get our acai bowl - probably about 10 minutes. The only logistical problem is I saw that the cashier was super busy and so even when there were 3 people waiting inside, she didn't ask them their order name or number - they had to wait a few minutes and ask her even though she was not doing anything at that point. Pineapple Coconut flavored with granola, banana, blueberries and coconut chips on top. Although it was good, you can definitely make the same thing as long as u have a nutri-bullet. When I lived in town, I used to eat lunch here at least once a month-but I haven't come by in quite a while. I stopped in today & ordered and it was NOT a pleasant experience. Firstly, they no longer have a cashier. You have to order on a computer POS (point of sale) thing yourself. All 4 young adult/teenage employees are standing behind a door in kitchen talking away. Eventually, a young lady wandered out and I asked her if I could just order with her, explaining that I wanted some changes to the regular Vitality bowl (add spinach, etc) but she said I could do that on the console and also I couldn't pay with cash (which I never carry anyways, so ok...fine). I chose to DINE-IN, and PRINT my receipt, and it did print out-but a guy swiftly emerged from the kitchen as soon as it printed and took it away. The console asked me for a tip, but since I'd received no service from anyone, I did not leave one. When you used to order a bowl for dine in, they used to give them to you in a chilled bowl, with fruit arranged really beautifully on top but this came out in a cardboard to-go container with a lid on it and everything inside all smooshed & gross. I was already seated at one of the tables in their small dining room, but when the kid brought it out from the kitchen, he did not bring it to me, rather he stood there and said, "do you want a bag?" I mentioned that I wanted to eat it there, and he said OK and left it on the counter while he turned and walked back into the kitchen. There's a tip jar on counter, if the worker would've brought the bowl to my table, I would've left him one. Alas, not to be.
