I feel like working from home has taught my wife and I a lesson in being thankful for having a home (although it's not our dream home). It has also exposed the many improvements that we can make to our home. One of those improvements being the lighting in our living room and kitchen. Our home is 27 years old, so we are always looking for tasteful ways to modernize certain things. The previous owner of our home installed these atrocious track lights that looked severely dated and provided so little lighting that we had to rely on chintzy floor lights from Wal-Mart. After receiving the ok from my wife, I began looking for electricians that could install recessed lighting. After finding Vitality Electric on Angie's List (and cross checking it with Yelp), I submitted an inquiry for a quote. The owner quickly replied and we arranged for him to come by for a quote. Vitaly (the owner) arrived the next day and provided us with a quote. My wife and I were pleased by the quote amount and signed off on the job! Two days later Vitaly's employees arrived at 8:30 am (fellow early birds!) to install the lights. After discussing the placement of the lights and covering our furniture, they were hard at work! A little after 4pm, both gentlemen were testing the lights and summoning me to see the final product. I was thoroughly impressed by the installation of the lights in both our kitchen and living room. They adjusted the lights to a temperature that was bright, but not blindingly bright (one light canister is extremely bright). In addition, they used a circular cover to conceal the area where the track lights were previously installed. The installation of recessed lights has not only improved our ability to see while working, but has also upgraded the look of our home. In the near future we plan on reaching out to Vitality so that we can have recessed lighting installed in our bedroom and hallway. We ran into many issues with our breaker box and kitchen outlets, so I looked on yelp to see if I could find someone to come out as quickly as possible. Vitality Electric was the only 24/7 place that came up within the top 15 searchings and had excellent reviews; I contacted them, and they got back to me quickly. So I responded with the issue and set up an appointment for the following day at 7 am. Their workers arrived on time and were very professional; however could not find the actual issue, so they did not charge us for his visit. Let us know they would have to send someone else out to do a deeper look into the lines and call and make an appointment. We were waiting a little bit as we wanted the initial tech to call first to let them know what he had done, but within about a half-hour, someone else showed up; he could determine the issue and get it fixed. After about an hour or so, we used some appliances, which triggered a failure again, I reached out to Vitality, and they sent the tech back out. I highly recommend this company. I let the two gentlemen know that they either disconnected or cut something. They said that they would call AT&T to come fix it. They did unpermited work and tried to get away with not finishing the permit. They gave me the run around, so I had to call the state licensing board on them. That finally got Vitality to respond. They failed 2 inspections, even though they were given specific instructions from the first inspection. I don't normally write 1 stars. I understand that things happen and it might be a one off bad moment. This was not the case with vitality. They completed work on my home without a permit. When I pointed out they didn't complete the permit for the work, they offered to refund me the permit fee. I reminded them that doing unpermitted work is a violation of their license. The guy on the phone paused for a moment and stated that was an issue. I attempted to work with them to complete the permit. Unsurprisingly I was given the run around and sent to their project coordinators voicemail repeatedly. They almost never responded. The few times I could get a hold of someone we coordinated relocating my charger to meet permit requirements. They tried to charge me for this despite the improper placement being a product of their failure to get a permit which would have told them the location was wrong. Unsurprisingly, the project coordinator was very communicative when it came time to request money. She was very on top of calls and messages then. Between the inability to get a hold of them and their attempts to both get away with not completing a permit and charging me to fix their mistakes, I called the state licensing board. The state required them to complete the permit and fix the work. Upon inspection for the permit, the city found they made several mistakes. Vitality came out to fix them. A second inspector came and found they didn't complete all the fixes. They passed the next inspection. This process took months. I cannot convey how much I would urge you not to use them, at least not their Sacramento location. read more

I contacted him to schedule the installation an 110v electrical outlet for a new gas stove . He quoted me $250-$300. I also asked he cut out my laminate counter so I could push stove back as it sticks out a bit. When he showed up he said he would go to Home Depot to get the saw. I said great - he started the work and when he finished he said "oh I didn't cut out the laminate. I'm going to have another guy call you but it will be more money. And I didn't install a new breaker just tapped into the microwave breaker". I wasn't thrilled so I asked how much? $280. Wow okay. I'm not in the mood to haggle or argue. Have your guy call me. The other guy never called. I then received call backs from others who told me for what he did I should have paid $150-$200. I gave him one hell of a tip for not finishing the job I had asked (and he confirmed he would do before he even started). He was definitely fast and punctual which is why I gave him 2 stars. But I come from a family who taught me my word is my bond. If that is on your personal values list find another electrician. read more

Overall it was a fantastic experience using Vitaly Electric. Vitaly, the owner, came by to provide a very competitive quote on a Saturday and was able to fit us in on Monday. We wanted to add recessed lighting to our living room, which currently had a light/fan combo in the middle. But we wanted 6 lights in total, 4 on one switch and 2 on another switch. Our living room was on the bottom floor of a 2-story house so Vitaly said there might be some sheetrock damage and his guys would do their best but we might need to have someone touch-up and paint when their done, so wasn't thrilled to hear that but we were ok with it. His team came in early in the morning and did a fantastic job, kept me informed with what they were doing, tried really hard to keep the amount of holes in the sheet rock to a minimum and installed the lights pretty quickly. In the end, they cleaned up after themselves and also put the sheet rock holes back in place and blended quite nicely. All that's needed is a bit of paint and you could hardly tell there were holes in the first place. Overall, really pleased with the lighting and the work done. Definitely recommend and will be using in the future for any electric work that might need doing. Very professional and Vitaly was also available throughout the job. read more
