Good tire maintenance shop around downtown. Or to fix a flat around downtown I guess. Needed to have my driving event tires "flipped" inside out due to worn outside shoulders that had fresh inside shoulders. Some shops do not understand or even want to do such a thing, so I usually go to a specific tire shop in Glendale a short drive from downtown. But due to being busy on consecutive weekends, I ended up needing tires flipped on mother's day so I could use the tires for an event the following Saturday. (no time on weekdays) Since Glendale shop is not open Sundays, I searched and found this little shop near me and open Sundays! Drove by just after posted opening time, but the shop was closed. Came back again when I had another chance around noon and they were open and was able to quickly flip and re-balance all 4 tires. Price was reasonable (a buck per tire more than my usual shop, which is saved back by not having to drive as far, lol). Richard was the owner and we talked about the old days of late 80's and 90's car scenes. They were also doing an alignment on another enthusiast driver's modified Subaru AWD, so this seemed like a little performance/tuning shop! Good place! I went in to get some new tires, I wanted a specific product (Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position S 04) and they went ahead and ordered it for me for a small deposit. Everything went smoothly on installation day and they submitted my rebate to Bridgestone for me. Seems like they have a ton of used tires in good condition if you need a temporary or low cost replacement. Two weeks later I noticed my steering wheel was off center so I came back in and they redid the alignment for free. Really appreciate the flexibility and customer service. One thing I didn't get is a digital printout of the alignment specs, so if that's a must-have for you you should probably ask ahead. read more

I had tiny screws punctured on two of my tires at two different times. Both times they were able to spot the puncture with their naked eyes. Talk about experience! I was on the way to work when I noticed my tire was flat. The wobbling in the steering wheel was intense. I was fortunately next to a gas station that offered air. Pumped my tire up and after a quick online search, found Vitess Tire. Rolled up and said which tire was flat. After 20 minutes and a few reasonable bucks. I was on my way to work. Finally a helpful and fully trustworthy auto place! I had a tire blowout this morning and went in with my spare at 5:15p today. He checked it out, found a "used" tire that looks brand new, and switched it out in less than 15 minutes. The cost of everything was less than $40 and everything was professional and pleasant. He even cleaned out the gravel that gathered in that space between the tire and the bottom of the car and he rotated my rear tire with the front to even out use. Highly recommend! Honest and trustworthy guys! Sold me a run flat tire for $110. It's supposed to be used but it looked brand new to me! This type of tires usually cost over $400 per tire! He also didn't try to upsell me and he gave me an honest opinion on things I needed for my car (ie brakes). When I came here with a flat tire in 2013, the service and price seemed good. They sold me two new tires. I drove away feeling satisfied. Unfortunately, I recently had my car serviced and was told by an experienced mechanic that the date code from these tires was from 2002. The tires they sold me, although appearing brand new, were actually aged for 11 years, which is extremely dangerous. Rubber breaks down over time. It is recommended that tires be replaced once they are 6 years old, regardless of tread wear. Safety experts have attributed 139 deaths nationwide to aged tires that failed*. This sort of business practice could be described as criminal negligence. Buyer Beware! Due to a bad flat my GF purchased and paid for "supposedly" 2 new tires in Nov 2017. Those same 2 tires were worn out and had less than 1mm as of May 2018. We had to buy 2 new tires! Strange as we had changed the other 2 tires with the same brand/size tires a month earlier, yet those two still had over 90%+ tread. This place is awesome. Took family here for a tire replacement a couple weeks ago, and they had the exact tire that needed to be replaced, like new, for less than $40!! They were so stressed when they saw a nail in their tire, close to the side wall, and I'm so glad we found this place. They were too. Here again for our Mini Cooper S which comes with run flat tires. We had a nail in a tire plugged a few months ago at a different place down the street, and its now leaking. We found out that had we gone to them and patched it from the start, it would have been a much smaller problem. But since the place we went to plugged it, the hole from a small nail is now much bigger, and unfortunately, a patch is likely not going to hold. These guys are honest, passionate, and educate you. ADVICE: ALWAYS PATCH, DO NOT PLUG! I patched it for now, but I know that I will likely have to come back to replace my tires soon since the patch won't likely hold now that the hole is too big. =/ read more

I treat my tires like my shoes. My mother taught me to wear my shoes until you see a hole. You can't do that with a tire. In fact, its dangerous. However, I got to 60k on my tires with plenty of tread but visible side wear that looked hazardous. I believe I could have gone to 75k on this set had I paid attention to my wheel alignment. My tires were rotated regularly, but the problem is you have to go to a special place to do alignment work outside of the "stealership" charging $90 and upward. Richard and Eric were there to help me. They did my alignment for $65. Considering that I run my car through the mechanical wash (which is terrible for the alignment) the alignment will prolong a wheel set replacement for an additional 20-30k miles. The guys here offer solid service with good attitudes. They often have a deal on brand name tires. I just got a pair of Bridgestone tires that were even more cost efficient than Costco, and they installed them within 30 minutes even though I had no appointment! They also aligned and rotated my tires and let me know exactly when I need to return for another rotation and how long my tires should last. So unfortunately, i had an alignment problem. They said that it was a gearbox problem and I have a mechanic check it. He had told me gearbox was good and told me to come here. I came twice and both times refused to help me and just left me there. It was pretty rude for them to tell me "I don't know what to tell you, we can't help you here, go somewhere else." I went to Vitess Tire today because I got a flat tire last night and had trouble finding a tire place open on Sundays. I am quite glad I found them! The service was wonderful and they worked very hard to find the issue with the deflated tire. (There were no objects in it, no cuts, etc. Turns out it was a bad patch job that would only deflate once the tire was back on my vehicle and the weight would force the air out.) The owner talked to me about my tire options and gave me a variety of choices in different price ranges. He said that my front two tires were "economy tires" and he could replace the flat one (on the back) with a similar tire or they could replace it with a higher quality tire (the same as the flat). Here is what he didn't know. Two weeks ago I had my front two tires replaced at a chain tire store in Burbank. The price they charged for their "economy" tires (which they did not tell me where economy tires, in fact they didn't give me any brand choices) were much more expensive than the higher quality tires Vitess offered! I told him how much the Burbank store charged me for the two front tires and he was shocked. I went ahead and replaced both rear tires, they were quite old and worn, with higher quality brand name tires at Vitess and it cost significantly less than the two lower quality tires I purchased two weeks earlier for the front. It was a happy accident that I stumbled onto Vitess, thanks to Yelp! They have been in that location for over 30 years and they provided me with honest good service and I shall be a customer there from now on. read more
