The hard shell tacos were so hard they were hard to eat. And the meat inside was ground beef...just a weird choice. Overall, a good experience because it was time spent with friends, but the food needs work.

They're known for their Tijuana style tacos and specifically their adobada ones. I got an Adobada Taco ($4.12) and a half order of Carne Asada Fries ($11.09) this time. The adobada was a little dry and spicier than I remember. Their carne asada fries are pretty basic with crema, avocado sauce and cheese. Not the best but the carne asada had pretty good flavor. It's not the best Mexican food, but if you just want cheap or late night eats, this place will do the job.

I've been a loyal customer of viva el taco for years, but my recent experience was incredibly disappointing. I called ahead to place a pickup order, as I'm always on the go. Despite calling well in advance, the food was still not ready when I arrived. This is the 4th or 5th time where they haven't even started prepping the food until arriving. To make matters worse, when I arrived, the woman at the counter was on a personal call, completely ignoring my presence. It took several minutes before someone else could assist me. Given that the restaurant was practically empty, there's no excuse for this level of service. While I've always enjoyed the food here, I'm starting to question if it's worth the hassle. I hope the management can address these issues to improve the overall customer experience. read more
