The food was okay, although I only ordered taquitos. Unfortunately, the customer service experience was very disappointing. On Sunday evening, my husband stopped in to pick up food. While he was there, a homeless man came in and politely asked for a cup of water. He was told that he needed to be a customer. Since my husband was already a paying customer, he then requested a cup of water to give to the man. Staff refused, stating they believed he intended to give it to the homeless individual. My husband then offered to pay for a cup of water. He was charged $5 for a single cup. He still paid it, as he felt compassion for someone simply asking for water. This situation was extremely disappointing. Refusing water in this manner, especially after a customer offers to pay, reflects poorly on customer service and basic human decency. Additionally, I attempted to contact the business to speak with management, but have not received a callback. Each time I call, I am told management is unavailable. We are very disappointed with this experience. Customer service is extremely important to us when choosing where to spend our money, and based on this interaction, we are reconsidering returning in the future. We hope management will review this situation, address it appropriately, and consider a refund for the $5 charged under these circumstances. read more

Carnitas Nachos are the way to go. Shredded pork is so tender but pieces have a nice crunch. Toppings were super generous and this plate weighed like 5 lbs lol. Split it between 4 people and everyone enjoyed it. The perfect late night meal to absorb all of that booze. read more

My boyfriend is a born and raised Vegas local, so when we were in need of late night food to soak up some drinks he recommended Pepe's. The two guys in my group each had an Al pastor burrito, which were huge! I opted for the carne asada taco and a side of fries. The taco had a hefty amount of meat and onions, which on its own was lacking a little flavor but the red sauce was the perfect- spicy- accompaniment. I found the spice level to be perfect, others in my party thought it was a tad too spicy. Just a matter of preference. The fries were perfectly crisp with a delicious seasoning sprinkled on top. I added the red sauce because I love spice. It was pretty busy at 12:30am, however the wait wasn't anything crazy, only about 10 minutes. There were plenty of tables to accommodate the late night crowd too. All in all, this is a great spot for a quick bite and is much better than other local chains I've tried. read more

I go in there almost ready to pass out and they tell me I need to buy something first and I told them I had no issue doing that just please help me. First it took a long time because there was only one cook and the cashier must have been fairly new cause she had to ask the all my questions. Used to eat here all the time but the employees are ruining the restaurant. when I asked them to remake they gave me a super small burrito ! considering I paid almost 18$ for it ! cashier gave me attitude stated every burrito is weighed and once she weighed it saw it was in fact underweight and were ripping me off. "I've been going here for years, it's my favorite since I was young!" Nostalgia can be tricky; the memories and fondness you have for your favorites can cloak some of the defects you encounter because you remember having your graduation dinner there, celebrating the baptism of your first child, rejoicing in the goal your daughter scored in the tournament, getting drunk off margaritas on your first date after a divorce... whatever it is. Pepe's Restaurant in Las Vegas is definitely that for many who have been here for years, remembering fondly tortas that no longer exist and wondering if the new quesabirria tacos are any good. The thing is, time doesn't wait, and neither does Pepe's as it's menu has changed over the years. They still offer tacos, tortas, guaraches, sopes, etc., but also offer newer items to keep up with the times. I, of course, got tacos, one al pastor, one buche, one asada, and one cabeza. I immediately noticed these were your run of the mill store bought tortillas; not even the top of the line ones you can get at H‑E‑B, nope, these were the mechanized soft corn stamped pressings you get. These tortillas are pretty flimsy, thus the need to double up on them. No worries though, even a tag team effort can't forgo a breakup as the tortillas wrestle with the contents they hood which eventually ends in a submission. "You're going to love these tacos! I remember getting them when I was little, they're so good!" The asada was pretty good and well done, with a great taste and juicy throughout. The tortillas eventually divorced under the pressure of holding up. The buche was executed perfectly, not too greasy, crispy, and chewy but hit only one note. Not a lot of depth which really sucked because of well it was prepared. Buche can be very fatty but this one was just right. My well known gripe with al pastor in Nevada & Califas is the preparation and resting of the meat; when it's cut straight from the trompo you get that juiciness, the subtle sweetness, the char... they let the meet rest a bit and as a result the al pastor suffers from it. I'm just not used to this chunked version vs the thinly sliced traditional style I get in Texas. Rounding out the tacos was the cabeza which was tasty and full of flavor which was a home run for me. "Wait, you don't have the torta de milanesa anymore?" We also got the mulita de asada which consisted of two tortillas with cheese and asada in a sandwich like structure. As a fan of the cheesepull, this mulita was on point, tasty and gooey. The aguas were pretty good, obviously of the powder mix but well produced. I had the horchatero which wasn't overly heavy. The piña was super good, pieces of pineapple peppered in the styrofoam vessel really accentuated the flavor. "So what did you think? It's good huh?" "It reminds me of my favorite restaurant ever." It was true, in the Southside of San Antonio, you couldn't tell me NOTHING re: my beloved Don Pedro's. I might straight slap you if I take you to my spot and you cast any doubt at its greatness... "It's really good" As we walked out, at the corner of my eye, I saw the piles of bagged tortillas, little minefields waiting to explode on your plate once you threw on the chicharron. "It's about as good as I expected it to be." And I'll definitely remember it next time I'm wondering where to go, because it's worth going once in awhile but there's other places I need to explore before I come back. Pro tip: get the limonada and jamaica and make a remix worthy of singing a few notes. read more

Cons: Sketchy area. 75 cent extra charge to use credit card (what century are we in??) and the cashier did not tell me that because I had cash on me but paid with credit card and saw the extra charge after. Menu prices are lower than actual prices charged. At 2am there were only two customers ordering in front of me and each took about 5-7 minutes to place their damn order. My legs gave out from standing for so long in that line. The food then took another 20 minutes while I welted further. WHY?? It's a fucking burrito. Slap the meat in and it's a wrap. Literally. Never been a great experience but I was so hungry and tired and the line at Taco El Gordo was INSANE! This place still beats the shit out of Taco El Gordo anyday. read more
