I don't usually leave 1 star reviews but I am really upset with how my hair was done. I did a ton of research and decided to go with Tayjah for my hair after seeing her work on previous clients. I felt nervous about my hair even before I went in because her texts got increasingly dry and short the closer it got to my scheduled appointment. I wanted to cut my hair short by a few inches after having long hair for a while. I had to tell her that I want to see how my hair looks by cutting an inch at a time. I stopped asking her to cut it shorter because it was not looking any better. After she cut and blow dried it, my hair looked uneven and choppy. Usually hair stylists give you a mirror to see your hair from behind but not this time. I didn't know how it looked from the back until after the appointment. After she blow dried my hair, my ends were heavily swayed to the left. I grew more suspicious that she didn't care about my hair. I asked her to curl it hoping it would fix the uneven cut but my hair looked even shorter after curling. I thought it looked okay at the salon but after washing my hair and seeing it in its natural state from behind, it's actually more uneven and choppy than I thought. I felt horrible and still regret trusting her with my hair. As for color, I asked for a brown dimensional balayage and showed her pictures before the appointment and day of the appointment. She disregarded any of the pictures I showed her and left streaky random highlights from the 2000s around the base of my head that's not blended in with my hair. I had a bad feeling going in, and it only got worse. I feel embarrassed about my hair and my confidence plummeted. I want my long hair back. read more

Today I went to Viva hair studio on sahara and Fort Apache to get my highlights revived and got assisted by the lovely jsika Marquez. She provided exceptional customer service, made me feel comfortable and very welcomed she also educated me on products to use on my hair since we did use bleach on my hair so it can stay nice and healthy. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. I did hesitate to go forward with my appointment when I saw what was walking out of there. I should have listened to my gut. A colorist highlighted my hair and ruined my hair color completely trying to hide her mistake. It was so bad, the owner, Jules, offered to fix it at her expense. I had to wait for the toner to wash out (which was months), drove 40 minutes to an early morning appointment at which time she told me she wanted $550 plus plus plus. She lied. Simple as that. As someone who relies heavily on Yelp reviews and trusted the glowing reviews for my appointment yesterday, I feel the need to write my first ever review to potential save any future brides the heartbreak I'm currently facing. I have been trying to find a new hairstylist after moving recently, and from the glowing reviews and examples I was excited to try Tayjah at this salon. In the chair we agreed for 2 inches to be taken off, with some long layers and face framing starting at the chin. I explained I have naturally wavy/curly hair that I usually wear in a pony tail so want to be sure a style looks good straight or styled, but also with my natural texture (which I know is a hard ask). I also talked about how my wedding is 3 months away and I've been trying to keep my hair long and healthy for that. Im not sure when the plan changed but since she started at the back of my head, by the time I saw the length she was cutting it was too late. I didn't even realize at this point she hadn't truly been cutting layers yet and when she started cutting more I had to stop her, explaining I was shocked at the length. Her response to me was that my hair "needed it" and I should've expected to look different after a hair cut. I feel like I let her talk me into liking it in the moment, and she talked me off the ledge making me walk out semi-confident in the haircut; and to be fair it's a cute haircut, and of course feels way healthier taking off the length. If I wasn't about to take the most memorable photos in my life in 3 months I would probably end up liking the cut. However, I didn't ask for my ends to be the healthiest they've ever been as someone who is trying to keep length for bridal hair and hairstyles. What happens when you feel like you're growing out of Yelp? It comes through for you. I just needed a wash, blowout and quick spruce and chose 9037 Salon based on reviews. There were solid conclusions on core stylists, not 30 names to choose from like the places I might be attracted to when it comes to big city salons. There were also a lot of notes on cleanliness so I was half sold there. Skip ahead and it's true, the salon was hygienically pleasing and tidy. Rewind it back and what particularly moved me was the way they responded to any criticism (on Yelp). It's a reflection of their work ethic and it was just so cool. At the end of the day, customer service is paramount in my book. I didn't care who styled my hair as long as they weren't a jerk; I was on a schedule and it was a spontaneous salon visit so my expectations were basic. Making an appointment last minute was a breeze and I'm thankful, otherwise it might have never happened. Not sure if I got lucky or not. Taylor Carter is so wonderful for both color and cut! As someone with Asian hair, it's extremely difficult to find someone who can color Asian hair well and cut our straight straight straight hair, but Taylor does it soooo well! I'm someone who likes my hair medium/short and she knows how to razor it to give it dimension. Last year, I went all blond for the first time and Taylor had the pleasure of doing it! I was extremely pleased of the resulting color and didn't experience any breakage at all that some can have. Unfortunately I had a bad experience here! I was very clear what I was looking for and she completely understand me. Once she finishes, she told that my hair color will change a little bit after couple washes, I give her the benefit of the doubt but it was the complete opposite it. I contacted her and She texted me back a week later telling me that if I wanted to go back and of course I said yes. The salon itself is incredibly clean and well-lit, and every staff member I encountered was SO friendly, which created a super welcoming atmosphere. Jordan Harden was the stylist who cut my hair, and she did an excellent job! I had shown her a photo of the type of hair style I was going for, and she totally knocked it out of the park. When I had my first apt she did not disappoint with an amazing color transformation! My tape in extensions looked fantastic as well. I wasn't going to leave a bad review because the owner and I came to terms regarding my bad experience with the stylist Victor but I'm just beyond upset with the turn out. I just moved from CA a couple months ago and I was looking forward to finding a new stylist that can work with my hair. I specifically asked the receptionist who booked my hair cut and color to put me with someone who is experienced with cutting curly hair (this was my main concern). Anyone who has curly hair knows if they cut your hair too short it's only going to scrunch up and make you look like a mushroom! I came in for a consult with Victor and voiced all my concerns. I was happy to hear he had time to do both services that same day. He began by cutting my hair dry, as he recommended would be best to maintain the length and boy when I tell you he messed my hair up bad!! It was uneven and looked so choppy. Keep in mind I couldn't tell before I left the salon because he curled my hair with the curling iron. Not until the next day I straightened it and saw what was the most disastrous hair cut I've had by far! I was beyond upset that I trusted these people with my hair only to be treated like a Guinea pig. This stylist had only been working at this salon two months and clearly had no experience cutting curly hair. My hair grows so slow too!! I got in contact with the owner and she agreed it was only fair to reimburse me for the cut. She also offered to fix my hair cut but I declined as I didn't feel comfortable with anyone in that salon laying another finger on my hair. That same day I called up my previous stylist and booked the soonest appt available. I flew to LA only for my stylist to break the bad news to me and tell me I can't get anything other than a solid base color for years to come until my hair grows out. He also had to cut my hair a lot shorter than I would like. It is currently shoulder length straightened and I'm afraid to see how it will look curly when I wash my hair, which will lead me to continue to straighten my hair more often that I would like leading to further heat damage. Again I'm never one to post a bad review but this is just unacceptable. I just want to save anyone who is thinking about booking an appt here some time, money and stress. I am so bummed, I was looking forward to getting my hair done walking out feeling good about myself. I also don't want to take away from the stylists rep, I understand everyone has to start somewhere but the salon also has to be held accountable. There should be some sort of training process to ensure the stylist knows what he or she is doing instead of having them experiment on clients. I legit feel like I was their Guinea pig! I'm disappointed by the work that was done and the years I've lost growing out my hair and now unable to highlight my hair. What a disaster!!
