The original location of CHIMAC This location off of 1960, never have peas or carrots. They don't receive them to sell out. The rice here for the large fried rice was hard and undercook, my son couldn't complete it, and he really tried to fight pass the harden bits of rice, but he didn't consume even half of the meal. They were closed when we received our ordered, and the staff departed once we discovered the undercooked (or either outdated rice) textured. I reached out by phone, I can't remember if I left a voicemail or the number wouldn't adore me to, either way it didn't get resolved from this location. The Best location is Barker Cypress across from heb. They have more veggie options and a phone number to be reached at.

Our go to for wings. Tonight's order was: Hot Lemon Pepper Cajun Houstalanta BBQ The wings are cooked to perfection and seasoned well. We have only done pickup and they are always on time and the staff is friendly when I go in for our order.

Not sure if what I ordered was the wrong thing? But was not impressed. I had the food delivered, not sure if that made a difference. Will give them another try soon.

Service was nice and no long wait for food. I tried the Philly and chicken bowl. Philly was standard, not the best, not the worst. The bowl is a nice concept but was not good. The chicken was grilled nicely with light flavor but the noodles were mushy and bad tasting which ruined the whole thing for me. Also the cabbage and kimchi didn't make it any better. If there were different toppings it would be better

6/10 got the Korean BBQ chicken with noodles. The chicken itself was okay, decent flavor but nothing super memorable. The noodles, though, were not good at all. They were drenched in soy sauce to the point where it was hard to eat, way too salty and overpowering. I definitely would not order the noodles again. If you come here, I'd suggest getting rice instead. Overall, it was an okay meal, but not something I'd go out of my way for again.

Came here during my lunch time. I order the Large Bowl Combo - (Bowl, 6 wings, & drink) $20.49 4/5 stars. I choose Salad Pork Bowl with Korean BBQ Flavor bone in wings. The restaurant is on 1960 (by Willowbrook Mall area) and it looks kinda run down. But the food was good. I called to place my order and went through the drive thru for pick up. A quick and yummy lunch meals. Everything was flavorful.

The Chimac location off 290 and Barker is delicious, and this Chimac location is no different! Amazing, tasty, unique food with great service. Love all of the bowls, wings, chicken... everything is great.

I have driven by here so many times, finally decided to stop by and try it out. You walk in and orde at the counter. The restaurant itself was pretty small and they did have a lot of take out and delivery orders. The staff is nice but we did wait a while for our food. Once it arrived we did enjoy the sauce flavors and the meal overall. They do have a nice Korean flavor in their sauces but we did think that in comparison to other Korean fried chicken places the breading is not as light and airy.

So, I decided to give their bowls a try. When I walked in, no one looked up or greeted me -- I actually had to say something first. The cashier was nice, though, so points for that. But they really need to work on their customer service. Then there was the overwhelming smell of Fabuloso. It was so strong it almost made me walk right back out! I want to smell food cooking, not cleaning products -- that was a little suspect. I went ahead and ordered the combo: a large steak bowl with noodles and six wings for $22. My heart dropped when she said $27 -- like, how?! Turns out they charge $3 extra for noodles, and I regret it because they were super mushy. Should've stuck with the rice. The steak was tasty -- a little salty but flavorful. They barely give any cabbage, the kimchi portion was tiny, and it was loaded with onions. The wings were okay -- small and not enough BBQ sauce. And to top it off, the Sprite had a funky taste, like maybe the filter needs to be cleaned.

We enjoyed our first time here. The waitress was patient with us and recommended the steak bowl for me. It was delicious! We really enjoyed our time here.

While the food was great, the customer service lacked. Seemed as if they didn't want to be there on a Sunday or at all. I kept explaining it's our first time dining here and she could care less. ‍ Customer Service Food ! Restaurant vibes were cute, clean bathrooms so I appreciated that. I ordered the steak bowl with noodles, while my husband had the pork with fried rice!! We switched back and forth sharing bowls. Food was great, although with the steak bowl, the noodles were waaay over sauced and made it hard to finish. It was too sweet for my liking. The sauce overpowered the dish.

Chimac is a nice quick restaurant that gives you a switch up from the more common options around it while also still serving up familiar favorites. If you are in the Northwest area of Houston it is definitely worth a try. I first tried Chimac back in 2019 and of the items ordered one of them was a solid hit steak bowl while the other was a complete miss chicken bowl. The bowls then were plainer and didn't come with as many items. Since then any time I've gone I've been very happy with the food I received. I by no means am an expert or even heavily versed in Korean BBQ but for the fast food/fast casual food they put out I enjoy it. The main draw of Chimac is their KBBQ bowls and most times I go there that is exactly what I get. They also offer other times such as chicken wings, chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, fried fish and shrimp and Philly cheese steak subs. Even though all these options are offered 90% of the time I'm probably getting either the Spicy KBBQ Chicken Bowl or the Korean Jerk Chicken Bowl. They also offer steak, shrimp and pork options for the bowls. The bowls can be served over either white rice, fried rice, noodles or salad. It gets topped with cabbage, grilled onions and kimchi. I'm pretty sure every time I've eaten from here I've had it over fried rice and recommend you do too. The wings aren't a stand out compared to other items they offer but they do have some cool flavors and they are good. I haven't tried their tenders or seafood but I have had the Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Philly Cheese Steak Sub. I've had the sandwich twice and the first time I had it, it was banging. I don't usually be eat tomatoes on my burgers or sandwiches but it had a green tomatoe that with the fried chicken was just fire. Now I will say the second time I had it, it was only okay so I'll need to try it a third time to see which is more typical. I only recently had the sub and it was really good. It may not stand up to a place that specializes in Phillys but for a Korean BBQ place it over delivered on what I expected. The fries are also good here. I'm pretty sure they're just frozen fries but they have a nice golden crisp on them and are much better than the frozen fries I feel like most similar places serve. I haven't tried it here but they also offer kimchi fries. This is one of those places that you might look at the menu and think they offer a lot of options but they seem to do a good job of making sure what they offer is good.

Do they use white breast meat?

    Do they serve halal meat?

    We do not.

One common thread in the reviews suggest this place may be stingy on their protein. Is that still the case or is that a "one off" sort of thing?

I have not been there in awhile. I will try it again. However, I will say that we have been there many times, and we have never had that problem. Ever.

Is there any Korean fried chicken?

Korean fried chicken is on the way recipe straight from Korea (new machines and recipe is ready) We'll bring it out once all of our front staff, kitchen, and management is at A+ service. Please be patient, it will be well worth it 🙏

Are the wings breaded or traditional style without breading?

Traditional style and have some good flavors to choose from.

How long should one expect to wait for take out or plan to dine in?

The wait is most likely not even longer than 10 minutes! But the service and food is very nice! Delicious!

I was impressed by the portion size, because each half could've been placed in a separate bowl, add more broth (shaved ice and a slice of Korean pear optional), and that's two portions in most places. Historically, these noodle dishes were a rare treat and a delicacy, as these noodles were very labor intensive and hard to make (although I'm sure they're mass produced now), and had to be served cold in the summer heat. Banchan was tasty too, including the kimchi which was early in the fermentation stage. The kimchi pancake was huge, definitely had to take this one to go, and came with an optional Korean-style spicy soy dipping sauce. I ordered the combo and went with the Bulgogi, which was tender and tasty, but didn't come sizzling so the pan it came in was more for display. Still, great good, fantastic value, and definitely the real deal. It's not as fancy as some of the more expensive neighborhoods of Houston (and a bit out of the way for me), but sometimes you just want some really tasty and unpretentious Korean comfort food.

My husband's seolleongtang was amazing too. The banchan was fresh and well-prepared, and every dish we had was delicious. The service was absolutely perfect. The ladies working there were incredibly kind and even brought my husband extra noodles for his soup without us asking. That small gesture really made our experience even more memorable. Thank you so much! There's a decent amount of parking, but dinner time gets pretty busy, so I'd recommend arriving early since it's not a very large restaurant. 10/10. This is probably one of our favorite Korean BBQ spots in Houston…read more It's all-you-can-eat and even includes sushi and sashimi. Personally, I haven't tried those because Korean BBQ and sushi together just feels a little odd to me. I grew up in LA where we usually went to separate places for each, but I'm sure plenty of people enjoy having both options. The meat quality is really good, and everything is well-seasoned and flavorful. My only complaint is the soups--they don't really taste like the traditional Korean soups they're supposed to be. They could definitely use some improvement. That said, other side dishes like the tteokbokki are actually really good. For the price, it's an excellent value. The service is usually good, although it can be a little inconsistent depending on your server. One thing I really like is that they include dessert, such as Korean ice cream bars, regular ice cream, and other sweet treats. We've been here several times already and definitely plan on coming back. That said, the consistency of both service and food quality between visits can be noticeable. Service can be very slow at times, even when the restaurant isn't particularly busy. We've had issues with banchan not being brought out, grills not being turned on, and fish orders taking nearly an hour to arrive. Food quality can also be hit or miss. For example, the Cheese Crab Puffs have occasionally arrived completely cold with barely any crispiness or color, and we've had similar issues with other appetizers. My favorites are the Garlic Salmon Sashimi, Black Angus Marinated Short Rib, Wagyu Beef Belly, Black Angus Rib Finger, and Thick Cut Pork Belly. I also enjoy the Takoyaki, Crispy Tuna Rice, and Tteokbokki. There are a few dishes I would skip, including the Spicy Scallop Sashimi and Nigiri unless you enjoy very small scallops, the Baked Green Mussels, which are overly sweet, and the Prime Beef Brisket, which I've found to be tough and dry. Overall, there are plenty of dishes I genuinely enjoy here, but the inconsistency keeps this from being a place I can wholeheartedly recommend. When everything is executed well, it's a great meal, but you never quite know what kind of experience you're going to get. That being said, I tend to get good ones the majority of the time.

Staff was very respectful and quick, on par with fine dining. Had to wave over some folks to request another order or utensils and they were on it. Kudos.

The service was a little slow at first, but I saw the owner of the manager come out and make sure everything got taken care of so props to him for being aware and making sure all the clients were taken care of. Food: everything we had was simply amazing. The beef fried rice was made to perfect perfection. Every single bite was so good. You can tell the use quality, beef here and quality rice. The fried dumplings were amazing. Every bite was so good. Last the chicken dish I can't remember the name of it, but oh yes, maybe it was called bolugi chicken? The service was good, and the food was okay for what it is. The standout dish was definitely the LA Galbi. It was flavorful, although the portion size felt a little small for the price. One downside was that there were quite a few flies inside the restaurant, which became pretty annoying during our meal. Overall, it is a good spot if you are looking for a quick meal to satisfy your Korean food craving.
