Great atmosphere and amazing chicken tacos! I would give 5 stars if our server had actually come to our table more than once. I also stood in front of the host stand for a couple minutes with 2 employees sitting down and chatting behind it, pretending like I didn't exist. It was very awkward and unprofessional. The only thing I didn't like was that we felt rushed because it turns into a club we were told when we walked in. I feel they should not put tables on the dance floor than. Spent over 2k and then was escorted from the bar because we was crowding the vip even though we reserved two tables and then they insisted we leave after we ordered a house round of shots. I recommend getting here early because the bar gets packed quick! We arrived around 830ish? On a saturday night. We decided on drinks/apps/ and hookah so they seated us at the bar. The dining room is a pretty good size but unless you buy dinner they make ya go to the bar area! The drinks are good here, but I didn't think they were very strong. We had rounds on rounds on rounds, I had a slight buzz after like 3 rounds of drinks and a few shots. Hookah is CASH ONLY! And pretty weaaaak compared to the hookah I make at home. Plus the hookah guys make up their own prices. It was $25 for the group next to us but $30 for ours. Tuh?! music is popping though and the crowd is chill! Vibes on point for that! Was recommended by a friend of mine to come to this place. Music was really good. Drinks were okay. Bartenders were polite and helpful behind the bar. My Biggest regret was going there because my brother lost his phone at that place. We drove from a different state that night to visit some friends at viva toro. My brother couldn't Uber himself home or use his Apple pay because it was on his phone and it was stolen. He drove back the next day to find his phone because he tracked his phone to find it at a strip club in south Hackensack. The DJ that worked that night in toro stole the phone and was at his next Dj gig in south Hackensack. The Dj told my brother that the security guard gave him the phone but never announced it over the Mic when we were looking for it around the lounge/club for 30 mins. Instead of returning it to management he just took it home with him. It's a big slap in our faces that we come there and paid the entrance fee with 10 people and spent hundreds of dollars to support that place. This is how the DJ repays us. How you steal from people who pay to see and listen to your entertainment. I bet if he lost his phone he would want someone to return it to him. He really thought he was going to get away with it. I will never return to this establishment because they steal there. So everyone please watch over your things and don't lose your phone which is a normal thing to do since we were all drinking and having fun. Horrible venue. They charge $40 cover charge to get in. Security is terrible. I witnessed them taking cash to let people in wearing certain attire and denied others entry because of it. They are rude to you if you are not Dominican. Be prepared to experience racism here as you see from other reviews. Beyond that this place is disgusting. They have multiple health code and COVID violations. There was spilled food and drinks all over the floor. I'll be reporting this place to the health department. Save your money before you waste $40 to get in. There's a reason there is a big curtain when you walk in so you have to pay them $40 first to see inside. read more

At best guacamole had no seasoning and the empanadas were tiny maybe 1 full size empanada cut in half, drinks were nothing special frozen pre mixed drinks from frozen machine. Music was on point. I loved Viva Toro prior to this new location. Now I have no desire to go back. Pricing definitely increased! My favorite drink wasn't the same. Although I liked the music selection, I literally had to scream across the table when talking because it was way too loud. Once we got our food, I did not see my server again for a long time. Came here with friends for a birthday. When my friends got there at 11 there was no cover charge i got there at 11:50 and there was a $20 cover charge for each of us. Our table was by the bathroom. If you reserve a table STAY AWAY from tables on the wall where the bathroom is. the workers and people walk by constantly and if you are dancing in the walk way the workers tell you to move. The security actually told my friend to go sit down. The workers are honestly acting like a hall monitor. I was standing up next to my table talking to my friend and a worker hit me in my hips/stomach with a milk container with alcohol with them. He didn't hit me on the side, like in passing he hit the front of my body no apology. The music is really good mix of dancing music. I had a good time but your space is extremely limited if you are on that back wall. Would I come back? only if I'm not on that back wall, honestly bottles are really expensive here. Worst bouncers ever... I was in Viva Toro for over three hours, buying hundreds of dollars worth of drinks for me and my friends. After I left I realized I forgot my phone inside and went back, the bouncers would not let me back inside to simply look for my phone. I was not drunk, I was not belligerent. With all the drastic changes NYC restaurants have faced within the last year due to covid, I am very satisfied with the service offered at the new Viva Toro. As a business owner myself, I was happily welcomed and even spoke to one of the owners! - I came on a Saturday evening, at the door my husband and I were checked by their hired security which insured our safety (loved this because you just never know with people, especially after a of couple drinks in them)! - My husband started with their delicious Pinono (first time trying). Then my husband had Del Mar ala Tierra and I had the Salmon Borracho. Our dishes took a little while to come out due to the kitchen being understaffed and the heavy foot traffic that day. Super understandable since I know there has been lack of new hires due to COVID. Because of the mutual understanding I was compensated with a drink on the house, thank you once again haha! - They played all sorts of music from Spanish to English. I don't speak an inch of Spanish but I loved the environment, very uplifting. From watching people sing their favorite songs to dancing to every beat! Luckily we came on a DJ night. DJ engaged with the entire audience and it was lovely to watch :) - Upon arrival I was informed of their nightlife hours which are from 11-4AM I believe because the kitchen closes at 10:30PM. The owner had discussed with us the transition between their restaurant and lounge. Cover charges are placed at the door for new guests coming in for their nightlife (This is no surprise to me since I've seen this in a couple of spots). So my husband and I decided to stay for a bit to check it out. The ambiance transition was incredible to watch. Lights change, doors begin to ID since it's a 21+ environment. After closing our check a bottle menu was presented to us. We politely declined and stood with our refreshing Smoky & Tropical drinks at the bar. It was brought to my attention that Viva Toro relocated from another place and only have a few months open. As a supportive client and associate, Viva Toro has their advantages and disadvantages as any business. But in the midst of the new restaurant era COVID has placed on NYC, Viva Toro seems to be adapting pretty well to the changes. I look forward to coming back, hopefully for my daughter's birthday. The only thing saving this place is the quality of food. Because their customer service is horrible. My friend makes a reservation and I get there before them and inform them that I'm here and if I can sit down. They said the table isn't ready yet and for me to wait, my friends arrive 10m later and we tell them our party is here. We again had to wait 10 additional minutes to be seated. We sit down and our appetizers come out fast. But our entrees took 50m to come out. And the bill wasn't even correct which we then had to speak to the manager about. The context of my review is a Friday night scene at this bar/club. There is a cover fee (totally normal), $40 for men and $20 for women. Then there is a mandatory coat check, which I've never come across and leads to the question what kind of sketchy clientele are they anticipating but I won't hold that against them. My issue is that they require you to check your coat and then make you pay $5 for that on top of a hefty cover fee. I know there are spots that charge way more for entry but I'm not getting a rooftop in midtown experience. The music was great but that was probably due to the DJ (Funkflex) and I'm not sure it's always that good (can't say, I'm not there every night). The drinks were decent in both price and value but nothing to rave about. Hookah was good but of course another $30 to thrown down. The crowd was an interesting mix of sizes ages shapes colours and creed. Just expect to spend a lot of cash before you even make it to the bar and then spend a lot more cash getting drunk enough to make it worth it. I highly recommend a pre-game to get the most out of this spot. read more

I want to start by saying I've been to the old viva toro and the service was no better then the new viva toro on grand street so we went for an even a group of us for my cousins bday dinner had reservations paid 45 a ticket for dr Camilo & dj Adonis that was no where to be seen anyway they couldn't seat us because they needed the whole party there also it took them a while to sit us down and it wasn't that packed at the time we were told to be there they mentioned to us if we didn't arrive on time they would give up our reservations to another person /group after we sit it took the waitress long to come we all ordered drinks & appetizer and the dinner the bartender must of taken 30-35 min maybe more to come with our drinks the appetizer came with the dinner because she said that she couldn't bring it before which makes no sense that's why is called appetizer because u want it before the dinner my plate was horrible I gave it right back to the waiter also while we were eating the waitress comes with a cake and starts singing while we all trying to have dinner that was suppose to be done after not before horrible service never thought I'd say anything bad about viva but yesterday was def a horrible experience we bought bottles after they take all of us to VIP they didn't give us bracelets so we had to walk to the front of the rest again because they wanted us all to walk and get them then we ordered bottles and they bring one by one I don't get it but def had to write my review it was def not what I expected and 18 and over crowd wasn't feeling the vibes at all if it wasn't because we paid for tickets and had reservations I would had left from the start...... read more
