Was feeling in the greasy food mood today and decided to give this place a shot since it was super close to our house. If you ride the bus this place is SUPER convenient because its right on the 61A line. Their menu selection is pretty extensive. We ended up getting the steak hoagie, Italian calzone, and a cheese pizza. Of course, you can never leave out dessert so we went with cookies. The steak in the hoagie was a bit dry and chewy for my taste but the calzone and cheese pizza were quite good for the price. The cookies are way too overpriced and nothing special - you can get way better-tasting cookies from the bakery section of giant eagle down the street. Reading the reviews from other yelpers, I can confirm that the service is questionable. When we walked in nobody was available to take our order for a good five minutes - this might be because they are understaffed. Once the lady can out from the back she was very nice and helpful.

I've ordered from Vocelli Pizza several times and always had a good experience. The pizza is great. Today I did a DoorDash order and my pizza unfortunately had hair on it. I received a refund from DoorDash but it sucks I won't be able to order from them anymore. Hair is a hard thing for me to get past. Maybe the cooks should wear hairnets.

My neighborhood go-to pizza takeout joint. Sadly, however, the quality of this place has gone a tad downhill. Today, NYD, our pizza arrived stone cold in a soggy cardboard box. And the XL size is now the size of a MED, which is bad news for two big hungry football watchin' dudes and a hung over gal (ahem, it is NYD, folks). Get it together, Vocelli's Swissvale. You are walking a very thin line. But, I am willing to give you another chance in 2012.

Stopped in on this "soft opening" evening, seeing they were open. We ordered a number of things - cheese steak hoagie, shrimp and fries, onion rings and some grape leaves. It was hot and ready in 15 minutes. Took everything home (including some rice pudding the very friendly and personable owner threw in gratis) and we started chomping. Great food...my son said the hoagie was excellent, and the very large breaded shrimp were terrific, as were the fries and onion rings. Great chow! The one and only observation would be that the grape leaves seemed a bit too...soft inside? Overall though, Forest Hills has another winner in the borough! Try them! Thumbs up!

The cheesesteak was tomato, lettuce, and onion. we all know a Philly cheesesteak doesn't have lettuce, tomato, and onion, but it was very good. The owner was friendly, outgoing and helpful. Being from the area, I cannot believe I have never heard of this place before. I put it on my short list of places to try, and one day when out in the Monroeville area, I was finally able to stop. Like I said, the concept is simple. This place serves pizza. There is one size, and some toppings to choose from. At the time of writing this, pizzas are $8 and it is cash only. The price includes any toppings you want to put on. They are open Thursday through Sunday from 4 until 7:30. Orders are placed over the phone, and then picked up through the side/basement door of a normal residential house. We placed an order for three pizzas, and they were to be ready for pickup in about 30 minutes. We got one Pepperoni, one Mushroom and Onion, and one with Sausage and Extra Cheese. When we arrived, there was another person picking up, but our pies were hot and ready. The ladies working were quick and kind. The pizzas are truly so good! The crust is not too thick or too thin, and the sauce is a sweeter one. All of the pies we got we liked, but the sausage was a true winner for us personally. One pizza could easily feed two or three people, and they are cut into 8 slices. I cannot wait to have this place again. The pizza was great, the ambiance and entire operation give off everything that classic Pittsburgh is about - no frills, but a great product. Plus, you cannot beat the value. Will definitely be back soon!

Be kind if the pizza isn't what you've "expected" Again, you won't find this style outside of the Pittsburgh area... understand your icons! Third: toppings are not methodically distributed like Dominoes: so the plus side is you often get "more" ... just because there's 10 pieces of pepperoni on one slice and four on another is part of the fun!!
