Six years ago I was impressed. Now, a bit less. I ordered a Martini which was watered down. Needless to say I didn't finish it. My husband had an Old Fashioned which was watered down and also unfinished. My husband had a bacon cheeseburger . I had Grilled Octopus which was fresh and delicious. Then I had a plate of pasta with grilled chicken. It was okay, nothing to make it stand out to my taste buds. When the bill came it was over $200.00. We were out and about today and needed to grab something quick for lunch. So, we found this place. Pretty nice outside. I didn't go in since we had the puppies with us, and we wanted to get home. But, my significant other said it was nice inside. He ordered fish stuffed with crab meat, and veggies. I ordered chicken marsala, with mashed potatoes, and veggies, and clams. I didnt realize it had bacon on it. I tried it. The chicken marsala was good, except it was a little bit salty. The veggies, other than the string beans, everything was good, and I enjoyed the mash. The clams was excessively salty, so I really didnt enjoy that. Thats the only reason for the 4 stars. I'll be more than happy to give this place a go again. read more

Let me tell you about my latest find. This is a charming,rustic, dining spot. Upon entering you are greeted with smiles & welcomed. The menu is extensive & offers specials for each course even special cocktails.The food was delicious. I started off with eggplant chips which were thinly sliced & served with tzatziki sauce I had the soft shell crab special & believe me these were sautéed to perfection-so delicious & quite large. Our server Danielle was very friendly & knowledgeable.My husband had lobster with crabmeat stuffed shrimp. The portions were large.Our friend had a delicious lobster roll piled high with fresh lobster meat accompanied by delicious French fries. Our dinner for 6 tonight was excellent! We chose Parlor House because we were looking for a casual dinner between Manorville and Massapequa, and Parlor House showed up in my YELP search. I didn't know what to expect, but what I can say is all 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed our appetizers and entrees. I especially enjoyed my Seafood Fra Diavlo, mildly spicy with the freshest seafood ingredients. For apps, the eggplant chips, boneless chicken fingers, and baked clams all were superb. Went here for the first time and got the prime rib dip. The specials for Oktoberfest were great. The pork schnitzel with the potato pancake and the pretzel-crusted chicken tasted amazing! Bread on table lightly warmed, drinks tasted good. Cocktails were appropriately priced, flavored and served quickly. I have to tell you, we just love this spot. Since Parlor house took the spot I've been nothing but happy with everything. Owner is great! She hooked us up with a table for an early New Year's Eve dinner.We decided to eat out when everything was up in the air, at the last minute and dinner again was amazing!!!!! Thanks again for a wonderful New Year's Eve. The seafood dishes blew away some of the seafood restaurants in the area. The Chicken park was Better than the Italian places in the area. ... arrived on this past Sunday just before 7pm ... a large party was just leaving as I entered and I was the only guest in the dining room ... the waitress sat me in a corner, told me the specials and took my drink order, and I went to the bathroom ... when I returned she had sat an older couple and their very poorly behaved spoiled brat right next to me ( mind you there was an entire empty dining room ) ... the couple argued as the child acted out for the remainder of my dinner ... my grilled octopus appetizer arrived and I asked for some bread ... the waitress came back with the bread and my salad and as I was about to try my first bite a hostess serves my entree ... remember, there's only one other table and the kitchen is open for 2 more hours ... the octopus was ok, nothing spectacular for $ 29, and they didn't have anchovies for the Greek salad, the waitress came to check on me and noticed that my entree had been served while I was on the first bite of my appetizer and asked if I wanted her to put it up under the glow ray to keep warm while I ate the rest of my appetizer and salad ... when I was ready for the entree it arrived way overdone and dried out ... I asked her to wrap it up to go and paid my bill while the couple sitting next to me continued to cluelessly attempt to chastise their out of control 10 year old ... I really should have left a review for this place a long time ago. Their food is always good and the service is outstanding. The woman that owns the place is always attentive and super nice. She recognizes us every time we come in. We've never had a bad meal here. I can't say that each and every dish is magnificent, but the food always tastes good and it enjoyable. Tonight we started with the mussels and wings and both were the perfect way to start our evening, paired nicely with our beers of choice. I then had a pasta dish (can't remember the name but it was penne with sun dried tomatoes, broccoli and mushrooms) and it was excellent. My husband had the chicken francese and thought it was good... nearly cleared his plate (and it was a lot of food). We would have had dessert but were just too full! I definitely recommend this restaurant... the atmosphere is casual and cozy (we sat but the fireplace tonight). The service is friendly and accommodating. We have been here multiple times, and the food is always delicious. Tonight, Breanna was our server, and she was great. Baked clams were delicious, and the steak tidbits were tender and flavorful for appetizers. I had the francese soft shell crabs, which were amazing. My side, the creamed spinach, which is normally delicious, had way too much dill tonight. My husband ordered the Chicken Sorrentino. It was nothing like Chicken Sorrentino. The Chef needs to Google what it actually is. It was served as an extremely thick chicken cutlet parmagiana. Chicken Sorrentino is made in a brown gravy. Food was a little off tonight, but we have always enjoyed and will be back for another try. read more

New Years Eve Lunch. Braised Beef in burgundy sauce melts in your mouth! Wife had the Broiled Seafood Platter and licked the plate clean with the complementary fresh bread. The shell was nice and fresh, the flair of mixing the greens with Russian dressing before putting the taco meat made this standout from other Taco Salads. It has been years since we dined at this location and it was most disappointing. My wife ordered the sea bass special but sent it back because it was very soft and needed additional cooking. When it was returned it seemed that nothing was done, still soft and like mush, she could not eat it, a waste of $40. My swordfish was dry even though I requested that it not be over cooked. Been here many times, took my mother-in-law, she ordered Chicken Sorrentino. claimed it was the best she ever had. I had the Prime French Dip. My wife had Chicken Saltimbocca. Exceptional! We visited Parlor House on a Sunday at around 2pm and ordered from the regular menu. We started with eggplant chips and fried calamari. Both were excellent. My son ordered chicken saltimbocca with pasta. He said it was really good. I had the grilled pork chops with gravy and applesauce and mashed potatoes. 2 large chops with a nice gravy and real mashed potatoes. Plenty of food. The owner served us and was friendly and courteous. The fall decor was lovely. We were the only customers but to be fair it was an odd time of day. After tasting the food I can't figure why the parking lot always seems empty. I wonder if people in that area go for a more trendy look. Four stars because I need a follow up visit to judge the consistency. Definitely worth a try. read more

Best local place with a family touch! Here's why.... I have been coming here since it became Parlor House. This spot was many restaurants before that could not succeed. It is clear why Parlor House is here to stay and will keep you coming back! The deck and interior are clean and inviting. The owner is so friendly and greets everyone with a big smile, as if the walked into her own home. Over time, we have tried many things from the menu. But out favorite is the salads! All the salads are generous in portions. They are perfectly dressed, not too much, not too little. I love the Fiesta and the Greek! Occasionally, they have a special which would be the Carribean salad, which is excellent too! We love to pop in for a local dinner that is delicious. We will be back! read more

I don't often write reviews and when I do its because my experience was good. Unfortunately, this time the review is not good. Service was fine, food was terrible and ambience lacking. Dining room is like stepping into someone's basement. Low ceiling and lighting, wood paneling and sticky floor. Food was sorely lacking. Pretzel app was stale. Our entrees tasted frozen, not fresh. French dip was a mystery meat. Place empty on a Saturday night. That should have been our clue to leave. Not sure how this place stays in business. read more

Took my daughter here on a daddy/daughter date and was tremendously disappointed. The place was nice with good ambience but that was the only positive. The man who waited on our table was kind, and meant well, but he was too attentive to the point of being intrusive. The food was where the real failure lied. The fish & chips were simply frozen flounder filets (no cod?!) without much flavor or crispiness and the French fries were also mediocre frozen fries which should've been cooked longer. The 1/2 dozen raw oysters were tiny, quarter-sized, and half of them had sand in them. They were terrible and maybe the worst oysters I ever had. My daughter had the French Prime Dip and the seafood bisque. She barely ate half her meal and she told me that she threw out her leftovers when she got home, which I did too. A total waste of money. I don't get how this place is rated 4.3 stars. Sorry Parlor House, but not sorry, we won't be back again. read more

We had to take care of something in Sayville and when finished, headed for lunch. We like The Shed, but being it was a Monday they were closed. On the way, we passed this spot which had some activity within the outdoor tent. We decided to give it a try and loved it. We headed inside where we had the spacious dining area to ourselves. A husband and wife team run the place with the hubby manning the kitchen as chef and his wife as the server and bartender. Both were exceptional at their jobs and very sociable. It was during Oktoberfest/Halloween time and inside was decorated very nicely. There was a nice bar upon entering well stocked with a nice selection of beers and cocktails including seasonal specials. After having a pumpkin ale with the requisite cinnamon sugar rim, I shared a pumpkin spiced martini. Both were terrific. There was a special Oktoberfest menu in addition to the regular fare. I carefully opted for the sauerbraten as I grew up having my Mom's which is the best ever. It came with a side of potato pancake and I was allowed to substitute mixed veges for the red cabbage as I HATE red cabbage. Well, don't tell Mom, but the meal was as tender and flavorful as hers. When the weather is nice? The dining on the porch and in the tent is very nice. I prefer the nice atmosphere inside though.
