This is a small airport compared to most but on the flip side your in and out in a flash and its easy to find your way here unlike SFO that can be a mad house. Not much bars or restaurants but the starbucks stays open late if you need a snack or coffee. They do have vending machines and cell phone charging stations around. During the day the have more things open like Sees candies and last minute souvenirs. read more

Worst Customer Service Ever. Lets start with 8/10/22; flew out of oakland, ca @2:30 pm landed (i used that word loosely ) in Leon Mexico. Apparently, the Airlines knew that there was a problem with their landing gear before they even left Oakland California however upon attempting to land and dropping the landing gear two tires had blown out and we attempted to make one landing and couldn't do it Pilot lifted up and tried to come back down to three or four times, and we experienced whiplash, due to the plane being able to stop.I suffered whiplash and severe pain my right shoulder/right hand and left wrist/hand. I guess I will have to reach out to a lawyer for documentation and more time, to wasted phone calls and no response. We sat for over 1 1/2 hour on the tarmac. They were trying to decide if they could unload us on the tarmac , we have to wait to be told they're working with maintenance on the airlines to see about getting shuttles and boarding the plane. We got nothing to drink or snack on barely able to go to the bathroom, 5 hour flight. coming home it was worse,. flew during lunch, no sandwiches, only spice noodles and spicey chips, only 1 soda, coke, and coffee. Eventually, they decided to bring out the rollaway ladder, they brought shuttles this is just down the steps on the pilot's appointment and he was sorry for the inconvenience and that was it. The date 082222 I've contacted Volaris multiple times and it has been one response which lasted for about 20/32 the call dropped from Mexico and I'm not heard from anybody else again at upon leaving Leon Mexico on Wednesday the 17th of last week, 8/17/22, we stopped at the counter on our way out to make sure that we could have contact with Management or staff to make sure that they had a copy of my report that I filed the previous Friday. They got all my information and the field supervisor stated that she would have somebody contact me by the end of the day however there was no contact. She also said she would get me a wheelchair and check my luggage, it was charged for. I've called daily, To escalate the response, but still nothing, they have my current info phone/email they've made no efforts to reach me. My phone is in my hand or near me 24/7 . It has been the worse experience in my 40 years flying in customer service, the employee Ernesto Peña and his supervisor have no people skills, they treat customers without respect even yelling to people and ignoring requests and questions. I saw the difference of treatment with Anglo customers and dark (Mexican) people, unfortunately this is the only option (for now) for a direct flight to Morelia from Chicago, I remember Mexicana de Aviacion doing the same thing and look where are they now, even with their bad service, Mexicana at least respected clients. Worst Airline I have ever dealt with. They are muggers, THIEVES and BULLIES. At Guadalajara airport even though I paid the fee in advance to cover extra weight. (I was 10 lbs under the allowed amount). They wouldn't let me on the airplane unless I immediately paid an extra charge of $80 or 1000 pesos because they were golf clubs. When I flew to GDL from Oakland they never said anything and in fact suggested that I check the golf clubs. The GDL counter agent was confrontational and petulant when I argued with them. This is the WORST airline!!! Do NOT fly Volaris. They CANCELED my return flight without any notification! I booked a flight from Oakland to Cancun in July. My fiance needed to renew his passport so he printed his itinerary 2 weeks before our flight was to depart. His mom saw the print-out and called me to ask why we our return flight was 11/25, instead of 11/26 because our hotel was reserved until 11/26. I called Volaris and was told they canceled our flight for unknown reason and had rebooked us on the same flight 1 day prior. Had we not noticed the discrepancy, we would've shown up on the scheduled departure day without a flight to Oakland. Given that it was Thanksgiving weekend, who knows when we would've been able to catch another flight out of Cancun. Volaris customer service is terrible. They gave me NO NOTIFICATION regarding the canceled flight. After spending over an hour on the phone, they offered me a $75 credit to use w/in 1 year with their airline. I wouldn't fly Volaris again if someone paid me! They ruined my vacation and since I prepaid for the resort, I wasn't able to get my money back on for the last night. After this incident, I learned that similar situations have happened to other customers (see tripadvisor reviews). Apparently, Volaris will cancel flights if they will not make a profit on them. Awful company, BUYER BEWARE! .. If you are booking online forget it, the system is awful, numbers disappear to the point you'll have to start, not where you left off but from the beginning. You cannot use Google or Explorer, only Mozilla. If you call their 800 number they'll treat bad. I spoke with Jesus Ramirez, he hung up the phone at me. I called back and spoke with supervisor Saul Vazquez, seemed annoyed I was complaining about his page. When I finally booked I received no online confirmation. I booked with an option of executing my transaction in 72 hours, as I had something pending for work. I called after the 72 hours to let them know I never received anything. They said I didn't have a reservation. Apparently on their site they have the option for the 72 hours but they never explain you need to call back to execute the transaction, even while I provide my AMEX card info. Long story short I lost my booking. Upon trying to book the exact same flight it was already US$ 120.00 more expensive. I will never fly this airline. read more

Man oh man, NEVER AGAIN. Let me start out by saying when you pay for your ticket, you are literally paying for a seat on a plane, you don't even get complimentary water which is crazy to me. The seats are beyond uncomfortable and even I, a 130 pound woman, found it extremely difficult to move around. Also, if you don't speak spanish there's really no point in using this airline as the attendants rarely understand what you're saying and the captain doesn't translate when he is done speaking over the intercom. Not to mention, if you're the only white person going back to America you will get racially profiled and searched. I'm talking looking under your feet even when you have FLIP FLOPS on -_- I had one little backpack on and my boyfriend had nothing on his person, they were letting go many others with up to 5 bags without being searched. I was also double-charged by Volaris. I noticed it immediately and phoned back, but I was travelling in Mexico at the time and it was very difficult to try to dispute the charge. (Spanish is not my native language, and I was also trying to use a phone in the lobby of a small hotel.) At the time I didn't think to dispute the charge through my credit card company, and accepted the offer from Volaris for a credit on their airline to be used within a year. Now that the year is almost up, and I'm looking into the issue again, I see the comments from other people about the double-charges and it seems like this may be an ongoing problem. Here is how TERRIBLE the experience was, from the beginning: 1. Promotions & PURCHASING TICKETS: I received a promotional email that said I could save up to 50% off if I booked between December 23 and December 25, 2014. Stupid me, I thought that was a good deal, so I tried to buy tickets for my whole family (My mom, my mother-in-law, my father-in-law, my wife, myself, and my baby... 6 people total). Of course I tried to buy tickets every day and it DID NOT WORK because your site is full of bugs!!! I think it might even be a cheating web site. When I actually tried again on December 28th, it WORKED but I of course had to may much more money than originally advertised! That's a terrible web site that cheated my money! I can't believe that it didn't work DURING the promotional period! 2. At the airport, we checked in. The line was fantastically long. I thought we were going to be there for hours. However, little did I know that I didn't have to worry too much because... 3. DELAYS: Oh my goodness!! SUPER LATE. First, I got a ton of emails AND a phone call from Volaris to tell me that the hours of the plan had changed, and that I needed to know about it in advance to make sure that I was there on time. But of course, on the day of the actual flight, which was supposed to board a little after 12 midnight (new hours) ended up being VERY late and left after 2am. I'm not sure if you've ever traveled with a baby, but it's the worst thing in the world trying to have them sleep in an airport or on the airplane. You created my personal hell. By the time we landed, our family had been waiting for us for some time. 4. HOURS OF OPERATION: I can't believe that the ONLY flights you have available are at MIDNIGHT. That's the WORST crap I 've ever had to endure. I hate your hours and your airline 5. Our flight back home: We arrived at the airline 3 hours in advance. Of course we were flying Volaris, so that was NOT enough time. The line to check in was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO LONG! People were SO upset, and there were SO many people cutting the line because there were no staff members managing the queue. We were put in a line that didn't move at all, and then after 2 hours, we complained to a staff member, and she moved us to a "priority line". However, the "priority line" was actually 2 different lines combined into one and IT WAS EVEN SLOWER THAN THE ORIGINAL ONE. After waiting in line for 4 HOURS, we were litterally the last ones on the plane, regardless of our complaining to staff members that our plan was leaving and we NEEDED to have priority (we were carrying our baby too). That was so stupid, I thought it was a prank TV show playing a joke on us. TERRIBLE. 6. NO SPACE: Volaris flights are THE MOST UNCOMFORTABLE airplane rides I've ever been on. Even the chair support beams are placed in stupid locations. Of course my legs were SUPER cramped and very uncomfortable, but I couldn't even rest my feet because the chair support was in the way! SUPER RIDICULOUS! 7. Of course the plane going from Guadalajara back to Oakland was late again. Although the pilot announced that we were going to arrive on time, the time on my watch proved that he was lying. We were VERY LATE. Did he think no one was paying attention??? stupid... 8. Food on the plane: Of course, EVERYTHING on the plane needs to be paid for. I asked for FREE tap water, and the flight attendant said NO. I had to pay for it. I had to ARGUE for free water, and she gave me attitude and finally gave me some damn water, even though we'd been waiting in line for HOURS and there were massive delays. I felt like i was being held hostage. During the flight, I told the stewardess that my mom had a medical condition and she absolutely needed to eat because of some medical pills she had taken. Otherwise, she might go into shock. The bitch said "wait, the food will be served soon". We waited AN HOUR for the food to come and by the time it did, she said "WE ARE ALL OUT OF FOOD, ALL WE HAVE ARE NACHO CHIPS". YOU GUYS ALMOST KILLED MY MOTHER. I HATE YOU SO MUCH!!!! I WAS SOOOOOO MAD!!! HOW DARE YOU!!!!!! We HAD to get the f-ing nacho chips and they literately saved my mother's life, but she was so ill because what she really needed was something with more substance like a sandwich. ITEM #1: Extra Charges: I realized I had booked the flight for Friday morning (1 am) instead of Sat morning. I tried to change it via the web and was being charged over $100. I called the 800# within a few minutes to see if any exceptions could be made since I had just booked it and I was told that if the call center made the change they would charge me over $200 for the same change! Irritated, I decided I was better off doing it on-line. Any other airline would've made that change for free. ITEM #2: Baggage fees: Be VERY careful about your baggage because you only get 1 checked bag and they charge you ALOT if you go over their size or weight AND their carry-on/ personal item sizes are NOT standard. They are smaller. I also know that if you try to add baggage at the airport (even a carry on) you get charged a RIDICULOUS amount (like $100+). Item #3: Web Site needs improvement : It took me at least 3-4 tries just to get the change of date to go through. I would get to the bottom if the page, press continue and then I would get an error message and have to start all over. Flights can be cheap through this web site but they nickel and dime you like crazy. I hope they don't charge to use the restroom during the flight! If the difference were $100 or less I would go with another airline that offers more standard packages and much better customer service. UPDATE: After printing my itinerary I noticed a fee for unaccompanied minor. My minor son is NOT traveling unaccompanied and when I called to explain that to the "customer service" representative she told me they do not issue any refunds and that those arrangements would have needed to be made in advance of booking a ticket. How would I know that if the charge was not shown when I booked?! It showed up afterwards. Their lack of customer service is appalling! I will NEVER travel through Volaris again. read more

A friend of mine flew back to Mexico to attend his grandfather's funeral. At the time it seems like a reasonable airfare. His flight to Mexico was an absolute disaster as a result of Volaris Airlines inadequate method of servicing their customers. What I found interesting for the prices Volaris charges for their Air fair you would think they would have a tracking System in effect so that a person picking up their loved ones from the airport would not encounter a delay. Well, after reading some of these reviews, I'd say my experience pales in comparison. However, my issue is more with the actual aircraft - and other travelers in general. I know the staff can't control the behavior of other travelers, but perhaps they could do a better job of monitoring what they actually say -" please let each row leave one at a time" - don't clog the aisle as soon as we taxi! It's a business, I get it, but Volaris' business plan is to pack as many people on a flight as possible. The ticket price was great - flew with my wife and daughter - but the LACK of space between seats was TERRIBLE!! The person in front of me (of course) had her seat reclined. I dropped a napkin and tried to stoop down to pick it up and hit my face on the person's seat in front of me. Kind of funny, right? I can admit it. But when you can't move your knees in front of you without hitting the seat, that's not enough room --- as the teenager behind me found, having bumped my seat at least a dozen times in the course of 4 hours. And though it's still not as much (in cost) as other flights, the fact you have to pay for even a beverage is crazy to me. I know they're not the only ones doing it, but it's just ridiculous. Plus, they have "bundles" you can use, like a muffin and tea, and it saves you a bit --- but as luck would have it, the flight attendant happened to NOT catch it/understand us when we asked - then charged me separately for each item -- so there went the bundle "savings"! And I noticed they did it with the people behind us too. And it wasn't a language thing either - both my wife and the lady behind us spoke Spanish the them. I'm usually fairly patient but this was one of those cases of "you have ONE job - can you just get THAT right?!" When I booked my tix online I chose my seats, but if I missed the fact we were in the exit row (with a small child), is it too much to ask the website OR the ticket agent at check-in to notice that and then change our seats, as opposed to having to move us from row 12 to row 24 ON the flight, while my 3 year old is asleep? Overall, I thought the staff was decent, the prices were good (for the flights), and they were on time - but the lack of comfort and customer service made for a negative experience. Volaris gave my parents an $80 credit with their airline for not delivering their (3) suitcases and a walker. For what???? My parents and no one I know will ever fly Volaris again!!!! Overall GREAT discount airline. They give huge discounts if you just keep an eye out. I've never flown out of OAK so I wonder if all the bad reviews have to do with those routes. I recently flew from SJC-GDL (1 night), GDL-TLC (1 night), TLC-CUN (3 nights), CUN-MEX (3 nights) and MEX-GDL-SJC for under $450 for all flights. They originally changed my out going flight from SJC to TLC, because of that they allowed me to stay in GDL for a night. The planes are clean, people are friendly and all were on time. Never had a problem with my luggage but I do find it disturbing that they warn you not to carry valuables in your check in luggage as they might go missing. I guess it's not so much Volaris as it is the airport staff at your destination. Best of all they have free beer, rum, tequila and vodka! Helps with the long flights. The first time I flew with them it was SJC-GDL and the computer system went down. They were writing everyone hand written tickets that were being confirmed over the phone. The system eventually started working but we ended up being 2 or 3 hours late. At the time they had an on time guarantee for all fares but unfortunately I never took advantage of it. My only real complaint is the the flight attendants tend to gather at the front of the plane behind a curtain. It makes it seem like they want to be as far away from the customers as possible. My friend even caught one having lunch once. I just booked another trip from OAK-MEX for Fiestas Patrias. Update to come. read more

Just completed my first Volaris trip - out of TJ to Puerto Vallarta. The cost was great - under $200 RT with taxes. I've heard you can find it cheaper as well. We will return. The planes are all new and clean. The staff/flight attendants are very professional and attentive. They serve free beverages, including beer, wine and liquor - plus some snacks - no meals. The weight limit on our fare, was somewhat limiting, but enough for our 8 day staff (33 pounds check-in and 20 pounds carry-on) - no one ever weighed my carry-on or our friend's. Our check-in luggage was weighed, but it seems like no one paid any attention. You do have to pay extra for a seat assignment when you book or you can wait and choose your seats on web-check-in which is 72 hours before your flight. Overall, no complaints. VOLARIS These comments address two issues, Volaris as an airline, especially the TIJ CBX crossing and traveling with a cat. While I have read comments about how fast and convenient the CBX crossing is, that was not the case traveling New Years day. When arriving at the CBX crossing we were shuffled into a holding tent of about 200 people checking their luggage. It took over an hour to make it to the check-in counter which had only 3 attendants checking in scores of passengers. In hindsight we probably should have bypassed this 'temporary' check- in process and gone directly to the Volaris regular counter where there were 3 attendants checking in much fewer people. An even better solution would probably have been to walk across the Otay Mesa border as we have in the past and taken a 10 minute taxi ride to TIJ thus bypassing all the CBX hassle. Our second issue was our cat. We were very careful to make sure all compliance procedures were met including medical documents. We even have emotional support certification and spoke to a Volaris representative to confirm that we could bring our cat aboard. Unfortunately, after checking our luggage and receiving our boarding passes the attendant noticed the carrier was not a hard case. She immediately removed the tags from our luggage and advised us that the cat would not be allowed to board. Our plea that there representative said an emotional support animal was an exception to the rule fell on deaf ears. We were in a panic. Since this was my family reunion in Cabo we decided that my wife and cat would stay behind and I would continue. We were at the counter switching out what would go with me and what would stay with my wife, who by now was in tears, when a supervisor appeared and signed something that allowed us to board. We attempted to buy a small hard side carrier in Cabo, but to no avail. Armed with our exemption documentation we spent some tense moments checking into our return flight but all went well, except the check-in attendant at one point did appear as we waited in the boarding area and took pictures of the cat. We did not relax until we were aboard the aircraft and our cat was safely beneath our seat. Unfortunately the saga does not end here. We were told on the return flight that we had not paid our luggage fee and consequently we were charged $120 for 2 bags. When we got home we checked our records and found that we had indeed paid $30 for our 2 bags. Would I recommend Volaris airlines to a friend? I would not recommend Volaris airlines to my worst enemy. Hopefully, someday we will see the $120 they still owe us. read more

It is what it is folks, as long as you fly when you are suppose to and can predict the future......no problem. I bought tickets for my parents to fly from OAK to GDL, but then my dad became pretty sick. Long story short- changes are expensive and upgrades.....FORGET IT, triple the cost. Without reading reviews I decided to give this airline a chance, after making reservations from Oakland to Mexico City to Cancun I heard from numerous friends that this airline is a rip off even though they have "lower fees". First of all our layover in Mexico City from Oakland to Cancun was 6 hours!. My complaint is the fact that from Oakland to Mexico my dads carry on was exactly that, a carry on. No hassle there. Coming back to the US from Mexico is when first of all we got at the Cancun airport at 8am, our flight was at 11 Am. I'm not one who likes to rush. We wait in line for 20 minutes to check in our 1 luggage and then since our flight is at 11am they put us back in the back of the line to serve people who's flight might be missed because they got there late! It doesn't make sense to punish us and make us wait in line again just because other people didn't get to the airport on Time to give themselves enough time to check in and go through security. I was angry about that because I have a child. when we finally get to the counter she points out that my dads carry on is too big. I explained to her that from US to Mexico we didn't have any problems with it being a carry on. After 20 minutes of arguing I told her we'll measure it when we get home and we'll show everybody how messed up this is! I messaged them on Instagram and Facebook. I've called the phone listed on their website, there's no direct email to prove to them that this carry on is a carry on based on their measurements on THEIR WEBSITE! I demand a refund of $50 which this airline made me pay for what is obviously a CARRY ON! I have the receipts and everything to prove it. This airline may be cheap but you get wha you pay for! they make you pay for seats instead of assigning you them together as a family. They put my daughter on another row and made me pay for her to sit next to me even though that Seat was available! DONT FLY WITH THIS AIRLINE. Pay the extra money and fly with Delta or other known airlines. Not good customer service at all. This is the only way I feel like I can try to get through to them. I found very good deal (Oak-Cancun). So immediately booked. After that I checked reviews and I got scared. I was really worried about my vacation trip. My experience is opposite to all negative reviews. I found staff in Oakland airport is extremely helpful. I will rate them all 5 stars. There are baggage restrictions but it is clearly mentioned on website, confirmation email. They do charge too much for extra luggage. I guess this is their business model. Server in flight was good, except all instruction in flight and on airport are in Spanish and I have to ask them to translate for me in English. As many others mentioned, customer service over phone/email, refund policies are very poor. read more

I made an error when reserving my airline tickets, and checked 3 bags. What I really wanted was 2 checked bags there and only 1 to return. I called customer service. English was so broken it was terribly difficult to understand. Representative told me she could not fix it so I asked to speak with a manager. Carlos, supposed manager, told me that he was not allowed to fix my error and I had to pay again. WOW! After spending more than $3000 US dollars on one flight and they cant fix a $40 error, I will make sure we NEVER use Volaris again. Many hidden tricks so that airfare increases! This is a money hungry, ripping off customers company. Stay away!! TRUST ME: It is better to pay more at another airline than to deal with such incompetent people at Volaris. read more

SHOUT OUT TO SANTOS! okay, so I am yet to fly out from TJ-GA ( in 24 hours). and I called in to check up on the time, date, and what not with my family. (I bought 5 in total)I bought tickets for myself, my daughter, my mother, Nina, and friend. (all females) I bought round trip tickets for the same flight!! so back to the story. I called in for a check up to make sure nothing has changed and a female informed me that all of us would be in the same flight going to GA but not coming back. It would just be me. I asked her MULTIPLE times to recheck her system because there was no way in HELL that i did not purchase my daughter, mother, Nina and friend round trip tickets. I informed her several times that my daughter was UNDERAGED (she's 2!) She "checked her system," and stated that there was not a round trip for the other 4. At that point I asked to speak to the manager. The manager basically told me the same thing, and I stated that I would NOT pay for what I already paid for and I will not allow for them to separate me from my mother, daughter, Nina and my friend. At that point I did emphasize that it was ILLEGAL to separate a mother from her child ESPECIALLY when they are underaged, and if they did not fix this a HUGEEEE lawsuit would be headed there way. So they supposably couldn't do anything on there end without having to pay me extra for changes, but they would provide me protection plans number so they could assist me since they had access at that point. (888)515-2153. Santos answered the call and I explained to him exactly what had occurred (I was rude at this point since I was pissed). He did an EXCELLENT job reviewing my case and informing me that they were wrong and that everything was good to go. that we would all go to TJ-GA and BACK TOGETHER! no extra charges, nothing. At this point I apologized a thousand times to him and I did inform him that I appreciated his help. He did an amazing job dealing with an escalated cl (me). Absolutely the worst service ever!!!! I got a ticket back in March for my son and I, round trip from Mexico to Oakland and back. As the departure date was approaching my son became very ill, needed a surgery on the exact day we were to leave and needed recovery time. It was clear that we were unable to fly so I contacted Volaris phone line in June where I was told since it was a medical emergency to why I needed to cancel the flight I would be able to get a full refund if I was able to get a letter from the doctors office explaining that we were unable to fly because of my sons surgery coming up, no more information was required. I contacted the medical office, received the letter which I then emailed to aclaraciones@volaris.com and I did not hear back from the airline at all. The departure day came and I noticed there were no changes to the account made which was used to purchase the ticket and called the airline number once again and was told nothing could be done and I needed to wait longer, that if I was to get a refund it would be only for the flight back from Guadalajara, MX. I told the lady who I was on the phone with that how could that be possible for I had done my part in sending the email that was asked of me and that I wanted to talk to her supervisor. After a while of going back and fourth with her she finally gave me a different email to which I could file my previous email and expect a response from someone in their team regarding the refund. I emailed yourexperience@volaris.com explaining what happened and I sent screenshots of my previous email to them only to receive a message telling me " we need you to send us a letter from your doctor in a description, not in a recipe" and asked for the following..... -Doctor´s name -Doctor´s medical license number -Doctor´s signature -Hospital/Clinic electronic seal or stamp (Letterhead) -A brief explanation about the passenger´s medical condition -Procedure, treatment or recovery time (Must cover flight dates) The email also included "The document has to be scanned and sent in PDF, please send us the information within the next 48 hours to proceed. It is important to say that our tickets are not refundable, we can help you with another assistance, if the other customers are directly family members like brothers, parents, children or spouse, you can send an official certificate to prove it, and they can receive a compensation." I understand needing to verify certain information, but to ask for a childs' medical procedure needed and medical condition seems a little to far and personal to ask for. To also go and ask for a certificate to prove the relationship between my child and I was a little offensive and unnecessary since the child, MY CHILD was flying with me UNDER MY CARE AND SUPERVISION and he did not purchase the ticket. I have flown with Volaris since I was a child, spoke very highly of their services and had never had a complaint about them until today. I am very, very disappointed with their customer service, the length it takes for them to reply and the way they deal with personal matters which are clearly out of ones control. I can say is that they need to work on their customer service approach and need to address and change the way they handle their customers needs. I prefer flying with Volaris than any other airline because they make flying easy. Checking in is always great and they never charge any extra fees if my bag is slightly over the weight limit. I have flown with other airlines who blatantly told me to make my bags lighter or pay for it. The fees were insane too! I travel to Mexico at least two times a year and I always do it with this airline. Volaris might not have the most luxurious airplanes but the prices are by far the best you'll find. Ever since my first flight with Volaris, I have flown with them since and have encouraged friends and family to fly with them too. They're worth it! read more

NO. Not THAT easy....we are currently living the hell that Volaris puts you through with their cbx Tijuana flights! First of all, I am traveling with my 3yr old and 6 yr old from TJ to Cancun and booked my DIRECT flights for the thanksgiving holiday since FEBRUARY. Two days before I though I was departing I saw that my dates with my hotel stay and flight schedule were not matching up...so I called the airline and they said they had to change it because the flight was either cancelled/ technical difficulties/ or what not. I asked them why they hadn't sent me an email verification/notice when this was switched and the rep on the phone said "we usually do, I don't know what happened" so I asked what date they would have sent such an email and he didn't have one for me to verify. The rep proceeded to tell me that unfortunately all of the direct flights were booked and the ONLY ones they had available were ones with 6 HOURS layovers to and from. Since I had no choice I took it with a compensation of 1000 pesos per passenger for a future flight within 6 months with volaris. The layover was brutal with my little boys and they ended up getting sick because of the over night layover so their fun vacation was ruined and constrained to sleeping and medicine in the hotel room for 3 days. We mentally prepared ourselves for the brutal way back...and we waited it out at the airport in Mexico City from 25th to the 26th and 5 am when we were supposed to board our flight back to TJ....at 5 am volaris announced that the flight was cancelled due to weather without further notice. They cancelled 2 more TJ flights after that and there were riots and very angry customers....they weren't worried about solving the problem whatsoever. Since I was traveling with my kids I chose to hide out in the Grant Elite in Mexico City which was a saving grace. My husband was able to get a flight that wouldn't leave Mexico City until 1:53pm and NOT to TJ but to puerto Vallarta where we are supposed to get a connect to TJ but not until ANOTHER 4 hour layover. We just landed in puerto Vallarta and asked the rep if we were going to be able to take off or not for TJ with the weather, and her response was "it looks like everything is on time and weather seems good, but if anything changes we will let you know" so now the dilemma is if we wait 4 hrs to find out we CANT get to TJ another night when we could (out of our own pocket because volaris won't compensate ANYTHING) get a hotel for our babies to finally get some good rest after 24hr airport hell! I'm so disappointed and WILL NEVER FLY VOLARIS again. Save yourself the disappointment and pay the extra money to fly internationally and preferably NOT with volaris. Oh and beware of the CBX TJ trap as well because they made us fork out $300 just to ENTER into Mexico, but when we argued we were only vacationing a week the airport immigration man said that since we were "already in line we had to pay now"....then after a rush of people started coming he went to the immigration desk and started stamping passports--no longer making people stand in a side line to pay. #dontflyvolaris #volarisnightmare #volariscrap read more

I had yo pay twice to have my suitcase checked in, their site is a joke, my seats were never confirmed but by far the worst is their personnel, they are unprepared, unprofessional, rude, unqualified for any exchange with normal human beings.
