While my niece was in town, I wanted to take her out for sushi so we headed to Volcano Sushi Bar. I'd been once before and enjoyed it so I figured she'd enjoy it as well. The restaurant is pretty small but thankfully we were able to dine in and be seated as soon as we arrived. The waiter came over right away to take our drink order. I asked what alcoholic drinks they had like wine, sake, etc. and he mentioned they weren't serving alcohol drinks at the moment. The last time I came, I had a glass of wine so I found that to be strange but I figured maybe they had an issue going on that prevented them from selling alcohol. My niece mentioned she enjoyed shumai soup, shumai is a steamed shrimp pot sticker, but unfortunately they didn't have the soup so we just ordered Shumai and it was pretty good. We then tried the Kanisu Roll and it was very light and flavorful. The Spicy Tuna Roll, Dragon Roll and Fire Dragon Roll were all very fresh and delicious, my favorite was the Dragon Roll. As we were finishing our food, I noticed one of the waiters holding a glass of wine which I thought was interesting, seeing as though I was told that they weren't serving alcohol, so that bummed me out because I was really looking forward to having a glass of wine with my meal. Mmmmm I cannot get enough of this place! Never too busy so service is quick. Ingredients are fresh. My fav rolls are: Rainbow roll, dragon roll, dream roll, lover roll, superman, Godzilla...I mean you can't go wrong! You can also order teriyaki from the kitchen (chicken, pork, steak). Great food and quick service. I was worried because they seemed to close down after Covid but they are back.

My husband went on Valentines Day which I took into consideration. We did go early but we were not the only ones with that thought process. It's small inside with about 8 booths and a few tables. There is plenty of parking since it's in a shopping center. We were sat immediately. There was only 1 waitress and she was hustling!! Fortunately there were 2 sushi chefs so our food came out very fast. My husband ordered a Miller Light but got a Kirin Light. I can see how that could happen especially since she was wearing a mask. We each got the bento box which is a great deal. I got 3 different rolls - 80 degree, rainbow and Volcano. It also came with miso soup and a salad and rice. I did not touch the rice cause I surely would have had food coma. The miso soup was okay. Tasted different then what I have had in the past at other restaurants and wasn't super hot. I liked the salad and dressing. The rolls were very fresh and so good. The avocado was perfect. I didn't love the Volcano but that was my mistake. I wasn't prepared to order 3 so I had to choose quickly and fried rolls are not my favorite. I liked it but didn't love the whole thing but would give it another try as it was Valentines Day. My husband didn't love his but I don't trust his opinion. While we love Volcano Sushi, we have never ordered through Yelp before. The Boston roll ingredients are different than the paper menu. The Yelp menu does not list crab as an ingredient while the paper menu does. My husband has a gluten allergy and ate 4.5 pieces of imitation crab(wheat) before realizing it. His allergies were off the chart this evening and I'm just hoping the benadryl helps. read more

I received a text message saying my order is ready to picked up at 7:05 at the address of volcano on gen booth blvd . I go into the store and tell them I am here to pick up my order and show them the text message saying that. The workers start too look on the tablet and told me "they don't have my order" . I said "what do you mean you don't have my order". The lady was very very disrespectful to me and her workers she said door dash picked it up already someone must've had the same name as you . I was like I highly doubt someone has the same name as me you guys were just not doing your job !!!!!! Gave my order to probably some random . I told them multiple times that this isn't my problem so either give me my money back or make me my food I paid for i mean am i crazy?????? We came in for a late staff lunch after trying to head to Sakura, which closed at 2pm. I'm certainly glad they did because this place was delicious! I was initially a little sad that they didn't offer AYCE sushi, but they do have "happy hour specials" including discounted rolls and appetizers. They offer lunch bento boxes which allow you to choose 2 unique items from a lengthy list of rolls and entrees and pair it with miso soup, salad with ginger dressing and white rice. It's quite a lot to eat for $8. All of our choices - rolls, yaki soba, shumai - and the accompanying items were fresh and delicious. I would frequent this place over AYCE so that says something. I've heard rumors this place had good sushi so I decided to give it a try. The server was very prompt and pleasant. She took my order and shortly after I had a beautifully presented "Lunch Box". I ordered the seaweed salad separately, which was slightly spicy but very fresh, Spicy salmon roll, Hawaii roll, and the lunch box came with Miso soup, white rice, and salad with a delicious ginger dressing. This place is super cute I was originally worried it would be a terrible knock off of the Volcano in Norfolk I went to a different Volcano- one on theblvd and it was just terrible! This one was quiet The food was awesome (especially the gyoza) And the staff were awesome. I dont really like sushi, so I only get kitchen entrees. The gyoza was crispy and juicy! Good place for a date night. All of the rolls we ordered were good, as was the fried ice cream. The only downside was having such a large menu but without pictures. When it comes to sushi I have no problem openly admitting to being an amateur. The menu here made it simple for me w/ symbols on the menu indicating what would be cooked, and what was raw. It really pains me to give 1 star out to any establishment but I have to say this was one of my worst dining experiences ever. We walked through the door for dinner and I knew I was in trouble. The decor gave me a headache. Bright colors & pictures all over the walls with reds, oranges, greens, & purple. They tried to be all mod, but something went terribly wrong. The menu was hard to read, with too many items just thrown all over the place. The menu had the same theme, black, red, and other colors which made my eyes hurt. The worst thing about this place was the sushi. The rice was totally wrong. The wrong consistency, and not enough of it around the rolls. Anyone who eats sushi a lot knows that sushi rice is really an art. An experienced sushi chef knows that he has to have exactly the right ingredients and right amount mixed together to form good sushi rice. Volcano's rice was good or bad...it was pretty terrible. Anytime I go to a new sushi place, I order a California roll. That's how I measure the place. It's a simple standard roll that is hard to screw up. However, my CA roll at Volcano was so bad that I didn't even want to eat it. If you are not picky about your sushi and don't care about the quality then it might not be so bad for you. If you do then I would recommend avoiding this place. Kyushu is my personal fave, but there are plenty of places in town that are better. read more
