Seems like a regional chain but damn were they good. Swing by before a series of wine tours in Woodinville to make sure we had padded stomachs before drinking and Vons did not disappoint. They have a parking lot but it was very full - wouldn't be surprised if there's a wait during peak hours. They also have a paid valet if you don't want to deal with parking. Inside is tight and busy but a good operation. Staff was phenomenal and got us situated despite it being a full house. The food is an absolute 10/10 ordered a salad and pizza to share and the portion sizes are very large. They're not afraid to use punchy flavors (garlic) but it balances so well with their in-house made breads. Overall a really memorable eating experience. Wow, I forgot how good Von's 1,000 spirits is. Stopped here on my last trip in Seattle after wine tasting in Woodinville. When you arrive you'll park in the lot out front and then check in with the host to be seated. One of the biggest surprises is they make their own sourdough pasta which we had to try. My partner ordered the northwest king salmon pasta (San Juan Island mushrooms, arugula, Sicilian spice, lemon, true asiago cream). We also order a couple happy hour items including the original Mac & 4 cheeses (Pike Place Market Beecher's Flagship, reggiano, Grande whole milk mozzarella, Farmstead fontina) and the og butter burger (Two prime chop patties, razor-thin bourbon butter onions, mustard, melted American, smothered in Umami Maître d' butter). Lastly I ordered the huckleberry bramble (Housemade huckleberry Crème de Mure, Savor Spear Gin, fresh lemon). All of the food was excellent and tasted extremely fresh. So get this. It was finally a nice day on the weekend so everyone's eating out. We show up here bc we have had this place before in another location. This place has plenty of tables open. The guy in front of me asked for a table. She turned him away and gave him a coupon to come back (remember this part of the story, it's key) I step up, the lady asks if I have a reservation. I say no. She's says they aren't taking waitlist/walkups bc it's their "opening week" and they are only taking reservations. And it may be for a couple weeks. Now, remember the guy in front of me I said got turned away? While we were standing outside for a few min (trying to understand why they would turn away money with a bunch of open tables inside and outside) the lady from the front who was turning away people sat someone at one of the open tables outside. Not 7 sec later, the guy who was in front of me walked over and sat at that table. The guy she sat was his friend (meaning he def didn't have reservations either, but he got seated.) A bit surprised that I haven't given this place 5 stars yet as this is easily one of the spots I visit the most on the East side. The vibes are great as they have a fun wheel to spin for drink specials and even without the specials the martini and manhatten are some of the best priced drinks around. They have a great happy hour as well and they also have a very nice and spacious patio. It is a very popular place so perhaps the opening of the Kirkland location will help make it less busy but because of how busy it is, it does get very loud on the inside. The service is great as they truly love what they do and the complementary valet is also nice. As far as food goes you really can't go wrong. I've tried several things on the menu and whether it is small bites, sandwiches, pizza, or pasta, it is all delicious. One of my personal favorites are the pork confit fries so if you go I recommend trying those but again, it will all be good. On our most recent visit we tried their hot bird pizza and fish and chips. Only thing was I could've used more lemon and tartar sauce for the fish because of how big it was but I'd rather get a bigger portion like that and two mains was plenty big for us to split and have a couple leftover slices of pizza. If you are in the city, visiting one of their locations is definitely a good idea! read more

My husband and I have been frequent diners here but I haven't updated my review since our first visit. The service is always top notch. The food is always delicious! The vibe is always fun and lively. Our favorites include any of the burgers. My personal favorite is the Serrano Smash burger (sub veggie patty) which has a ton of spice but also a ton of flavor from the aioli and cheese. Their Ceasar salad is a perfect accompaniment as it give a creamy, cool side dish to balance the heat. Their cocktails are great. Beer list is short but solid with good variety of local brews. I tried the Gaucho, a fire-griddled skirt steak with chimichurri, Von's pickled peppers, avocado and mayo on a toasted baguette. It was a new flavor combination for me and absolutely outstanding. What made the experience memorable came down to three things: First, great company always elevates a meal. Second, the food and ambiance, there's a vibrant, positive energy here that makes you want to linger. And third, Kim, our server. If my wife was with my I'd get the burrata pizza. Bacon Mac was solid, spiced mule was delicious. My son got a strawberry lemonade and a lil pep ( no hiney drizzle or peppers). I got the Lemon prawns and a chicken Caesar. My son loved the lemonade and the lil pep was OK to him. We dropped by Von's for a weekday linner after hiking for the entire morning and early afternoon. We were a bit lucky, or unlucky depending on how people see things, that we got in right after Happy Hour started. Apparently they run a special where everything before 2PM on weekdays is 25% off. Happy Hour from 2-6PM has a smaller selection of discounted items, some of which are more than 25% off menu price, some less. When we first pulled into the lot, the front parking lot was full. Von's offers free valet parking, but I thought it was a bit strange since the valet lot was basically empty. Why not offer normal customer parking during slower periods? We unfortunately didn't know about the parking situation and didn't have any cash on us for tips, so we turned around and parked on the gravel on the side of the street. Pork Confit Fries ($15.50) - I wasn't quite expecting the dish that came out. Instead of a plate of fries with topping, this is essentially a small tower. The base consists of fresh cut fries. They have a greasy sheen on the exteriors and unfortunately aren't crisp at all. Instead, they are relatively tender and floppy throughout, with only a bit of a tougher skin on the exterior. They are sprinkled with seasoning salt - enough to add flavor, but not enough to become overly salty. The fries are then topped with a four cheese sauce, which is pretty flavorful with fatty and umami notes with some sweetness, but the texture is a little off-putting with how grainy and gritty it is. There's a small amount pork confit included on top. It's actually quite good - definitely on the drier side given the confit preparation, but very flavorful with a nice porkiness and sweetness. The dryness is actually a positive in this instance and it almost me of eating meat floss. Finally, some peppers are strewn about on top, adding a tangy note to suppress some of the fatty qualities below. Per the menu they are hot pickled peppers, but I could not detect any heat. (3/5) OG Butter Burger ($15) - This is... certainly a burger. It's served with a choice of either pink or no pink, of which I went with the latter (I've had "pink" experiences in the past where the center was still raw, so I went with the safer option). I was delighted to see that the center of both patties still had a decent streak of pink through them. Could this mean a juicy burger? Unfortunately not. I feel like the fat/lean ratio is actually less than 90/10 given how lean and dry the meat is, even when pink. Perhaps they just grind a bunch of prime beef without adding additional fat? I'd probably be okay with one patty like this, but adding a second is a bit much for me. They place a large mound of thinly sliced caramelized onions in between the two patties. The onions aren't really sweet, instead giving a strange bitterness. They're kind of slippery as well, which causes the sandwich innards to slide around. American cheese is melted on top, then a smear of yellow mustard. The burger as a whole is extremely oily and greasy thanks to the hotel butter smothering the entire dish. It's so rich and decadent, but unfortunately that fat and moisture doesn't spread to the inside of the patties. (4/5) Nonna Maria Pizza ($15) - I love how they cut the pizzas here - the pizzas are oval in shape and they cut diagonally crisscross so that the slices look like normal trianglular pizza slices. I also love the grate they serve the pizza on. It prevents the crust underneath from getting soggy. Let's start with the base here - the sourdough crust. It's actually really good. The cornicione is dense compared to a neopolitan-style, but it gives a pleasing chew and toothsome quality, not to mention a superb developed flavor. It's fired in a hot oven until some blistered and charred spots develop. The interior crust area is on the thicker end but still flops down like a NY-style slice. They cover the dough with an extremely thick layer of cheese. I'd say the cheese layer is thicker than the dough, even with the dough being extra thick. It makes the pizza really rich. On top, they dollop tomato sauce around. It's a sauce that's definitely been cooked down for a while. It's zesty, sweet, and herbal and earthy, not like a fresher tomato sauce with bright zingy notes. Spread with the sauce are pieces of burrata, adding even more richness and creaminess, some fresh basil, and finally a generous sprinkling of Italian seasoning. (4/5) I was looking for fat and grease after a long hike, so Von's definitely hit the spot. I'd come back for lunch again to try out some of their other specialties. I was not expecting the restaurant to be completely full on a weekday afternoon with valet parking , but no problem, we were immediately sat in the bar and complimentary valet parking is quick and efficient. The pastas and pizzas are very popular here, but thankfully they do offer delicious salads and sandwiches wrapped in lettuce rather than buns upon request. The portions are generous, the food is delicious, and the servers are helpful and friendly. I absolutely love the spinning wheel for hourly drink specials. Our favorite restaurant to eat with the kids. I'm only posting a review so I can include photos of the kids menu for other parents of crazy-picky kids. They also give you these cute little foam airplanes (which I'm assuming is to take to go, I've never seen a kid try to fly one indoors). Kids love it the pizza, cow-shaped grilled cheese, and buttered noodles. Parents love the salads (if we are being good), pasta dishes and pizzas. A friend said he got the best patty melt he's ever had. Husband is a whiskey guy and loooves the whiskey options (the smoked one is his favorite). My favorite drink on the planet is the Huckleberry Bramble. Because the restaurant closes their patio I forgot the name of the GM but his customer service is top notch. One time our table was forgotten about (total fluke, I think the server was having some personal trouble) and he made sure that we got a free appetizer to apologize. I can never get a table because they're always booked up, so now I book the soonest res I can get on a Saturday night (most recently it was five weeks out, that's how awesome this place is) and now we just plan our day around the res. Valet parking is awesome too, just remember to bring a few bucks to tip the valet dudes. read more

We were visiting the area, and the couple we were meeting recommended this restaurant. We ordered the pasta bolognese and the shrimp lemon pasta, and both dishes were fabulous. They make their pasta in-house using sourdough, which gives it a firmer texture. My husband, who is of Italian descent, loves pasta bolognese and often judges a restaurant by the quality of its sauce. He was thoroughly impressed. I loved my shrimp lemon pasta as well. I'm even eating the leftovers cold the next day, and it's still delicious. We also shared the calamari. It wasn't my personal favorite, but my husband enjoyed it. The couple who recommended Von's ordered the burger and the sourdough fish and chips, and they were both very happy with their meals. I think the only downside, is restaurant is very loud and so if you are hearing impaired it can be a challenge.
