I really like the produce section at this Vons. The fruits and vegetables are consistently fresh, and there is always a good variety to choose from. The main area that needs improvement is customer service. On a recent Saturday night, I stopped by to buy a few bananas. The cashier, who was wearing a beanie, was helping a customer with a disability, which I appreciated. When it was my turn, the transaction was completed, and I thanked the cashier and wished them a good evening. However, I received no acknowledgment in return. Instead, the cashier immediately turned to the next customer and asked if they needed a bag. While this may seem like a small interaction, customers should feel acknowledged and valued regardless of the size of their purchase. A simple response such as "thank you" or "have a good night" can make a big difference in the overall shopping experience. I enjoy shopping here for the quality produce, but experiences like this make me consider going to Stater Bros, Aldi or Ralphs. instead. This grocery chain has lots of the organic products that we shop for. They also have a great members program with digital coupons that you'll see on the price tags in the aisles that you just need to scan with the app. There's also the bi-weekly free item that they email you to click and clip into the app. You then just scan the wallet feature in the app when you pay. This Vons here on Harbor and Adams has to have the worst tasting fried chicken that you'd ever taste from the hot deli. The crust absolutely tastes like old burnt oil. They may not have changed that oil in a very very long time. It's horrible. No flavor at all. What a waste of money. Albertsons never miss. But this Vons missed the mark by a long shot. I shop at many different grocery stores. Vons has recently raised their prices ridiculously high and compared to other stores there is no one else priced higher than Vons. If you shop there with any frequency you already know what I am telling you. It looks like corporate greed has made them try to gouge customers. I recommend boycotting these stores due to their excessive pricing. Additionally, their pricing with digital coupons is often problematic and even when you scan in the discount they are either a problem or do not even recognize the discount. I was there today and I had five items that needed a manager to resolve pricing issues to get them for the advertised price. In my opinion, this is deceptive and misrepresentative advertising as the price should be what it is advertised as and you shouldn't have to wait another 5 or 10 minutes to get the price. I don't have this problem at any grocery stores that I shop at with the consistency that Vons does. And their corporate Department is oblivious to reality and I have spoke with numerous managers at various branches and they agreed with my assessment. I hope a class action suit and sanctions will be brought against them for their management and behavior practices. It is obvious to me that Vons and or their parent company are excessively greedy and they need to be put in check. And if this pattern of behavior continues, they need to face Financial consequences for doing so. I came here yesterday to pickup things for a friends baby shower. I grabbed some fruit and waters. This Vons is pretty organized. It's easy to find things. We looked at the fruit trays and party trays. The watermelon didn't look fresh, so I didn't get any of that. I grabbed grapes, strawberries and blueberries. They were perfect for the baby shower. I also got a case of waters. Also important for the baby shower. It was super hot! Almost 100 degrees and the baby shower was outside in a barn. TL;DR - ZERO stock status consistently on staple grocery items. Go to another location like HB. I've debated writing this review for a long time. Due to the current pandemic, I try to be as objective as possible, and give benefit of the doubt whenever I can. Unfortunately, after months and months of the same occurrence, I felt the need to bring this to light. This Vons location is one of the WORST stocked locations I've been to in Orange County. They seem to run out of many staple items regularly, and can't get their ordering / inventory to an acceptable level. The manager seriously needs to consider the stock status of items when placing vendor orders, because at this point, it's unacceptable. Sadly because this is the closest to my house, it's one I frequent often. Every single trip, they are out of major items. I attached a picture of the Pepsi section tonight for your reference. This is a staple that every grocery store should have decent supply of. As a Pepsi enthusiast, I have shopped at this Von's more than a few times, each trip to my dismay that their stock is never there. I love using the Vons app, but unfortunately, most of the items ring up incorrectly. Every visit I have to check my receipt and get refunded for 5 to 10 items that did not ring up correctly. Should not be a big deal, but it always upsets whoever is at the front and they always give me a bad attitude about it. Today it was Maria who told me I didn't know how to do math, but it turned out, I was correct and she had to give me a second refund after she double checked her math. Don't know how this place is so low on reviews. I have been coming here for over an hour and everyone there is extremely friendly and helpful. Yes the lines get long, but if you have more than 10 items it's probably best to not go to self check out since you're going to need help on a few of them. Just be thoughtful and plan ahead, don't go to a store the day of the Super Bowl or Christmas Eve unless you're willing to wait in long lines... just my two cents! read more

I enjoy the discounted prices on some items but man you gotta jump through all kinds of hoops to get the deals. And then after doing all that it still comes out wrong. Maria however took the time and explained in detail on every item I bought and she made sure everything was correctly priced. These days the price of groceries are insane so yes I come in to get these discounted prices. I know I'm a pain in the ass but they seem to think that it's OK. I've been shopping here since it was Albertson's in the late 80's when I attended OCC, But it's now really nicely appointed and very clean Vons and fairly well stocked if you shop early. I usually shop here on Sunday mornings after church right before I meet with friends to play tennis at OCC. Their prices overall are higher than Stater Brothers a mile away, But it's a totally better experience IMO. I take advantage of as many specials as I can with my ValuCard, and that helps. They put a lot of their specials right at the entrance. I like their fresh bread section and desserts like cake slice or whole cakes. They have a Panda Express inside with some places to sit. They also have a nice deli like all Vons, Albertsons, and Stater Bros. But the last time out, even the deli employees were very polite despite lots of impatient people like me waiting to get some prepared salads. The management no doubt trained their employees that having decent customer service skills is critical. I've also had their fried chicken and other foods, and it's not bad. Their produce, while pricey, is good. Vons and Pavilions are the only chains that consistently carry the Concorde pear in the winter...it's a mini version of those luscious gift boxed jumbo pears at Christmas. This store is also convenient as heck if you're a B of A customer. That bank has a branch next door. And next door to them, they have a Starbucks. Back to inside Vons, they also have a huge selection of just about everything you need at this location. Every time I shop here, the employee working the aisle I am asks if I need help if I start looking frustrated. They even walk me to the next item on my list if I ask them to. It speeds things up so I can get out of there! Sometimes the lines are long, like any supermarket. At least, if you have a ValuCard, they'll tell you how much you saved and thank you by name as listed on your card. I don't like some of the bogus charities (like the people with the all white outfits who keep lots of what people donate) that sometimes hound you when you walk out. I am a grand daughter of a baker from Chicago and while yes I can sometimes bake I prefer to get a cake from Vons bakery. They have the best strawberry Boston cream cake, it's always fresh.
