I'll be honest Stater Bros. has never really been my go-to. From the outside, it felt a bit outdated, so I didn't expect much. But I was pleasantly surprised. A friend brought me in, and the first thing I noticed was the meat section. They had fresh-cut meats and butchers right there, ready to help. I chatted with them a bit, and they were helpful and friendly. We grabbed some ice cream and a few other items, and the selection was actually pretty solid. It's not a huge store, but for its size, it's well stocked and easy to navigate. Overall, I had a pretty good experience and it definitely changed my mind about Stater Bros. Long overdue for my go to market. Everyone from the cashiers to the deli/food workers are always so sweet and helpful. It's always clean and organized. Now the real reason I'm reviewing is because of the bakery and deli. I hate cooking so lately I've gone straight to the food/deli area and do the 8piece baked chicken meal deal that also comes with a side and four rolls. It's good cheap and great way to get protein in haha. I make a salad at home and bam balanced meal for about 3-4 days as dinner or lunch option. Oh and the ladies are always so friendly!! Bakery. Ok I think this is standout. Their cakes are delicious!!! I walked in on 4/22 to pick up a cake for dad and I. To my surprise there was a carrot cake!! It was sweet , rich and delicious. For my bros baby shower I ordered two "naked" cakes (trendy cake) and the nailed it. Plus everyone at the shower was raving about it and asked where it was from. They almost didn't believe me when I said Stater Bros bakery hahaha. Oh and I basically went in at 6am the day before the shower for the "naked" cake request!!! Highly recommend bakery. i went shopping here recently and i was left with a super bad taste in my mouth. i was shopping and stopped a worker asking where the pickles were as she was conversing with another worker. her name was like stephany or steph i didn't catch it, and she was wearing a tie. she appeared very annoyed and almost as if she was thinking about ignoring me. she did eventually tell me and as i walked off she said "stupid whore." to the other coworker. i'm super unimpressed by who they allow to work here. no manners and no customer service. read more

I FOUND MY CRACKERS! I have an addiction to these "crav'n oyster crackers". Stater bros and save mart are the only the only two stores that have these crackers. The service at this stater bros was good, the girl was very understanding of my addiction and she gave us good information about the stater bros market. We are not from the Costa Mesa area. Long over due...I have not been in this store for almost a decade it's a little different now with the one door. But I wanted to say my experience was as good as it was back then. Especially with the deli and young women that were near the front entrance I believe filling the cheeses and meats and sandwiches? I try and remember everything these days but I just can't. I do remember their names at least Jessica and Shantal? they did to try to help. And then someone guy in a white collar shirt started with a J. Didn't realize he was in charge of the store until We left. He did not seem like a manger as he seemed like a person meaning I guess with everything going on world for the people by the people sounds funny. But the customers are the people. There is no law or policy that states I have to physically tell you my age. Otherwise how do you deal with deaf people? My valid California id that says I was born in 1987 should be enough. My go-to grocery store! They renovated the store kind of recently and it is so nice! Stater Bros is always clean and well organized. The produce is always fresh and there is generally a large selection of products. There are rarely any times when I am unable to find something that I need. The workers are amazing too! They are always friendly and put me in a good mood. I've consistently had a great time shopping at Stater Bros! This post goes out to Ana in the bakery department. I walked into the store (my first time) last Saturday on a mad hunt for a Charli XCX- themed brat birthday cake (see pic). I'd already stopped by Ralph's, Mother's, Vons, Whole Foods and Lady M Cakes and several other bake shops that morning with no luck. I thought I was going to show up to the party cakeless until I stopped by this Stater Bros. This was my last stop before giving up. I browsed the bakery counter and asked Ana if they could make a cake like one I'd seen on display, except neon green. I was expecting her to say "no, you need to place an order in advance" like everyone else had said to me that day but instead, she said no problem! She didn't even look at me like I was crazy for ordering a green cake that said: brat bday. And the cake was done within ten minutes! And it was perfect! Looked good and tasted even better. Today, in the hustle and bustle of getting ready to host a Thanksgiving dinner for 40 of my family members, I went to Stater Brothers to buy my groceries. because I was so preoccupied. I left a 4 pound tri-tip in my shopping cart in the parking lot of Stater brothers. I went back an hour later. Spoke to the manager and asked if anyone had returned my tri-tip. She asked around and no one had returned it. I was fully prepared to purchase another one when the manager told me to go ahead and pick one out and take it. So while it's annoying that someone took some thing that they didn't pay for. My faith in humanity was renewed by this manager working on Wednesday, 11/22!!!! I believe the Baker/Fairview SB is the happiest grocery store in the area. Way nicer than the Newport/Victoria one which is closer.

I always have had good experiences at Stater Brothers on Baker Street in Costa Mesa, but yesterday I had 3 EXCEPTIONAL experiences! I am so grateful to Produce "guy" Eddie, who is always friendly and helpful and chose the best watermelon for me that I have eaten this entire summer! I stopped Stock Clerk Elijah and asked him to look for A & W Diet soda for me in the stockroom, and he went right away and found exactly what I wanted. And Cashier Jamie, who is always a joy to see, ran full speed out of the store to follow a lady who had inadvertently left her wallet behind! Way to go, Jamie! Shout outs to Daisy, Christina, and TC, who are consistently helpful and kind and efficient, as well as Manager Stephanie whose customer service is excellent. One of the butchers wouldn't follow instructions. I asked for all flats for party wings & he gave me a mix of drumsticks and flats. I told him to put away the drumsticks, then he put away several flats. Every other Stater Bros butchers are able to listen & give customers what they ask for. It shouldn't be so hard to follow such simple step & I promise you a 7 year old can do a better job than the butcher. read more

I was put in an uncomfortable situation in the women's restroom here at this supermarket last week. I asked an employee at the produce for the bathroom code, the code didn't work so I asked a female employee who was near the bathroom. She opened the bathroom for me. No more than five minutes later a male employee begins to bang on the bathroom door stating he is a "Janitor ! Janitor !" He was not a janitor but one of the bald white male employees trying to get me out of the bathroom. He knocked three times and unlocked the door using the code, he did not have any cleaning equipment. I told him I need to wash my hands and need a moment, before he could open the door all the way. I'm writing this review to advise the team at this location to not send men into the women's restroom no matter what they believe someone might be doing. I myself do not understand why they wanted me out the bathroom and I do not want to think it is because I'm a person of color and they thought I was stealing. She is always cheery for all of the customers that pass through her check out. If she's had bad days (I mean we all do) You would never know it. This place is a weirdo magnet! Don't know why, just be aware. Manager of the bakery is a jerk. Complained to management after a very rude encounter with him. The workers here could all use better training in customer care. Reflects poor management. But prices and selection are decent. It's cheaper than Vons, has later hours, but less produce. Liquor area is vast. I shopped here occasionally, when I wasn't at Bargain Outlet or Walmart. Walmart has better prices, worth a drive to HB or SA if you are on a budget and have the extra time. P.s. churro donuts are very popular here, they sell out fast. But they're overrated..Dry as can be, too dense and bready, and pricier than the other donuts. Don't bother and just get the real thing at one of the many nearby Mexican eateries. Or even better, OCCC swap meet has churros out the wazoo. read more

Rudy and Nathan really went out of their way to provide me with excellent service today! They went in the back to see if there was more rootbeer so I could get a discount. There was not, so Rudy, negotiated a price reduction to my satisfaction. But, above all, they were very friendly and actually cared about meeting my needs and making me happy. ALWAYS TRIPLE CHECK & WASH YOUR PRODUCE! I was excited to see Stater Bros has had maintained consistently lower prices on produce since the start of the pandemic..now I'm not so excited.. You should always examine & wash your produce however this was exceptionally true for these brussel sprouts I bought on 6/7. After being in a tied produce bag and sealed container for 2 DAYS in my fridge until I had time to properly wash them.. I found these LIVE bugs/mites in the outer leaves Umm I understand COVID has severely altered supply chains while the need for fresh veggies has stayed the same, if not increased making it hard to keep up with demand (Which is my reason for 2 stars , not 1) but a less careful/ hungrier person definitely would have eaten/cooked these bug read more
