Two "naked" cakes one chocolate and other vanilla
    Tracy B.

Long overdue for my go to market. Everyone from the cashiers to the deli/food workers are always so sweet and helpful. It's always clean and organized. Now the real reason I'm reviewing is because of the bakery and deli. I hate cooking so lately I've gone straight to the food/deli area and do the 8piece baked chicken meal deal that also comes with a side and four rolls. It's good cheap and great way to get protein in haha. I make a salad at home and bam balanced meal for about 3-4 days as dinner or lunch option. Oh and the ladies are always so friendly!! Bakery. Ok I think this is standout. Their cakes are delicious!!! I walked in on 4/22 to pick up a cake for dad and I. To my surprise there was a carrot cake!! It was sweet , rich and delicious. For my bros baby shower I ordered two "naked" cakes (trendy cake) and the nailed it. Plus everyone at the shower was raving about it and asked where it was from. They almost didn't believe me when I said Stater Bros bakery hahaha. Oh and I basically went in at 6am the day before the shower for the "naked" cake request!!! Highly recommend bakery. At least from this location!

Crav'n soup & oyster crackers ORIGINAL.

I FOUND MY CRACKERS! I have an addiction to these "crav'n oyster crackers". Stater bros and save mart are the only the only two stores that have these crackers. The service at this stater bros was good, the girl was very understanding of my addiction and she gave us good information about the stater bros market. We are not from the Costa Mesa area. The store was clean! While I did not go to the bathroom while in the store, I believe it would be a clean bathroom. Stater bros succeeded to satisfy my needs. Wonderful experience!

Brat Charli XCX birthday cake (neon green cake)

This post goes out to Ana in the bakery department. I walked into the store (my first time) last Saturday on a mad hunt for a Charli XCX- themed brat birthday cake (see pic). I'd already stopped by Ralph's, Mother's, Vons, Whole Foods and Lady M Cakes and several other bake shops that morning with no luck. I thought I was going to show up to the party cakeless until I stopped by this Stater Bros. This was my last stop before giving up. I browsed the bakery counter and asked Ana if they could make a cake like one I'd seen on display, except neon green. I was expecting her to say "no, you need to place an order in advance" like everyone else had said to me that day but instead, she said no problem! She didn't even look at me like I was crazy for ordering a green cake that said: brat bday. And the cake was done within ten minutes! And it was perfect! Looked good and tasted even better. I was shocked at the customer service and still am as I'm writing this. I'm now going to go to this Stater Bros for all my custom cake needs. Thanks, Ana!

Low quality in return and standards. I notice some steak oxidizing once got back home. Very lucky to throw that out once seen. No care when it comes to smoking. Saw some dude with sandals in blue shirt smoking right next to the entrance & exit of this location. Management needs to take action not allowing that to happen. Never coming here again on awful service nor experience. Waste of my life.

Parking can be tough since this place is always crowded. There are table seatings were you can eat and also TV screen and bar for drinks. I've tried the tacos, the crispy chicharron and the churros. The churros are my favorite, not too sugary and fried to perfection, hot chocolate there is bomb too. Tacos weren't the best I've had but meat was tender. Overall fun place to come with friends, would love to try margo my next visit!

Affordable price points - I understand this is a tough economy - HOWEVER I have heard the pricing can fluctuate between this gentrified version and other locations throughout traditionally lower socioeconomic areas - which is fine -- I get it - it's a nice flagship store - you're capitalizing on the nuances and novelty of it all- which again. Whatever -- I do however notice in the few weeks - as a regular weekly customer - the same exact items that I get have DROPPED IN QUALITY while simultaneously INCREASING IN PRICE!!! And we aren't talking about small cost of living increases - these are dabbling if not diving full fucking head first into price gouging. EG - my favorite Vanilla shake & mini churro combo that used to save me a dollar on if I buy the items individually ( I think it was $12-)15?) UP TO $17. No more mini churros. I don't even think I saw them on the menu anymore -- aka you're forced to pay for larger sizes and prices. . . Which one would think ok ... that's somewhat fine -- BUT NO. The smoothie I've been buying for over a year and a half now - ALMOST on a weekly basis - is so fucking WATERY. It's ricidiculous. It used to be so thick and cream and decadent. I've been wondering for the last month wtf is it a new employee -- has my shake been sitting here melting away the last 4-5 weeks? No. It's fresh off the blender and just thinner across the board. Such a shame. Same thing for my lovely Chicken Asado Verde Soup - WAS FUCKING AMAZING !!! And the price point was something like 32 ox for $12. I used to rant and rave with coworkers and friends that this soup is spectacular and although pricey at "$12" (for me) - I went it again over the months - and thought I want some delicious soup that taste like grandmas. I ordered it - I noticed the new slew of containers. Didn't think much. Glances at the prices - said I'll take the large - WHICH IS A NEW "family style" My $12 portion - SAME SIZE NOW - $32 (yes) THIRTY EFFING TWO DOLLARS. Call me a fat ass - but that CANNOT feed - maybe an Ethiopian or anorexic family - but for one moderately high BMI - American. Which I get everything is fucking super sized - but to see price points increase SIGNIFICANTLY - while decreasing quality - seems like a quick recipe for distaste that I hope whomever is managing the restaurant presto side of things - really advocates for the quality and fair price points that made this flag ship a store to love. I hate to bitch and moan - and I'm sure my volunteer group won't want to change our flexible situation - but I've began to notice people just bring outside food in - and have their meals with us. Which is fine - I might have to do the same - because come on - upping pricing. Lowering quality. It's like Matilda's father throwing sawdust in the engine. Be better. Anyways heed my warning - at those price points for *certain* premade items - just take your ass to Erewhon - at least I expect my ass is going to hurt when I leave.

The grocery is good for what to expect for any Asian market but the main attraction is the food court. It may not seem like much but all of them are really good and would fill up your hunger instantly. My favorites from the top of my head are the Katsu Don if I remember correctly and the Udon section where you pick your tempura (don't know the exact name). Overall good place to eat lunch or even dinner. Another problem would be finding a seat since there's hardly any tables and your plate is pretty big and bowls are heavy so you have to be somewhat quick to find a seat. The ambiance is fine but that's kind of to be expect in any supermarket, which is usually crowds talking and all. I really don't have much to say. Ever since this place closed down the anime shop, the DVD store, and bookstore, this place pretty much lost what made Mitsuwa special and worth visiting. Especially for someone who's into both anime and tokusatsu like Super Sentai (Japanese Power Rangers). Those places are what got me my first Gundam model kit (Freedom Gundam from Gundam Seed) and my go to place for Japanese DVDs as mentioned (Gokaiger, Kyoryuger, and Nanoha). I understand why they close down these stores, especially with streaming services and online shopping are a thing, even though I don't fully agree as they are customers like me that would prefer in-store physical copies. That is why I deduct one star. These are replaces with a gachapon store, a Matcha store, a Boba store I believe and Daiso. The matcha and boba place (forgot the names sorry) are surprisingly good. I really like the matcha ice cream in a bowl and I believe the Doncha. The gachapon I cannot say as I never spend money there and I'm not into these gacha machines and I rarely buy anything in Daiso as its just your typical convenience store that sells some Japanese stuff so I won't say much. In conclusion, it's a very nice spot to eat Japanese meals and especially something to fill you up for the day while also shopping to buy Japanese food to cook at home. Just be aware this is pretty pricey, especially the Royce matcha chocolates and the food court.
