Almost every person vacationing from Hawaii has to make a stop at T J's for omiyagi. I even remember a sign in one of the TJs in Vegas that had a list of the top 10 gifts to bring back to Hawai'i. So we chose this location because it was suppose to be one of the bigger ones in the area. The selection was large and we got all of our goodies but the bags. We were there at 10 am and were informed they were out by 9am. And the next shipment wouldn't be for a couple of days. But there was another TJs at Harbor. So off we went. read more

I'm so impressed with the staff. They are nice, polite and appreciative of their customers. Few weeks ago,I was in line for the popular small Trader Joe's bags . I was in awe with an employee who came out and spoke to the people reassuring them not to worry because there's a lot of bags enough for everybody. I'm not sure if he's the manager. Upon entering the store, staff was greeting us and thanking us for being patient in waiting. The customers were asked to pick 2 bags for each color , which I thought was more systematic so people are in and out of the store quickly ,instead of the staff handing the bags to the customers which will take longer. For some reason, I always felt welcomed at this store. The place is clean and they have all the things I wanted. read more

*TJ's Bridges the Gap* I've been shopping at TJ's nearly my entire life. It's one of the places I can't live without. If you're a loyal regular customer like me, you know what I'm babbling about. Been to dozens of TJ's throughout California, Nevada, Arizona, and Boston, MA. What I love about TJ's is no matter which location you're at, they carry mostly the same items, and they're always easy to locate. Even though this store is "technically in Costa Mesa" it borders Newport Beach...and I like this location much more than "the other one" in NB on PCH. Was recently in Newport Beach for a week, and wifey & I stocked up on all our regular TJ's grocery essentials to fulfill our breakfast, lunch and snack needs. They had everything in stock we needed. What also stands out here is the WIDE & spacious aisles, inside a rather large store...and more checkout lines than other TJ's. Another thing that's consistent at TJ's is their outstanding customer service...and they set the bar high. This location is no different than the others -- everyone was/is so helpful & friendly -- they make you feel like a friend or family. The customers here are friendly too. Lots & lots of parking provided in their own lot, like most TJ's. But one thing I suggest is maybe not parking too close to the front. This location has ample parking and the store is spacious. They are stocked with the Indian selections I like: vegetable samosas ($4) and palak paneer ($4). They also have chicken shumai ($4) which I've never seen since it usually comes with pork instead. I always come away with other items I find interesting, such as black garlic spice ($3), pizza dough ($3), thai shrimp gyoza ($5.50). Of course, I have to add a Charles Shaw wine too (formerly Two Buck Chuck), which they've raised the price to $3.50. The staff is helpful and try their best to locate items I can't find myself. I keep trying to come back here over the years and I think I'm finally done because..... 1. Spoiled foods: cheese, milk, fresh juices. They look ok, then you get home and open it and nope - spoiled. 2. When you buy whole heads of any lettuce, it is almost always slimy when you open it up. 3. The frozen gluten free waffles are inedible. 4. No price tags on MANY items all over the store. 5. We've been sick from their eggs twice even though they were kept cold and were well before the sell by date. 6. The packaged salads and sandwiches (prepared foods) gave our entire class food poisoning and ruined our classes for days. All of us got sick. The only thing this store is good for is cheap wine, cheap flowers and stoner snacks. read more

Trader Joe's is always a good spot for groceries and to get items that you don't normally see. I decided to try something new and something that I actually saw advertised on their IG page. It was the tomato feta soup and organic naan crackers. Wow, pleasantly surprised with how good the tomato feta soup taste that I would actually get it every time I go there. It went well with the crackers too. It's nice to eat this when I just need a simple snack to hold me over when the day gets too busy. read more

This review is to give recognition to EG. Earlier today I called this location in search of a limited item "cold pressed juice" watermelon. To keep things short, my uncle is going through his second round of radiation in Sacramento, and this specific drink is really helping him due to it having zero fiber. My mom also has cancer and will be starting radiation in two weeks. I explained this to EG, and he was so kind when we spoke on the phone. He checked the inventory and said they had some. I asked if it was possible to put some on hold and he didn't even hesitate to say yes. I gave him my husbands info (because I'm currently in NorCal to help my mom while my husband is still home), and before we hung up he gave well wishes. He said he could relate to my story and that broke my heart. So later on my husband went to pick up the drinks we had on hold, and EG added a bouquet of flowers for us for free. I hope he reads this review and knows what an amazing human he is. He was kind and thoughtful and went above and beyond for my family and I. We live in HB, and will gladly take the trip to this location after the fantastic service my family experienced today. THANK YOU EG. Also, I've never had an issue with this store. Best Trader Joe's location ever? I've been to many different locations in California and elsewhere and this clean and spacious store (inside and the parking lot) takes the highest step on the podium. The funny thing is, I cannot decide which location takes second (aka first loser) or third. We were showing my mother the Newport Coast and a few of our favorite haunts when we decided to check out the store since it was close. Driving up I couldn't believe how civilized the parking lot is, no shortage of spots, ample spacing, just wow already. The entrance shares the common exit we all probably hate but for some reason it's not a total CF (looking at you Riverside location) as most. Another astonished thought was how neat and orderly things were inside and an unprecedented amount of space between rows and kiosks. Elbow room! A wine tasting area? Say what? The usual samples kitchen was also placed in an area that wouldn't interrupt the flow of traffic. Then, we found products that our local store doesn't carry. Long story short, this location exudes class and dignity and the employees and cashiers are all marvelous too! read more

I absolutely love Trader Joe's and think they are one of the best grocery stores out there. I really appreciate their friendly staff members and their care during Covid. I love that they provide great products at reasonable affordable prices. One of my favorite things in the last couple years is that they have added a lot more vegan/ plant-based products which I love! I hope they continue to develop more of these. This specific location has a decent parking lot compared to other locations, however it can be sometimes difficult to get out of the parking lot during peak times. Every time I come here it's such an amazing experience. I love Trader Joe's because of the yummy products they have and small amount of isles (makes my visit shorter). What's even better than these two things is the service! Trader Joe's is ensuring that everyone is safe during these times. I accidentally brought a reusable bag with me during my most recent visit and a employee kindly reminded me that they're not accepting them in store currently but that I could leave it outside till after my visit. As we were checking out (and having a great convo with the employee at checkout) we exited Trader Joe's completely forgetting about our reusable bag, she raced behind us and told us not to forget it. Biggest Trader Joe's I've been to with a huge selection of items that I couldn't find at other locations. After many devastating visits to my local TJ's, walking out without my coconut whipped cream that I've been on a search for for who knows how long, I found it here sitting casually next to all the other dairy products. There's other cool items that I never seen in other TJs too so it was hard for me not to buy half the store. Inside was very clean and staff were friendly & approachable. Awhile back I was gonna hit these guys hard for lack of coffee samples in the afternoon (?? Come on afternoon is when I NEED THE POP OF CAFFEINE!!) but their cheery smiles and nice attitude managed to give me a lift despite the lack of free coffee vibes. When covid hit nobody could serve up the fun samples anymore anyway. FLASH FORWARD TO TODAY .... Needed dill and they didn't have any in the dry spices and were out in the fresh area. My wife actually was the one that got into buying groceries at Trader Joe's. We usually go to the one by our house in Rancho Santa Margarita. But on some Fridays, we do shop at this location in Costa Mesa. The shop is clean and organized. Staff is usually friendly, professional, and helpful. They could give you very good suggestions on cooking products! Only reason I am giving it four stars instead of five, is because of the parking lot. The parking spots are very small, not everyone has smart cars lol. A regular truck would go over the lines, I have a '21 RAV4, and I can park inside the lines barely. If another truck parks next to me, it would be difficult to open the door to get out. That's why I park the farthest lol! But other than that, this location has almost everything you'll need for your shopping!! Plus, they have people outside actively cleaning and sanitizing the shopping carts for us Overall, It is a great store! read more

I went to Trader Joe's last night. When I was in line the young man behind the register asked me how I was? We have this question asked multiple times a day, and usually the answer is "fine thank you". I looked at him and responded, "Well, not a great day." It would have been easy for him to move on with a quick, response (there was a line behind me), "I hope it gets better". But instead he genuinely asked "why". I told him "I put my dog down today". He finished checking me out and said, "wait a minute." He ran over and handed me a bouquet of flowers. The gesture was so kind, and so unexpected, I cried and hugged the young man. If you like Trader Joe's it is a Trader Joe's. If you don't, ten what is wrong with you? Did someone not love you as a child? The fam had a wee staycation down in Newport so I switched up to this location since it was nearby. Of course the layout is different, the layout of every one is different, but they have a wine tasting station, which is the first time I have seen that in a TJ's. Beyond that, they have all the stuff you expect, you just have to search for it unless you are used to this layout. The one thing I don't care for is how the checkout lines are laid out, but did I mention they have wine tasting? So I guess that balances out. read more
