The music they play in store is just the absolute worst - and there's constantly a super high pitch ringing noise in the deli dept. Obsessed with this quick convenience stop! Their breakfast sandwich (on a bagel with ham) is so simple and delicious - they were even able to add pepperoni is to it from the salad bar right there. The chubby rude guy at the bakery counter needs an attitude adjustment. He never says thank you (several times). He slams the sliding door to get the pastries and always has a bad attitude towards paying customers. He has a lousy attitude and makes me not want to come back here due to his rude mannerisms. Irvine Ranch Market is a local store. Its well organized and they have a small bakery and cute Christmas decoration. Store itself was clean and employees were friendly. I stop by to buy meat but when i saw there's frost inside of refrigerator, i changed my mind...i had a plan to buy the prepared pizza and i didnt like the look...It didnt look fresh and then i smelt weird smell like stale water around that areas so i changed my mind and ended up buying the gate-rate and walked out. My wife and I hit Coffee Dose a couple times a week, and every time we walk by The Market next door, we always say we need to check it out. We finally did, and it honestly surprised us. We expected maybe a sandwich bar and a couple things, but it turned out to be a full-on grocery setup with local goods, snacks, drinks, and even some tasting samples from OC brands. It had way more variety than we thought, and it was super clean and well laid out. We went mainly for the sandwiches, and I grabbed the Godfather which I heard was their top pick, and my wife got the Torpedo on sourdough with just turkey and green sprouts. She said it was solid but needed something extra, so she added some of the olive oil and vinegar they have in the store and that helped a lot. My Godfather though? I threw on some jalapenos and that thing was loaded with flavor. Every bite was packed and the bread was crunchy in all the right ways. Easily one of the better sandwiches I've had in the area. We also tried some seasoned local tortilla chips they had and those were legit too. The poke bar was a fun surprise. Full spread with ahi tuna and toppings and the quality held up even though it had been sitting out. I came back the following week just to try a bowl and was happy with it. This is one of those spots you can swing by on a lunch break or before heading to the beach and walk out with a great sandwich and a few local snacks. Super glad we finally checked it out. read more

I love this spot! Great deli and salad bar selection, coffee bar, and plenty of fresh to-go pre packaged items. The grocery section gives off a blended vibe of Farmer's market and Whole Foods without being pretentious. Reminds me of how markets were prior to large grocery chains. I would love to give this little market 5 stars! It's cute, clean, local, and has exactly everything you'd need. The staff is super nice too. We live right around the corner from them, and there really isn't another grocery store within an 8 min drive, so I find this place to be super convenient. However, it does come with a price. Everything is about double the price of what you'd find at a Ralph's. For example, a box of plain Cheerios was nearly $10 here whereas it's about $5 at any other chain. I so badly want to support the local business here, but the prices I find aren't worth the trade off. TL;DR - perfect for that one ingredient you didn't have and need to make a pit stop. read more

Called the store and talked to the butcher Randy to see if they had the beautiful porterhouse steaks I had seen there before. They had just received entire piece and he offered to cut it how I liked. I hurried in and got the first cut where the tenderloin portion is the largest and had him cut it 2.25 inches thick, it weighed 3.4 lbs. He trimmed off excess bone and fat. Irvine Ranch Market is my go to spot for sandwiches. The grilled chicken breakfast panini is my favorite. The sandwiches are huge, my husband and I usually split a combo. Never been here before and I passed it just before seeing a client and grabbing lunch. Great options for warm and cold food, groceries, and the cutest baked goods. I got some mac and cheese; it was creamy just needs a little seasoning or some black pepper to take it up a notch. The bow tie pasta was yummy, I'd also add a little seasoning kick to it. I'm used to a bit more flavor. The turkey sandwich was delish and very fresh (and refreshing)! They had great service --friendly and quick! I had fun walking around. What a great little market! Located in Costa Mesa (technically) and Newport Beach adjacent this is a must try shopping trip. Trust your gut feeling upon looking at the meats in their deli. I ordered a charcuterie board for a party. I immediately thought the color was off on the prosciutto and various other meats, but it was packaged tightly. They had even added more prosciutto because it was incomplete. I paid $80 and took it home 5 minutes away and refrigerated it. I took it in an iced cooler to our party. Once I took the cover off a couple people tried the prosciutto and said it didn't taste right. I tried it as well, and it was definitely off with that bad taste meat has when it has passed. The nuts, crackers and bread were in a separate plate and seemed okay, but the meats and cheeses were tainted. No one else touched it for fear of food poisoning. It was extremely embarrassing and upsetting as this was a contribution to a gathering. I called early this morning and spoke to the deli manager Raul, who assured me that if I came in today or tomorrow my payment would be refunded without any issue. I told him I no longer had the paper receipt and he assured me that was not an issue. Said he remembered the order. I arrived this same afternoon and he had suddenly changed his tune. Said he needed to see photos of the board at the party (??)which I showed him, as well as the credit card statement and the Apple Pay Wallet receipt. He refused to do any type of credit or reimbursement and actually became combative and insulting. If you need something like packaged chips or a quick snack, this could be your store, but stay away from the deli counter or any type of fresh foods. Excellent variety of pick up on the go food options. I had the Hawaiian papaya stuffed with chicken salad, fresh and delicious. Picked up baby lettuce mix and romaine lettuces, added cucumbers slices from the salad bar. The papaya was labeled as a snack, but highly recommend as full lunch. I have been buying prime grade steaks for years but the quality is now terrible. I can't believe how much I paid for Prime grade. 80% is not edible. The subs/sandwiches have been going way down too the bread was not even edible. Sad to see the place going down hill. read more

I am only writing this review on one thing - the chicken pot pie I bought from the Deli. I forgot to ask what to do with it when I got home, so I called. I was told, it was fully cooked so put in the oven at 325 for about 15 min to heat. I put it in for 20. Oh My- the bottom dough was RAW and the filling was cold. I put it in the microwave for 4 minutes on high - and it was inedible. The crust was so greasy. I wish I had taken pictures because it was unbelievable. I stopped in on a whim, but with the experience I had, I am not inspired to go back. There are a lot of great reviews but I sure picked the wrong item. read more

This store has a better selection as a grocery store but the deli at Balboa island makes better food, the customer service is better, they are more friendly. I had driven past here for years without going inside. Boy, was that a mistake!! What prompted me to stop in was that they now have a smaller version of the store right on Balboa Island and I wad impressed with how much quality and variety they could put into a tiny little market over there. So I went here was really blown away. Every aisle, every refrigerated and freezer case and behind every bakery counter was wonderful delicious food hiding in plain sight for all this time. It's not just the great variety but everything in here is at the highest quality especially the items in the butcher case and the bakery. Came in for a hot meal after a long day at work. A employee was cleaning the glass/acrylic windows with all the hot prepared food with Windex. She sprayed the outside and then sprayed a cloth with Windex to clean the inside. You should never use chemical sprays near food. While she was spraying the Windex on the outside of the glass it was very very close to the salad bar.. Then instead of smelling like yummy food it smelled like Windex. It ruined my appetite. So I left. Never ever spray chemicals near food. Your customers can get sick. This place used to have yummy food and great service, but it has been slowly declining since the remodel. read more

Amazingly, both my wife and I are in agreement that we never want to shop here again. Weird, unfriendly staff at every department. First stop was the deli to get prepared foods and sliced turkey. Unsmiling unfriendly staff didn't want to give me extra plastic bags so I could repackage the deli items. Next stop was the meat department to get ice for the frozen foods we were purchasing. The clerk had a look like we were bothering him. I had to suggest he get it from the seafood dept, and we made him walk to the back of the seafood dept to get the ice. Last was check out....
