This is exclusively to the curbside pick up at the La Mesa Vons. I would give zero stars if I could to be honest. I tried the curbside pickup for the first time a few weeks ago and spent 20min in the parking lot before I gave up and went inside. I talked to the very friendly self checkout cashier who was very helpful and made it understood that this happens a lot. She guided me to the area where they hold the pick up orders where a young man in charge seemed to be unaware of my waiting in the parking lot and explained that the app sometimes has issues. He brought my produce out and suggested that I call the number on the signs next time as to not repeat this issue in the future. I understand that technology sucks at times and didn't hold it against him. I tried the curbside feature again today. Checked in on the app, waited 5min and called the number as previously suggested. Talked to someone who said they'd be out shortly, 15min went by. Called 3 times with no one picking up. Finally went into the store, to the area where they hold pick up orders to see what the issue was and I could hear the phone ringing from my own call with no one in sight. Grabbed my own order (coulda taken some else's as well apparently) and walked out the door after half an hour from me first getting there. Woulda been much faster to do my own shopping. -10/10 do NOT recommend curbside pick up at this particular vons but feel free to do other shopping there including the flower department which I frequent. It takes a LOT for me to leave a negative review but if this vons doesn't have the staff to provide curbside pickup then simply don't offer it, it's that easy. read more

I have been there in all hours of the day and never had a bad experience. Their produce is always well kept and fresh. The floral selection is on point. Allow me to preface this review with the statement that... I do not understand why anybody shops at Vons... their sales prices are even higher than other discount markets regular prices. I shop there only in an urgent situation for convenience sake and this is why I don't like Vons or at least one of the reasons. This filet mignon weighs in at .57 pounds per the sticker on the package... Which is 9.12 ounces. When I went to prepare it, the.FAT weighed in at 2.1 ounces. that would be about 23% of that $25.99 fillet mignon was waste.... Unless you love FAT, then that is totally unacceptable and a giant rip off. Of course, at least to me, it is no surprise that this market as well as others in the chain rate less than 2.5 on a 5.0 scale. But who can blame them for their corporate greed... Hell if Trump can get away with ripping off billions then why shouldn't the corporations follow suit. read more

For the many that remember the nights of protestors that had destroyed the many areas of San Diego and the many areas of the East County leaving many buildings that were destroyed from the violence that took place here in many areas. One of the strongest stores that was destroyed so badly, and the front area of the store was destroyed yet the many months that people waited the city of Lamesa, and the University Ave helped with the many repairs to bring the Spring Street Village back to the way it was before. The Lamesa Village is one of the older parts of the city of Lamesa and the Lamesa Blvd is the main rod that takes you through the city past the many restaurants to where you can go to church and go shopping at Sprouts. Vons is one store that when you walk in the store and the many departments that you see tight when you come in the front door past the Starbucks Coffee. When I had arrived at Lamesa Village it was by way of the trolley and the short walk from the Lamesa Blvd Transit Center with the short walk there are many buses close by the Vons Store. With the large parking areas out front and the many stores and with a Panda Express close by you have so many choices with Vons has some of the best sandwiches and soups you can choose from the large Delhi they have great cold cuts with some of the best salads. Making dinner I was going to Vons for the large tomatoes and the red onions and the large containers of sour creme which was on sale at the store. Vons has been one store for when the store first opened it was the one store that had created such a great family with the beast place to come and the interior was one that had the bit of the taste of a large barn and the structure was one big store. For the many shoppers that come to the Vons store you have one of the best times with the Starbucks Coffee you can have a Frappuccino and still have the best time of shopping. The customer service is one of the best and yet with some times you may have to gap them on the shoulder and ask directions. For the many food stores that are here in San Diego Vons is one that was purchased by Albertson's I have shopped at also and I have found that Vons Lamesa Village Spring Street has the great atmosphere. As a Yelp Elite Reviewer, the many years that Vons has had and the many years with the City of Lamesa the store has been one that has battled through the many difficulties and has risen from the many conflicts. If you're planning to buy produce here, I'd think twice -- 9 times out of 10, it's bad. It's often spoiled or just not fresh, which is disappointing for any grocery store. That said, everything else is decent, which is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. The service is another issue. It doesn't feel welcoming, especially toward people of color -- even though some of the employees are POC themselves. There's a noticeable lack of basic courtesy: no greetings when you walk in, no acknowledgment at the register, and the overall vibe feels cold and uninviting. On top of that, if you raise a concern or make a complaint, they just look at you and laugh -- as if your experience doesn't matter. Bathroom was filthy and smelled bad. I've been in rest areas bathroom in the interstate cleaner than that Vons restroom. Then at the checkout, the bar code on the hydrogen peroxide was messed up. The clerk looked at me as if I needed to leave the line with 4 other people behind me. She could have called for assistance or just looked up on their site. Come on. There were no physical check out clerks when I went in last time. And the one clerk that was there at the automated check out was kind of rude when I asked what happened to all the check out people. And security wasn't helpful when I asked questions about digital coupons as he was hovering over me as I was trying to figure it out. I love shopping at this Vons because it's always so clean, however the customer service could be better. One of the store managers named John was rude towards me. I asked him if he could turn on his aisle light so customers would be aware that he is open. John responded to me in a rude tone and embarrassed me in front of other customers, "No, I don't have to turn on my lIght because I am the manager." Also there's a pretty famous video on YouTube of a guy who was on meth and trying to meet up with a minor (basically Catch a Predator) at this location. Just a year ago this place was completely trashed by crazy protesters. Who would remember that as they had completely fixed everything to make it look brand new again. I was still on the hunt for the rest of the Lactaid ice cream flavors and my search pointed me to Albertson instead, but then did you know Vons and Albertson are the same now? So by saving time from driving to an actual Albertson, I stopped by here on the way home, and I found the rest of the Lactaid ice cream flavors minus the Vanilla ones I got yesterday. Positive: Produce is good Pharmacy has prescriptions Daisy and sunflowers seem to live more than a few days Cons: DON'T BUY FREEZER STUFF! Their settings are not set well for frozen foods. On different occasions I bought ice creams or junk food and it was freezer burned and crystalized making the item taste funny. I have brought it to their attention and even left a previous review, that seems to have vanished, and they said they would fix their issues and still haven't. Their roses die quickly Bathrooms are disgusting and never clean and require a code. I don't normally shop here but needed a few things on the way home around 10 at night. As soon as I pull into an aisle and start looking at the shelves, I notice a security guard glaring at me from further down the aisle, making his presence known. He was standing in the middle, directly facing me. Made me feel deeply uncomfortable to be treated like a potential criminal in a grocery store. The store was nice enough but my "beef" actually lies in the meat department pun intended I tried to get two pounds of prime rib-eye from the worker that goes by the name "Max" I found out later from a supervisor that he's supposed to be the manager. Upon placing my order Max rolled his eyes at me and acted like he was bothered by having to interact with a customer. That was the first problem. Second problem following was after I completed the rest of my shopping I was walking to my car where I saw Max smoking something by a Hyundai (I'm guessing his?) car and it smelled like marijuana. As someone who works at a grocery store I was surprised that he was behaving this way especially from someone who is supposed to be a manager. I immediately let staff know about his misconduct and let them know I didn't find it safe that he could possibly be under the influence especially around a meat slicer and customers. They allow the lines to be 6 deep and still nobody else comes to help and the checker never calls for help. Also, since they locked up all of the liquor It's not worth the hassle and the time it takes. Management must think they're gonna save a lot of money that way, and inconveniencing The customers appears to be of little concern. The main thing though is that they Never open a second checking stand and apparently have a policy of the single checker not looking to see how long the line is or calling for additional checkers. This Vons is fine and dandy. They just built a new Starbucks inside, which, looks nice. I've been pretty satisfied with the overall vibe of the place-which is legit for me to talk about when it comes to grocery stores. Decent produce-nice organic section. Easy to find stuff. Not overly huge. I have received good service every time I have shopped there. I typically use the self check out. And one time I purchased an orchid, then immediately broke the pot when I went out to my car, and when I brought it back in-they just gave me the second one free of charge. Public service announcement. Do not purchase any of your holiday needs from Vons. Their prices are outrageous! Example.. cranberry sauce vons ,2.99 a can must buy 4. Target 1.99 no limit. Butterball turkey 1.50 a pound at Vons. .89 cents a pound at target. Must do Aldi's, Walmart market, or Target. The employees are all so great management not so great. Save a lot by not purchasing at this store. If enough people stop supporting these corporations they will be forced to charge a decent price. This specific vons has a great bakery selection. There's a Vons closer to my home, yet if I need a quick last minute dessert for a birthday this is my go-to place. I've also ordered custom cakes with as little notice as two days. It's been a life saver for me. read more

This is a pretty solid Vons location. It is in a plaza and has a large amount of parking available which is a plus however there aren't a lot of spots for order pick up and buttheads always park in those spots for their normal shopping. The store itself is pretty large and has a huge variety available. I can always get everything I need for my weekly needs plus more. The staff is always friendly and helpful when I need them or when I am cashing out. The only negative to me is how expensive it is here, which is a huge negative. I normally do my shopping at Target because it has good prices and I am okay with less variety for better prices so then when I come here it is a shock. There have been times where an item is double the price than what I pay at target. I can't believe how high the prices are sometimes. There have for sure been times when I thought the price had to be wrong because it was so much more than I expected it to be. Overall, due to the prices I tend to stay away but when I need something I can't get at target or I need something quick it is a great place to run in and get it. read more

This is probably the first review I've done for a grocery store. Never thought I'd have to write one since grocery shopping is nothing fun to write about. We go grocery shopping once a week. 99% of the times employees are nice (at other stores) . I was in the area and decided to grab an item from the deli. Actually, there was a very nice man behind the deli with a Broncos mask. Who asked if I needed any help. Kudos to him. This store is actually well organized and clean, but one person can really turn your shopping experience sour and it seemed like I wasn't the only one who noticed. The customers before me and after noticed too. The cashier "Jessie" was rude. Not sure what was going on but she didn't acknowledge the customer. The customer before me did small talk asking her how HER day was. What time did the store closed etc. the cashier was NOT having it. I came along, no hello, nothing. I don't think she even noticed if I was a monkey or a human. Next customer, no hello nothing. He asks her how she's doing. Short answered. Seriously? I understand we all have bad days, but her behavior was ugly. Like I said the store can be a great one, but one bad encounter can ruin everything. So glad this is not my neighborhood grocery store. If I can give no stars I would. As a previous employer in the grocery outlet area. This would be the worst place ever. I understand the suspicion of having two or more people in the liqour isle for about maybe ten to fifteen minutes not being able to decide on things but IT ONE FUCKING THING TO feel watched as security is constantly walking around the same area. Vons destroyed my Thanksgiving I sent my son in to get a turkeys roasting bag. as you walk in Von set up a display of items to help roast your turkey in the front of the store, on the display was a bring bag. not knowing the what a brine bag is he got it. our 13 pound turkey was put in the bag and melted in our oven. yes we got the wrong bag, but why put a brine bag with items to roast a turkey and knows the difference. read more

The Floral Shop at this store is excellent. I purchased my valentine bouquet at this store and they were beautiful. The whole department was full and fresh. No helium?? I went to get my daughter some balloons for her birthday and they couldn't get the balloons I wanted cuz they were out of helium. How do you run out of helium? Did someone come in and order so many balloons that the tank ran out and you're waiting for a new one? Valentine's Day was two weeks ago so they should've had more helium by now. I had a choice between 2 dozen balloons that were already blown up and on the check stands. Why would they use all of their helium to blow up random balloons that may or may not sell? I wanted one happy birthday ballon and a dozen latex. Of course there were no latex balloons blown up already. So if I wanted a bouquet then I'd have to pay between $6-$15 per balloon cuz they were all Mylar. Unprofessional to run out of helium. Super disappointed since there are not a ton of places to buy a balloons. read more

Coming from the Midway Von's (which is possibly the worst Von's/Safeway store in their history) I found the staff at this store to be refreshingly helpful. I stopped by this Vons to pick up some cereal, flour tortillas, and some Eat Right frozen meals for work. My first impression when I walked was that this was a larger Vons than me neighborhood one. As I walked around and looked lost, one of the employees asked if I needed help, and he directed me towards the right direction. After I picked up my items, I went to check out their bakery. The ladies behind the counter were very friendly and helpful. I also went to the deli to see if they had any good deals and there too, the young girl asked if I needed help. Gee, the Vons down my street does not have this kind of customer service. The place was clean and well stocked. Everyone seemed very friendly and they had exactly what I needed on sale.
