The prices are a big high on produce but the quality is there. I come here once in a while because of the convenient location. This location is always clean, and staff is friendly. I have had a problem with their stock probably because the times I have gone were late at night before they closed. When i shop at Vons is because i am going for a super deal on shrimp or steaks. I also like their breads there always so fresh same goes for fruits and vegetables. I like that is also located in a shopping center so there's always parking , unless it's a holiday . Of all the times I've gone cashiers are very helpful , they have great customer service. Everything is always organized. Although prices are a bit high but i try my best to go when they have great sales since i like to save $$$. I wasn't there to buy anything. I just wanted to explain the experience I had with the Assistant Manager (KURT). So I had called earlier in the day yesterday to ask if he could help me out because I'm working on a project. He said over the phone, sure, but he wanted to see verification (ie a letterhead/school letter). And of course, I had that. I asked if there was an email I can send it through. He said something along the lines that they don't check email here, or something like that, but I could just it dropped off. I thought, that'll be great! So took me about 30 minutes to get down there. Met with Kurt no more than 10 seconds and I left. WHY? As I was showing him the school letter, Kurt conveniently just remembered that he couldn't help me out anymore and explained those details in one second, then handed me back the letter. WHAT AN A-HOLE!!!! Wasted an hour of my time and a gallon of gas. read more

The closest one to me is vons and after cruising through many stores this one really offers a good value and great service over all. Granted I still shop at other locations due to particular items they don't carry . My review is based on a mixture of 20 something times I have had a chance to visit the location. I am excited to be in a location that cares about me as a customer. There is a particular associate who knows me by name now. His name is Jose. He works in the hot food section but has helped me out multiple times through out the store. I consider myself a good cook and love to try new meals. Sometimes I'm looking for ingredients I've never used before. One time it was a particular cheese . Jose came and asked me if I needed help. I said yes and explained my problem. He showed me to the gourmet section and I found what I was looking for. He's very friendly and goes out of his way , sometimes leaving the hot foods, to help me find the items I need. Great guy! I suggest you visit him! With that there are a couple of items I can only find at a Hispanic groceries store. Other than that they truly do have a large selection of things. The location is great. The shopping center is great I can stop at all the stores near by and have everything I need for a party or and event I'm hosting. The cool thing about vons for me is their Friday fives. Items for just five dollars in Friday's. I also enjoy the club card to earn points even on gas . A great trick is using the app. It lets you use sales and coupons not available in the store . I'm really satisfied with the outcome of our cake that we ordered. It was for my daughters bday and well, we wanted something small and local since we would be heading out to a party later that evening. The store itself is small compared to other Vons I've been too. The Parking is in and out. Since the store is small, well, you will have to deal with crowded check out lines but, it is a supermarket so be prepared to spend some time within the store. Secnond to last time I went they didn't put my bagels in the bag even though there was plenty of space left. Didn't find out my bagels were missing till I got home 15 miles away. Oh well chalked it up to an honest mistake. Last time I went my groceries came out to 10.15 I paid with a twenty and didn't realize I was only given 4.85 back in change till the next day. Too late to complain. Wether these things were done intentional or just severe carelessness I don't know. But I'm not shopping here anymore. read more

I wanted to buy a cake, but needed to have writing on it. There was a girl in the back of the kitchen, she asked what I needed, I asked her if they do writing in cakes, she said they do but that unfortunately the staff that takes care of that we're gone for the day. In comes in a girl with long hair coughing up a storm, to which the counter attendant I was speaking to asked if she could decorate the cake for me. After I saw walk in coughing as she was I thought "thanks but no thanks". Her response was "if she wants to wait 10 minutes because I don't clock in until then". I love the chocolate chip muffins at Vons. They are fresh and delicious. I have one problem with the bakery dept at the Vons in Montebello, their service sucks!!! I usually arrive at about 7:30 am hoping they will have their fresh muffins out , most of the time they don't. Sometimes they have the prepackaged muffins but they are not the same as the ones they freshly bake. I can't seem to understand why a company like Vons can't deliver their product on a timely basis. Several times I'll ask the staff if and when will the muffins be available, most of the time they don't know?? Some are rude and unapologetic when I ask " isn't there a time they need to have the product out and ready " . Today I arrived and the muffins were not available. After waiting patiently for one of the staff members I was told it will be about another hour! It was 7:30 am , doesn't a bakery supposed to have their product early in the morning. Who buys muffins at 12 noon, it's the morning when people buy pastries, bagels, donuts & muffins!!! The staff at this location has no sense of urgency or appreciation for its customers. I have been going to this Vons since it was Safeway. Yeah, I'm that old! Anyhow, I have to say that I liked this Vons better before the remodel. It looks nicer but I don't like how dark it is now. Nor do I care for the odd customer service kiosk in the middle of the registers. I will give them that they have a nice selection of alcohol. But come on, you're in Montebello. They do have a nice selection of baked goods here too. The one thing I absolutely abhor about this place now is the soda aisle. It feels like it's smaller than the other aisles, which all appeared to get closer together. They made it narrower and put racks up high. I feel like the guys from In Living Color... "Hated it!" This is a typical Vons except the employees are fantastic! Many recognize me after only a few visits. This Vons was renovated recently, and it's so much nicer inside than it used to be. While it was under construction, I really missed seeing the friendly employees when shopping. They're all very helpful and courteous! read more

This place was remodeled a few years back and looks great for a super market in Montebello. But, then Mr. Albertsons got jealous and decided to remodel too, and well he looks better. But, Vons has a calmer atmosphere and sweet workers. Most of them have been working their for years, so everyone is familiar. read more

This is the BEST Von's in town. We have been shopping here since we moved to Montebello early 2018. SAL is my favorite person to see. I miss him when he is not there. SAL is a true Diamond here at Von's. He is always pleasant and very helpful and patient. He is a very kind individual with a big heart, especially when my mother died April 2019 he always asked how I was doing. SAL you Rock !! Von's is Blessed to have you. There are many great people at this location. I'm satisfied most times I visit unless an item is unavailable at the time. Every time I come to this store I find myself waiting a life time in any sort of line. Today, i came in for a money order the one and only person able to help me was unavailable. If I wanted to wait, i had to wait 30 minutes because she was on a "conference call". There is no excuse for having to wait that long. The customer service is the greatest thing of VONS. Produce is always oh so fresh and so are the delicious desserts. My favorite desserts from VONS are the cheesecake and eclairs. If you plan on eating spaghetti for dinner I highly recommend buying the garlic bread from this bakery. Alcohol selection is surprisingly pretty good. read more

Stars are for friendly cashiers and stockers, and yummy in-house baked goods. Everything here is overpriced. Even on special. Today their mangoes were on sale 2 for 5.00. I didn't need mangoes or anything, but 2.50 for a mango is not a deal. ALSO, this was super gross: even with two stockers walking around the small produce section, my eye was caught by a tomato in one of those plastic clamshell cases that was almost half gray with fuzzy mold! Gross! I would love to know why no one had seen or done anything about that. A lot of other fruits look just kind of tired and limp. Makes me not trust their produce at all. I usually have good experiences at the checkout, though once I held up the line because an item I was trying to purchase wasn't in the computer. The cashier had to send the bagger to the aisle to bring the tag. I avoid this Vons except when I don't have a better option, or I need a great loaf of french bread, which they do have. read more

I am here often because it's small and convenient. At the end of the day I can be in and out in 10 minutes. But more often than not I grab a food item and it's expired. I've been shopping here for years and it still happens and I always make sure to let staff know. Tonight the yogurt I was going to buy was 5 days past expired.....all of it was. Obviously they have virtually the same selection as every other Vons but for whatever reason the staff is is extremely unhelpful and uncaring. Every time I ask if they carry something I'm told whatever is out there is what we have. I'm sorry you don't know if you carry an entire selection of foods? Maybe a certain product I could understand. This woman in particular has me waiting almost ten minutes to finish something up and text some people before waking me off with the if it's not out there we don't have it comment. A second time I asked for help finding something I was told it's on either this aisle or that aisle. He proceeded back to his phone and didn't acknowledge my thank you. I've even gotten an, "I'm not sure if we do sorry." It's as if the customer service section of their handbook was replaced with a chapter entitled how to be a proficient texter. The lines here are down the aisles every time I'm here because the ones texting are too busy to open another register. Heaven forbid they miss a Facebook post or an email. If you're in a rush or don't have tolerance for an unprofessional workplace go somewhere else. If you don't mind waiting, being ignored, and being otherwise treated poorly then they do have the food your looking for. Don't bother asking for help though. I'm very disappointed and upset at how my cake order was handled. I ordered what was on a photo in the catalog, which should have been easy. I clearly told the guy what wording I wanted on the cake and when I picked it up the decoration was so crooked and sloppy, it was like I made it myself. It looked like an amateur decorated it. The football was sloppy and so were all the lines and numbers. The writing was worse! They didn't fit it so they scrunched up the words at the end! The lettering wasn't even the color I chose! If you have a lot of time to kill, or want to just stand around aimlessly for hours, then this is your kind of place. They have signs that say: 3's a crowd and we'll open another cashier! I came to this vons, because I had a gift card. I bought the items I needed to make the cupcakes for my sister's wedding. I got to the checkstand, they rang me up, I gave the cashier the gift card, and wasn't going through. So, for a moment I thought I was going to leave the groceries behind but Marisol saved the day for me! She went above and beyond to help with the situation. She started looking for a manual for store procedures, she called someone on the phone for a way to help me out. She was able to help and and I'm so grateful. This store turns off the perimeter lights on hot days in the name of energy conservation. The lights over the higher margin processed food are left on.
