This is the most understaffed vons in the world! Thought I'd give it a second chance after the first visit of waiting in line with only two checkers. Upon returning only to find the same problem with two lines backed up to the door. Don't ever visit after 7pm unless you have an extra 1/2 hour to spend. It seems like customer service only comes from the cashiers and even then sometimes its not professional. HOWEVER I HAD TO MAKE A REVIEW TODAY....TONY was our cashier and he was awesome. He was kind and professional. NONE THE LESS let me know I could use my safeway card since I left my vons card at home. HAD I KNOWN THAT I WOULDN"T HAVE SIGNED UP FOR A VONS CARD. He apologized for the rude person who I even signed up with. She had ran the card and told me to go online and enroll and that was it. BLAH. Well Tony again was kind and professional. If you go to this Vons from 4pm-6pm it will be a mad house full of people fresh off of work and now that the Albertsons has been closed for a couple months it is even more crazier!! I try to go early in the morning or late at night but even if u go real late at night they only have one register open and sometimes a line builds up.. She was rude, condescending and made the entire experience rather humiliating. We were using WiC checks and from the moment she saw this she was extremely unfriendly and even treated her bagger poorly. She kept asking if we were planning to pay the difference as if she expected us to not have money. It was very offensive. Smaller location, always crazy busy, and there are never enough cashiers. The long lines make you awkwardly spill out into the main aisle.

This store is 1 mile from my house, Ralphs is 3 miles, but from now on Ralphs gets my business here is why. The store condition is old, the isle spacing is too narrow, you can barely pass two shopping carts. The produce is a complete rip off, especially when there is a produce store like 1/4 mile from this store with the same vegetables at 1/4 the price of Vons. I have been shopping at Vons for roughly 17 years now, (since 1995, wow). This was my last trip. I was charged by a supervisor twice for some stevia sugar. I bought some gelatin which was mislabeled and that ended up costing me like 9.99 instead of the 4.39 it was advertised for. So I only bought like 30 bucks total in stuff but you messed it up twice, charging me twice on some 5 dollar items. You raised my bill by 35% on this small stuff. I cant imagine the shed you would take me to for a whole shopping cart full of stuff. There are no self check out lines, so you have to just wait for the one cashier who is operating the "express" line to get it together and serve the 10 people in front of you. Every single time I go in this store there are long lines, its just complete BS. Last thing, what is with the scummy ass bum who sits right outside the store every single day, all day? Store manager, walk your ass out there and tell him to piss off. He stinks like shit and doesnt belong there. I will give you guys 2 weeks to respond to this post and make things right. read more

Ok, I'm a girl so I don't shop here for the pretty girls like everyone else, apparently. I shop here because of selection. The staff here is pleasant and helpful and I always manage to find what I need. The place is kept relatively clean. It's quiet not so busy store for the most part (expect busy times to be after 5pm weekdays as you are close to businesses here). This VONS is pretty average by comparison. Parking is available but because it's shared with other businesses it does get packed from time to time. read more

I often times go to this Vons because it's right next to the hospital I work at. I usually go there to get their chicken on my lunch break, because their chicken is fenomenal. However, they have DREADFUL customer service. The people in there don't care about getting their customers out of there in a timely manner at all. They just take their sweet time, and when it's busy in there, there are registers that are closed. People in there just don't care, I've had a cashier just walk away from the register while there was a big line waiting, and he stayed gone for like 5 minutes. I mean come on! read more

These guys are so busy since Albertsons closed. They have a small lot with tight parking. I really like the prices and selection, but the crowds can be harsh. More than once I have seen every checkstand open, and lines down the aisles. Good bakery, deli, and produce. read more

Such horrible customer service here. After today, I've officially decided to stop giving my money to Vons. I approach the cashier, Denise, and she had the worst attitude. She didn't say hello or acknowledge me until after I started bagging my own groceries and look her in the eye and say hello. She then starts aggressively throwing the food down the aisle towards me and my eggs flip open and break. She says oops, someone will get you another one, but after she's done ringing and I've bagged all my groceries, which isn't a problem... unless you're being totally hostile and not even offering to assist and you work here, she tells me that someone can't get my eggs. I asked her to take them off the total and she laughs and says well you already paid. I just walked off got my eggs and will never be back. The store itself gets 1 star. I have been to waaaayyyyy better Vons stores. Between the horrible customer service and the unprofessionalism of the staff I just wanted to leave. The reason I give it 3 stars is because if it wasn't for this employee, I am pretty sure his name is Jesus, I would have never returned. He was so nice helping me find something when he walked by me. He was way too mice to be working at such a bad store. I really hope that Vons will see the good employees and give them more recognition. Again another let down.came to take advantage of the del Mar fair passes for the weekend. Employee said they don't sell them. I told them they have a sign outside advertising them. I have been shopping at this Vons for 18 years. The store is clean and they do a great job keeping the shelves stocked. I have had good success with freshness in every dept. They have a wonderful deli and Amy makes the best sandwiches ever at this location. Customer service is always good. Thats important to me. There were ample checkers with my trip tonight and the store was very busy but the lines moved quickly. I was shopping at the dinner hour so it was busy at the deli with their $5 friday baked chicken. Thank you for the great service. Always plenty of people to answer questions. read more

I love this vons! Fred the cashier that works at night is the best! We love him! Every time I go and there is a long line and people are irritated, after they talk to Fred leave happy and didn't even mind waiting in line. I'm a regular customer who comes in almost everyday. I must warn you all that there is a supervisor who seems to never be nice to anyone, even her staff. Every time we are in the line with her handling the register, she never says "hello" or ask us how we are doing. My boyfriend & I tend to keep things short wit her because she always has a bitter face when we approach her. We have witnessed her speak to her employees as if they were children in front of customers. It's UNPROFESSIONAL & DISGUSTING. This is the worst Vons I have ever been to. The deli counter is always not stocked. Every time I go in for chicken tenders they are either completely out of stock or have to make more (7 min from time the drop it in the fryer) but most of the time they just don't have any because "the new manager is an idiot and doesn't know how to order anything" according to 2 of the deli associates. The deli associates are always chit chatting in the back and take their sweet time coming up to help any customers. The milk they sell a lot of the time is either already expired or going to expire in the next day or so. Most of the "cashiers" have horrible attitudes and the "baggers" love to smash you breads/ fruits/ you name it. If it can be smashed they will make sure the job is done. I wish there were another store closer in the area. I might have to start shopping at Ralph's now even though it's further from my house. read more

Ohhhh..."Supervisor" Julio. Where do I begin? When a customer says, "Hi. How are you doing? ", traditionally a human being responds with a similar greeting. Not a blank stare and a grunt. Then, when your customer says thanks, and said customer's well mannered kid says "have a nice day", it is again customary to respond in kind. You work in probably the worst Vons in San Diego, due mainly to its lack of size. However, when you act like a jerk, it only makes those long days of dragging bar codes across a scanner worse. Unfortunately, your lame Vons doesn't have self check, so I'm sure there will be plenty more people treated to your infectious personality. read more

Regarding Vons... When my wife left the store yesterday morning she forgot an 8 pack of Viva paper towels under her cart. She was too frazzled to call so I called and I spoke with a woman who said her name was Christina. After checking she said that a customer had found the paper towels and returned them to the store. I gave her my wife's name and asked if it was okay for them to mark her name on it and keep it in the customer service area. I also told her that she wouldn't be in for them until well after 6 pm. No problem! I was told...consider it done! So, around 7 my wife walks in and guess what???? No 8 pack of Viva was placed in the customer service area. In fact, there was no entry in the log that traces when people call for anything left behind. Interesting.... my guess is that the manager put two and two together and figured she would try to screw us. Thanks for the night manager who was so professional and so kind. I think she should be promoted and given Trisha's job. But what do I know? I'm just a former customer. read more

This has to be the worse Von's in San Diego. The lines are long because they won't open new stations even when the waiting line is so long you cannot pass in the main aisle. It can take 10 minutes just to buy a gallon of milk which could be improved by one set of self-checkout stations. I have also noticed that the food choices have reduced since the closing of Albertson's. Things I could buy there 6 months ago are now no longer available. It appears that they have concluded that we are a captive group with no other choice. I have decided to improve my shopping list and take my business elsewhere. This has to be the worst Vons in San Diego. I've lived in a few different neighborhoods here and have had good experiences at other Vons stores, but this one - what's gone wrong?! I moved to the area 1 year ago and I WANT to love this store as it's the most convenient but falls short nearly every. time. Lines as long as the DMV, hardly ever any organic meat selections, unhelpul staff (if you can ever find one), and I can't tell you how many times I've had to throw away it's product once I've gotten home because it's bad! I probably thrown away over $100 worth of groceries - money I'll never see again all for not. The shrimp last week I got straight from the counter smelled so bad I was without an appetizer for my dinner party and just tonight I tossed a lettuce head I grabbed in a hurry becuase it's as limp as... well I'm not gonna go there, but it's bad! And can we please stop with the bags! No, I don't need a bag for my Trident gum. Please save a landfill - and my sanity. Looks like I'll be trekking back to my old neighborhoods to get decent groceries. SO frustrating!!! read more

I like this branch of Vons because it is open 24 hours and the deli clerk Justin is very polite and helpful. He provided spot on suggestions on which meat would make for a great sandwich when I was overwhelmed by the selections. Primo Taglio ham was really good and became my fave ever since:) thanks Justin!
