How does Von's not have self check out? I usually go to Ralph's for this very reason. Example: today I needed a sack of potatoes. Ralph's was out. (How a store runs out of potatoes is beyond me, but whatever. I'm here to review Von's, not Ralph's.) The Von's is across the street, so I go there. And then wait behind one of three lines, each with a minimum of three people waiting. (It's always slow and undermanned in this store!) And, given the number of people checking out, there's no sense of urgency by the checkers at all. I like to think I'm not THAT much of an impatient type, but, seriously, this example I just gave can pretty much describe every trip I've made to that store. (which, if the prices matched Ralph's or were lower, it'd be a decent trade-off, but nope. Von's is almost always more expensive.) Three words, Von's: Self, check and out. read more

Dawna and Michele the cashiers have been one of the reasons I continue going to this Von's. I go here because of the personalized treatment and excellent customer service! Dawna always remembers me and greets me by name - she makes me feel like a friend rather than a customer. Many grocery stores you experience rude cashiers and it really puts a damper on the grocery "experience" if you could say that.... Dawna and Michele always make me have a good visit to the grocery store! Michele is just all around friendly and helpful when need be. This review is based on my experience with the bakery. I would not recommend ordering anything from here! I came in to Order gender reveal cupcakes. I first made sure they did gender reveal cupcakes and that my order could be fulfilled for the next day. Both yes, the girl told me they don't bake their cupcakes they come frozen so they only need to decorate- I wasn't thrilled about frozen cupcakes but was happy they could do my request. I just wanted the inside to reveal the gender with the a colored filling. The girl said they could core the frozen cupcakes and fill with filling. Seemed easy enough. WELL apparently it's not. I got a call at about 2 pm- 4 hours before I was scheduled to pick them up. They said they could not fulfill my order as they did not have the tool to core the cupcakes. She said she looked in the stores bakery isle after I placed my order and the store didn't carry the tool either... hold on she knew the day before? YES! but still waited till hours before my party to tell me. So I was left with no alternate solution from the Vons bakery and it was WAY to late to try another bakery. I ended up having to make my own cupcakes. I'm not a baker and I was able to core cupcakes. read more

My most frequented grocery store in Thousand Oaks. It's located in the Park Oaks shopping center with The Dollar Tree, Starbucks, Little Caesar's, Panda Express and other stores. Compared to Ralphs, I prefer the selection at Vons and its price also beats Whole Foods. It's a nice community place. read more

This Vons has survived several franchise changes over decades - it's now a great store. While not my wive's favorite chain, it's a great place to fill in the rest of our needs and also handy when on the wrong side of the street to get to other places. While lightly staffed the service is great when you get to them. Prices are very competitive and quality very good - wife thinks others might have better meat, but I can't tell as I like it all if prepared correctly. The produce is fresh and the store bright and Starbucks coffee inside so you can wake up and smell the roses - yes they even have roses there !!! read more

Great produce, but it's always such a hassle to check out. There are always long lines and today (Saturday at 10:00 am) no Express Line open. I had two containers of fruit and had to wait behind two people shopping for the week. it's time to try Ralph's across the street....they have a self check out. read more

Thank you Vons. In an ever growing community of dogs going everywhere with everyone Vons made the right decision to remove a dog from their store. Before you start hating on me and this review, understand I am an animal lover and have three dogs and a cat at home. I believe it is inappropriate to have "pets" in any food establishment. You never know what reaction an animal will have towards someone at any given time. As this "pet" was not a service animal the owner was asked to remove it and he did so. I can't say the same for Ralph's across the street as they let any and all dogs in their store. I understand the need for service animals being allowed with their owners as they help them with their lives. read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced at a grocery store. Now maybe I'm spoiled because I typically do my food shopping at Trader Joe's. TJs has an unmatched customer service reputation. However, sometimes I find myself and Vons to get unique dinner items for myself and my boyfriend. No more. All but one of the cashiers is rude, lazy, and condescending. I didn't know I was supposed to swipe my Vons card through the credit card machine so I handed it to the cashier. She said "and what? " as though this was a major inconvenience to her. I've also been in the express lane and heard a cashier tell another customer that she can go to the other side of the store to get the item she forgot because "these people can wait". So much for express. Also I can never find anyone to help me find something and the employees I do see are busy chatting about their kids, vacations, etc. I could go on and on about past bad experiences, but I won't take up your entire day. I always try to give a business several tries before giving a bad review. I have given this store numerous chances and I am finished. The worst part is that the manager Christian has no empathy or sympathy towards his customers. But one good thing has come of this. Trader Joe's and Ralphs will get more of my money as a result. read more

I was in earlier today, and as I went through check stand #4 on the pin pad there was a hand written note (presumably by the cashier) that read "USE PEN" underlined 4 times. Do you know what that says to the customer? It's rude!!! First of all in this day and age, we all know we have to use the pen that is attached to the pin pad. Don't assume that we are idiots. Go yell at someone else with your hand written notes. I couldn't use the pin pad because of the hand written note, it was in the way of trying to put my pin in. Tear a page out of the rule book of the grocery store that just opened up next door to you on customer service. Don't write me a rude note again! read more

This Vons just makes me shake my head. It's my husbands birthday tomorrow and I bought a pack of cheap balloons myself off AMAZON. I asked the guy at the flower area if they could fill them up for me there. He said yeah and that they'd charge me to fill them up. Okay that's fine, as expected right? WELL NO! AFTER spending $200 dollars in groceries.. need I say these balloons were not even $10 dollars off Amazon..Small cheap balloons to go with the gaming system I got my husband. Wellll I finished checking out my groceries and went to get my balloons and the guy(says he's a manager) rings me up for $51 dollars.. $5.99 a piece. FOR A SQUIRT Of HELIUM. FOR the littlest kiddy balloons I didn't even buy at vons! Just for the stinkin air to go in them! He told me helium is expensive.. dude I could have bought my own helium tank for that much and then some! I'm not sure if he is trying to make some commission or something but talk about completely absurd. He had also already blown up my balloons while I told him I would be right back to pay for my groceries first. My husband went in today to pick my Rx and my husband suffers from severe heart disease and was very winded by the time he got to the pharmacy counter. Rather than asking him if he was ok, Craig the pharmacist, yelled at him and told him to go sit down after my husband had told them he just needed a minute to catch his breath. The cashiers are mostly very nice. They never have baggers. My issue is with the seafood and meat department in the back. It always smells like rotting fish. Always. I literally can't go in the back of the store at all because the smell makes me sick. So I can buy things just fine from the front of the store, but lord help me if the groceries I need are toward the back, I literally have to drive to another store. read more

This store has the worst management team ever. A bunch of blue shirts and non of them seem to want to help out when they obviously see lines. They pretend they don't see the lines getting out of control; while they walk back and forth from their front office. This was my experience from just yesterday! Today, I experienced something way unexpected there was a manager in the front telling the cashier she had lines and she should call for someone to start checking. Why don't you help out? Sadly, I did not get the managers name, but the management team needs help here. This review is for the Vons Customer Service and Delivery Issue Line at 877-505-4040. I wish I could leave zero stars because that is how unprofessional they are. I have used Vons for grocery delivery for about three years. One day, my order was never delivered. I called to complain and first they said I did not place an order. When I said I got an order confirmation, I was told there was a problem with my credit card. They refused to take a new credit card and replace my order. I cancelled the order. For the past week I have been trying to upgrade my credit card information and my delivery address and the computer system will not allow it. The "Customer Service Representatives" who answer the phones state they cannot change my information and they are not allowed to transfer me to a manager. I have left four messages for management with no response. I am no longer a Vons Market customer. And the worst part is "Customer Service" could not care less. I will take my business somewhere else and I hope you will too. read more

I got 2 orders of sandwiches and 2 orders of pinwheels here for a memorial service. They were awful. Both types. Dry and flavorless. I had asked for Italian dressing for the sandwiches, but it was not included. The meats they used seemed like very poor quality. Most assuredly not Boar's head. I was embarrassed to have served them. I can't emphasize enough about how bad the food was. Not to mention it was not cheap. I spent about $160. In addition to all of this, the food was not ready at the time agreed upon. We had to wait a considerable length of time which made us late. I even called early in the morning to confirm the order. This is the last time I will ever use Von's again. Great Vons. Come here all the time over Ralph's now. Having the Chevron rewards is a great plus. They also have a Starbucks and US Bank inside. It's clean, good products, but the lines get too long and they don't keep all registers open. read more

I got salmon from the butcher and Bill only uses one glove(please use two gloves Bill!!!)He ended up touching the salmon with his bare hand. Can someone working here please explain to him how bacteria spreads by touching raw meat with ones hands? I'm so grossed out. I went in on a Sunday morning before 10. 4 simple items turned into a 25 minute ordeal because of slow checkers and not enough checkers. Had 4 people in front of me with 1-4 items each and had to wait 15 minutes. The teller was slow and talking to the bagger the whole time. When it was finally my turn, the checker forgot to ring up the discount sticker and wanted me to wait longer. Sorry another 15 minutes for me to correct your mistake for $1.50 isn't worth my time. Only giving the 3 stars because of Dawna. She's super sweet and is a great cashier. But every other area I go to in the store sucks. I come here on my break and usually get 1lb of the jo jo hot potatoes and it's always such a hassle. For instance, I just ordered a pound and the lady helping me repeated it back to me and I said yes but she only got me .76 of a lb. not a huge deal obviously because it's just potatoes but wish the service would improve. read more

Just left this Vons store, the employee in the vons are not very polite, just look at you the wrong way. After buying the 2 things that I needed in about 3mins being in the store I went to Starbucks and I can say this Starbucks needs an upgrade they don't have access to the app to reload money, the service is horrible, Luis was the barista today I've never had such a bad service, he told me "wherever you come from..." what does that mean ?
