Vovina is a great wine bar not far from the lake. It is a little bit hidden, but worth finding. The seats are very comfortable and it is a great atmosphere to kind of relax. Service was excellent. It is no surprise that the wine choices are excellent. The server recommended a glass of Fidelitas and I ended up getting the bottle it was so good. The menu was also good and I decided on the clams. These were really good with an excellent broth. I also loved the bread that was included. Vovina is definitely worth a visit. read more

My partner and I have been wanting to try out this place for over a year. We were finally able to and we were so excited. However, the bald white bartender was extremely rude for absolutely no reason. He started to be extremely aggressive with my partner out of no where and gave him attitude. My sister had a going away party tonight at flat stick pub and I'm allergic to gluten so I tried to go across the hall to vovina to get a cocktail and the lady bartender covered in tattoos refused to give me a cocktail bc my pupils are dilated from not drinking beer across the hall at the other bar. So I will not be going there again. Lord forbid someone tries to enjoy their Saturday night and tries to order a few cocktails at A BAR since the party they are at for the night across the hall is a gluten beverage pub. I really like this place, cool vibe, the food, the drinks; it's a great place to relax or just hang out with some friends, and I've had a great time in the past We got a seat outside, our server (never told us her name, but had red hair) was likely overworked with a large section, I get it; I bartended for 10 years and generally dislike criticizing wait staff, but I've never felt so purposefully ignored and slighted while dining out. We got there at 5:50 and the cocktail server pointed us to a table near the fire pit table, downloaded the menu and they brought us water, then were ignored until I went up to ask if we could order drinks and food at 6:20, they said no they lost their internet so they could not order food anymore. Then came right next to us 5 minutes later and took food orders from the 2 tables right next to us, and just ignored us for another 20 minutes. I went back in to ask the other bartender if we could order food now as other tables clearly are, and they said they'd send who was watching our section to take our order, they finally came over 15 minutes after that. Took 30 minutes to order drinks, and about an hour to order food and that is not even an exaggeration. 5:50 to 6:20 to order drinks 5:50 to 6:50 to order food No apology, no acknowledgement, no nothing and then slapped on a gratuity for 2 people that's not even posted on their menu. I'd of tipped anyway, some of the worst service I've ever experienced. All in all, felt like the server felt overworked, decided to tell us that their PoS system wouldn't function with only food orders; didn't feel like verballing anything and just decided to ignore us instead; felt lied to, ripped off and probably won't go back. read more

We'll definitely be coming back. This place a quaint outdoor patio facing the water. Everyone was super friendly and even brought their dogs by to say hello. The inside is very lounge-like. We were in a "talk to the bar tender" kind of mood and almost sat at the bar until we saw how nice it was outside. The cocktails are so worth it. I ordered the Jalapeno (less sweet) and what came out was my mother's Indian cilantro chutney spiked with vodka. SO SO yummy and went down way too quickly! Beware, they pour doubles... My husband got the Pear Necessity. I was expected it to be sweet with some sage in it and boy was I wrong! Perfectly balanced, light and definitely got the hint of sage! What goes well after a long day at the office? A martini flight on the Kirkland waterfront is one good option! Riss and I had a little catch-up "date" several weeks ago, and she suggested that we meet up at VoVina. Good choice! The waiter/bartender was really nice the whole time, and checked on us often. I was having a hard time choosing just one drink to try and was sadly not interested in anything on the food menu, so I decided to go for the martini flight. I was VERY happy with my choice! The drinks didn't seem very strong (which was not the case for the regular sized martini?), but I got to try three smaller-than-normal (delicious!) martinis and I liked being able to sip, finish, and move on to my next drink (while chatting away) without having to order anything new. Good place to meet up with a friend or a few for drinks... and maybe bites. I didn't have any of their food, so I'm not sure if they do a good/great job with it. read more

Vovina is a smaller intimate-feeling place located right across from Flatstick Pub. It is more of a lounge on the inside with couches and an outdoor patio as well. We stood at the entrance for a while until someone told us to seat ourselves. Service was kind of slow after we got seated as there was only one waitress for the whole restaurant (water please!). The staff were very friendly though and helpful. We got the Chocolatini and the Thai One On drinks. The Chocolatini tasted primarily like milk, but wasn't bad. The Thai One On was very gingery and we could not finish the drink as it didn't taste great (they didn't charge us for it, which was nice). We then ordered the rangoons, which were incredible! It was my first time trying them and I loved every bite! I wanted more - very impressive. I will definitely be back here. I want to try more food and some of their other various cocktails. We got ourselves some healing crystals basically next door to this restaurant and swung in for a drink (or two) with some bites. Get the tots (Truffle Tots). And you're welcome. Seriously. Vovina is an aesthetically appealing 'adult bar' nestled in the bottom level of shops near the Kirkland Park Marina. An older crowd than the Millennials next door at Flatstick Pub. Vovina offers a sophisticated ambiance - warm, deep tones of colors with low lightening to create a cozy, comfortable mood. Not a large establishment, but the furniture seemed fitting for the space. Low, hand-crafted wood tables, booth backs and padded stools are laid out to provide patrons with individual nooks. We chose ours by the gas lit fireplace. The bar features top shelf as well as old school crafted cocktails. We ordered a Bees Knees (a few more as the evening went on) and a glass of red wine. I couldn't decide if I wanted a glass of Merlot or Syrah, so our server explained both bouquets and offered to bring me a sample of each wine to make my final choice. A very nice gesture! Ultimately, I chose the Merlot - the Syrah was a little too fruity for my taste. We also ordered a charcuterie platter. Meats and cheese along with crackers, pepper jam, dried apricots, sweet gerkins, sliced apples, grapes and pistachio nuts. I personally would have preferred more meat and cheese for $19.50, I can only assume they were stretching out the platter value. Be that as it may, it was indeed a beautifully appointed platter to share. I experienced Vovina with a gal pal, but this could easily be a great place for a couple date night. Small and intimate. We stayed for a few hours and the customers came and went as the hours waned. Not too busy for a Saturday night, but just enough of a crowd to enjoy that you're out for the evening. There are wrought iron tables with umbrellas in front of the restaurant on the sidewalk. I'm sure the outdoor enclosed patio will be a fast paced place once the weather gets warmer. 4-hour parking available directly in the lot, pay at the designated machines. Staff and servers were very attentive and courteous. We always felt taken care of and never had an empty cocktail or water glass on the table. I was just a little underwhelmed with the food options- the ideas and dishes sound great but the ingredients seem a little lack-luster for me. Happy hour tends to get pretty busy, and if you aren't seated at the bar, the staff doesn't really respond well and pick up the pace for the crowds. We had to wait 20 minutes after we were finished with our first round before the server approached us again. I have been during more "off" hours and had amazing service, while seated at the bar, so I think its a little hit and miss. The absinthe selection is pretty impressive which = points in my book. What strikes me is that several are about customer service. Who is "her?" It's brought up a lot and one wants to think if "her" is the issue not the customer. Stopped by for a craft cocktail on a late summer Friday evening... and I was not disappointed. The place was about half full, so I easily snagged a couple chairs at the small bar. Several of the drinks listed on the menu sounded really tasty so I had a hard time choosing just one. I ended up going with a gin based drink, and it was great! Refreshing and not too sweet, with a decent amount of alcohol (just how I like my cocktails hehe). The atmosphere is alright, nothing special but not a dive by any means, and the prices are fair given the location and the yummy drinks. This bar is always known to have long lines even during covid. It has a relaxed and cozy atmosphere, perfect for a casual night out. They are requiring masks when you enter but once you are seated you are free to unmask. They have outdoor and indoor seating available, with outdoor heaters available against the windows of the restaurant. I have been here twice and the service was not friendly or welcoming , which Is understandable as the summer comes and they are trying to move customers. However, this time the service rubbed me the wrong way. When my group of 4 arrived they told us we could sit outdoor using the two table available. We ended up having half our group sitting at one table and the other half on their red wooden lounge chair. They asked us to not move any furniture outside. It started to rain a bit so we opened the table umbrella, mind you we scooted our seats and table an inch to get under the umbrella cover. The waiter came over to reiterate to us not to move anything and had zero understanding to why we would want to MOVE our chairs to fit under an umbrella. The attitude was not appreciated. There was another instance during the night where a different waiter was gave me a dirty look when I shared a seat next to a friend in the wooden lawn chair for 5 seconds. Of course I will not be sitting there the whole time and I understand they didn't want to see me accidentally break the chair ( I get that) but is it necessary for the server to come over and ask me to find my seat with a very dirty look on his face? I want to think he just had a bad day. Drink wise it was fine, no complaints there and I could see how people would want to come to have happy hour drinks. This is easily the best bar lounge on the east side. Breidiee Kelli, and Sara have been keeping the downtown Kirkland area together since the beginning of the pandemic. Immediately my wife and I felt welcome. Drinks are high end and reasonably priced. Food is amazing (Kelli is a hidden secret). This establishment is quintessential Kirkland waterfront. Two of us were looking for a place to enjoy a drink and chill. They offer a variety of cocktails, wines, and appetizers. I had the best beef skewers, marinated to perfection tender, and a nice amount of spiciness served with pickled vegetables. Flatbread had a nice twist with horseradish sauce. The seating area inside has low tables and comfortable sofas. There are several seats and bar stools outside as well. I think the place is suitable for a small group of 2-3 to lounge around. Some of the appetizers on the menu, like charcuterie, are for 3-4 people to share, and it was too much for two. I wish we could order smaller sizes so that we could try several different items. They may have done that if we asked, but it was Octoberfest weekend, and they were efficient despite they were busy so we didn't want to burden them. read more

I found my go to cocktail bar in my neighborhood! My fiance and I went here for a date night and we were thrilled to find a bar that serves affordable, delicious cocktails. He ordered the Sazerac and Vieux Carre (both very classic drinks) and I ordered dealer's choice, which is always a fun time. Dealer's choice for that night was a tequila based drink with bubbles, pomegranate juice, and jalapenos. It was delicious, refreshing, and spicy! We also ordered food- i had a burger (no bun- trying to be better at eating less carbs) and it was great! It came topped with sauteed mushrooms and cheese. My partner ordered the salmon sliders with dill and avocado. He liked the sliders, which is saying a lot because he doesn't normally like cooked salmon. We also split the truffle fries, which was probably my favorite thing that night! In terms of ambiance- very chill, cozy place. Perfect venue for a date night. There is a fireplace in the corner which I'm sure will be nice when the weather gets colder. My partner and I are definitely going to be regulars here.
