Once upon a time, this location used to be the Steven Robert Salon, which, when it opened was quite the happening scene. I'm totally dating myself by saying that because I got my hair done for my Bat Mitzvah there...well over a decade ago. Anyway, my hair is in a perpetual state of mess- it's long, thin, dry, frizzy, and disgusting to say the least, so when it comes to things like a simple blowout, I get nervous. Not wanting to spend your standard $40-60 on such a simple procedure, my mom recommended I go to Le Salon. She went a few months ago to get her hair done for a wedding and loved the results at the beautiful price of...$25! The morning of my graduation party I already stubbornly made an appointment for a blowout at a different salon, but when my mom recommended this one, I dialed immediately. George, the owner, answered and he was very accommodating for my last minute needs. I walked in to the same salon I frequented years ago and everything looked the same (it was always a nice place, and it still is), except upstairs is a boutique (I didn't check it out so I can't comment on it, but it seems they have some nice handbags up there). After getting shampooed, Gladys did my hair. I told her my long list of hair problems and showed her a few pictures of blowouts in the past that I liked to give her an idea of what I wanted. She was friendly and maintained conversation with me the whole time. I felt like I got the most thorough hair analysis ever. She has an incredible eye for detail, works her brush and blowdryer magically, and gave me so many recommendations on hair treatment and upkeep I ended up making a list for myself to stay on track with my haircare maintenance. Like I preivously mentioned, my hair is a disaster. Because it's so thin, blowouts never look "full" enough. Not this time. My hair looked...luxurious. Seriously, I haven't seen body like that in years. I'd also like to point out that the salon wasn't busy at all when I was there and Gladys spent an entire hour with me talking, giving suggestions, and even doing a mini photo shoot! Great place, I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town and in need of a good hairdo. read more

I came here for a simple cut with long layers and possibly color. My appointment was delayed 20 minutes but I didn't think anything of it. The receptionist walked me up to this middle aged asian woman who barely spoke any english. The language barrier in the past has not stopped me from getting amazing haircuts in the past. But when I showed the woman a picture of an ombré hair color she had no idea what or how to do it. The stylist next to her stepped in and had to explain it to her and confidently told me she knew how to do it. I trusted the reviews on yelp but this woman was a nightmare. She took 90 minutes to give me the worst hair cut of my life. She gave me choppy uneven layers. I could tell by the way she held the scissors she was untrained or inexperienced. She smacked me a few times with the brush and came close to my eye with the scissors. Thank god I didn't ask for a bob or bangs. After 90 minutes I told them that it was the worst hair cut i had ever received. The hair stylist working next to me had done 4 beautiful women in the time I say there. He offered to fix it. Within ten minutes I had the hair cut I had first asked for. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't have paid the $45 for the cut. Needless to say I'm never coming back here. read more

First I would like to say that the people here are NOT bad at all. They are just decent people trying to make a living however business is business. If I paid for something I came here to get then I would like to walk out satisfied. I came here only because I recently been getting my eyelash extensions done with Esther (who does an AMAZING job) The hair department upstairs is a different story. I asked Simone(lady of the house) to just slightly trim and lighten my hair. The results? Choppy trim, cut WAY too much, couldn't even tell that my hair was colored. Light brown is not dark brown. On top of that she took almost an hour to trim my hair. She kept sayin that if I am not satisfied then I can come back. But who has time to go back and forth? I work 6 days and I don't need to be spending my weekends at a hair salon! So after the choppy hair and bad dye job, they asked if I am able to come back the following day however not guaranteeing that it will come out decent. This is because their professional hair dresser/colorist was on vacation and the only person that can do the job was Simone. What he should've told me was, the professional hair dresser is on vacation and all we have is Simone and we are not confidant in her abilities to cut and color. But of-course they wanted the money due to slow business, because I was the only person there since 3 to 8 on a Saturday. I then had enough of this and took the option of a refund. This place is not worth going to when it comes to hair. Esther does eyelash extensions downstairs and she is amazing! read more

I just had the best haircut I ever had at NuImage Salon in the town of Great Neck. My parents used to own a hair salon for 40 years so I can tell the hair cutting skills that Jess has is 1st class. In our conversations, I know that Jess is very knowledgeable with different types of hair. He has a professional manner yet very friendly. And it's so close to where I live( in walking distance).
