Only takes cash which isn't a deal breaker but a little annoying. $40 for a pant hem is also pushing it for me. Went to pick up my clothes and the hours must not be correct. Went after 4, before 5, multiple times and they were closed. On my fourth visit to pick up my pants I went before noon and was able to pick them up. Will be going somewhere with other payment options, consistent operating hours, and better value. read more

Vu is super nice and friendly, but the place is a bit more expensive than other tailors I've been to, but I should have known by the area he is located. We got simple hemmed pant legs from him, and they cost $25 each, completed a week later. I had legs tapered in at a tailor in California for that same price. (Vu wanted to charge me $80 for pant leg tapering.) So he may be best for more expensive pieces where the higher charge makes sense, but for more simple tailoring, would recommend another place. read more

Went in asking how much to take in a dress-he did not answer me-he said it is not easy. I showed him another dress he said the gathering is not easy-it had no gathering! It was nothing difficult-taking in of a dress. I've been going to Vue for 6 years. I'm a petite but athletically built 5'2" girl and I have to get a lot tailored for my body type. Every college formal dress, every pair of pants and shorts worth tailoring I've brought to him. And every time the results are exactly what I had hoped for. I always have to buy pants that fit on the legs/butt but are loose on my waist, and he tailors everything to my body size. It feels SO good to have clothes that are FLATTERING and fit me perfectly. My cousin trusted her wedding dress alterations to Vu. Anything from durable tshirts and jeans, to delicate lace and intricately detailed pieces, Vu handles every alteration with great care. And- hell even be honest if he thinks a piece isn't worth the alterations. One time I brought in a bodysuit I got off of ASOS and he knew right away the poor fabric quality wasn't worth my money for the alts. I was happy he advised me not to spend my money, as he believed the fabric wouldn't last more than a couple washes anyway. I needed a last minute wedding dress alteration - well, several - length change, sleeves shortened and tightened, and attached corset adjusted. Vu took about three minutes to get me pinned up, new exactly what needed to be done - I didn't even have to say a word! And I picked it up in three days!! It was perfect. Absolutely perfect. You can't even tell a single stitch was moved or removed, it fits like a glove. I'm so grateful. I'll be sending my new husband here for all of his suit and tailoring needs. Great service, quick turnaround and overall great quality work. I went in for the first time a couple weeks ago to get a jacket and pair of pants worked on. The sizing process took maybe 5-10 minutes and he knew exactly what I was looking for. You can tell that Vu's knowledge and experience is immense and he's definitely worth the price. I needed my items back double time for a rehearsal dinner and he turned everything around in less than a week. You can tell how much he has to work on from all the dresses, jackets and pants hanging in his shop. So for him to be able to get my items back to me that quick was amazing. Maybe "he saved my life" is a little exaggeration when it comes to altering a dress, but that's what it felt like when Mr. Vu fixed the comically large shoulder straps of my bridesmaid's dress just a few days before the wedding (I was the perfect storm of procrastination and overconfidence in dress rental agencies). Because it was a rental, he fixed the dress in a way that I could remove the stitching after the wedding and return it with no penalty fee, and it was still sturdy enough to where I had no fears about the stitches popping out in the middle of the wedding. It was perfect. I had called a few other tailors closer to me and they all told me it couldn't be done in a few days, but when I called Mr. Vu he said he could do it, and it took him literally less than an hour. I was expecting to pay tons of money for a drop-in last-minute alteration--Mr. Vu asked for $25. $25! He definitely got a generous tip on top of that. I really appreciate what he did for me that crazy Saturday, and I would absolutely recommend him for any tailoring or alterations. read more

I don't generally write reviews because I always tell myself that I don't have the time to (I just don't want to), but I HAVE to with Vu's Custom Clothing. First off, he is the sweetest man, very accommodating, and knows what he's doing. I had a dress that needed some alterations, and other tailors wouldn't work on it either because it couldn't be done on time or it was too difficult to work with, but thankfully I stumbled upon this nice little shop! He had it done within a week, which is nice because I wouldn't need it for another 3 weeks, but it gives me one less thing to worry about. I definitely recommend going to Vu's (off of lovers lane), it will be worth your while! read more

Absolutely fantastic! I purchased a pair of pants on sale that I could not refuse. I knew I would have to have them tailored to be perfect, but after trying them on when I got home, I thought it was a lost cause. After visiting Vu's, he assured me he could tailor a "Perfect Pant". I was looking for a new tailor who could provide quality service in a timely manner and at a reasonable price. After scouring through reviews, I noticed that several of the comments about Vu's Custom Clothing and Alteration were from customers who have been coming to Vu's shop for many years. I dropped off 4 pairs of slacks to be hemmed on a Saturday. He and I discussed various options, and he provided recommendations in terms of style which I appreciated. He promised to have them ready the following weekend. When I returned to the shop, he greeted me by name though we had only met once before. Though I arrived at the shop after the official closing time on Saturday, he let me in anyway. The pants were hemmed by hand rather than by machine which prevents the hem from being seen on the outside of the pant leg. I am very pleased with the personal and quality service that Vu provides.
