This place is between a comic book store and Pocket Sandwich Theatre at Mockingbird Plaza. The sign just says Alterations. And that is what they do: quick, quality alterations to anything. Just pop into a dressing room and the tailor will listen to what you think is wrong, agree, and then point out where else you may want to nip, tuck, or let out- I appreciate the honesty! I have taken bridesmaid dresses there the week of the event and gotten them back in plenty of time; ladies, you know that doesn't always happen. I have never been disappointed. read more

I've been going here for a while, but the last few times are enough to make me never go again. He doesn't do the work he charges you for. Literally. I've picked up clothes from him, paid for the repairs, but when I get home, I find out he's done absolutely nothing. He did this with my wedding dress! I brought a garment in to have a zipper fixed and this business took it upon themselves to completely rearrange the design of the clothing destroying its functionality and rendering my clothing to trash. No courtesy call to discuss their proposed course of action and no apology upon pickup. Worst of all, they still wanted to charge excessively for their "services." Stay away! read more

I have been looking for a real old fashioned Tailor (not seamstress) in Dallas for almost a year. This is the place you can tell just when you walk in. A bought a new lambskin leather jacket and needed sleeves adjusted and I tried so many places that just do not know how to work with Leather. These folks did it beautifully, quick and at reasonable cost plus they are very pleasant to deal with. read more

Most recently I brought a formal gown - Nordstrom's alterations department had ruined it and given me a new one, so I brought it here to make it shorter, shorten the straps and take it in at the top and it is perfect now. First time ever coming here. I was going to go down the street to another tailor but saw this one as I was walking across Mockingbird from DART Station. It saved me a two block walk. Took in two pairs of pants to get two inches taken out the leg, dropped them off on Friday and picked them up on Monday. Pants fit perfect, they sewed on the original hem so it doesn't even look like they were altered. Perfect! read more

Bad customer service. I went in to have a dress hemmed. The lady who helped me told me she could do it for 40. I asked for a better price and she checked with the manager who, without even looking at the dress said they cant do it for 40! He kept saying it was complicated over and over. So insulting to say that a simple hem is "complicated" and its bad business not even to reneg on a quoted price!!! You just lost me as a customer. I will never go back to such a shady place. read more

I have only good things to say about the quality of the alterations. The owner has always been professional and nice. The only reason why I rated it four stars is because I have felt on a few occasions that the prices are a little on the expensive side for certain items. I took a bridesmaids dress here to be altered and they hemmed the dress unevenly all the way around, the lining was hanging out out in several places and it was much too short in the back. When I expressed my disappointment the owner of the shop yelled at my mother and me and told us "he didn't want to hear one more complaint, that he owned the store and if I had wanted it done right I should have done it myself". We took 4 dresses to have altered 3 were done ok and 1 was messed up and his response was "well 3 of the 4 were good, what did you expect?" He stilled charged me $80 for my dress and was incredibly rude. I understand that certain fabrics can be hard to alter; however, the lack of customer service and hardly giving me a discount on a dress he messed up was disheartening. I will never return to this shop again and I recommend that if you don't want to take a chance on your alterations being messed up you should go elsewhere! read more

HORRIBLE!! I took three pairs of straight leg pants in to get hemmed. Simple, basic hem- nothing fancy and to make the seam just as the original hem on the pant. Just like the previous review the owner would not listen to me, as I explained what I wanted. I had to force him to mark my pants so that I wouldn't end up with capris. Well I went to pick up my three pairs of pants (Stella McCartney and two Helmut Lang) and to my horror- he arbitrarily decided to just sew generic one inch seams on the bottom of my pants!! The Stella McCartney pants had an original invisible hem and he just added a one inch ugly stitch! Not to mention one pair I cannot even fix because they have leather on them and if you take out a stitch in leather you will see the holes from the sewing machine! I told him how upset I was that he did this and his response was that "most people" want a one inch seam! I was appalled and stated again that he had no right to do this to my items and he called me a "disgusting customer!" Obviously getting my money back did not happen. I would caution any person to NEVER GO TO ART'S CUSTOM TAILOR! read more

i went in with my girlfriend who was getting a pair of jeans hemmed. i had a dress shirt that needed to be taken in and a dress that needed to be let out in the chest. my first clue that they were going to do an awful job should have been the fact that the guy just would not listen to me and refused to let me get a word in. i asked him if he wanted to measure my chest for the dress, but he refused, assuring me that he knew exactly how much needed to be let out. The same thing with the dress shirt; a few chalk marks on one side and again, he pretended as though he knew exactly he was doing. i get 90% of my clothing tailored so definitely not new to this, not sure what i was thinking. I prepaid for the service, and when I returned to pick them up, both were too big and the dress looked awful. Once again, he talked over me and insisted that it fit me great. By this point, it was clear to me that they have absolutely no idea what they are doing, and i requested that he refund me my money ($45 dollars for ruining my dress and leaving the shirt essentially the same!) and again, this request was refused. i hightly recommend that you go elsewhere, especially if you have something nice that you dont want ruined.
