This place truly broke my heart as the first time I went I ranted and raved about the service. Despite a small misunderstanding with the salons owner. Fast forward 2 months I return for the same service (micro locs retie) and everything is going well. Until the salon owner realized it was taking longer than scheduled. She then told me I booked the wrong service (again) I informed her that the first time I didn't book the incorrect service and I booked the same service this time. She proceeded to tell me my service was charged at an hourly rate because it takes all day. I informed her the website states a set price. To which she stated she "would honor it this time". I asked for moving forward what is the price for the service to which she responded she couldn't speak with me as she was with a customer and would email me. At check out I asked her if she could book my next appt to avoid future issues to which she responded she had a nail appt to get to and would email me. I've yet to receive an email, from the owner (4 days have passed since my service). When I got home to book my next appt, the price had increased by $250, yes the service went from $300 to $550. Which is fine(it takes a lot of time). My main issue is the treatment by the salons owner. It showed a lack of accountability and integrity which was truly disheartening. As far as the retie with Sophia, I was very pleased with my first retie. This most recent was subpar and I'm sure it's due to the pressures to finish within a certain timeframe. I went to get medium size knotless braids. The braids weren't that great for the price i paid. Fast forward when i was washing my hair after down the braids, my mom notice a lot of product in my hair creating a horrible film in my hair. She must have used bees wax or a hard hair product because it took 5 washes to get it out. I will never go there again. read more

To make matters worse, the reason why they didn't take it out is because she put them in in a way where they were almost fused into my hair. I have another stylist who is flabbergasted at what they did. We had to individually take out EVERY LOC by detangling. I was told this would last me 1 year and be able to be taken out and reused that was what justified the $2000 price. The owner offers me a refund, then goes inside says since it's been 4 months the system won't allow them a refund. They wanted to give me a refund because they knew they messed up my hair. I recently booked a silk press, and unfortunately, my experience did not meet expectations especially for a service costing over $250. To start, I originally booked my appointment with Oye but was seen by Nancy instead without any clear explanation. That lack of communication already set the tone for the appointment. From the beginning, there was also no consultation. I was not asked for reference photos or how I wanted my hair styled beyond confirming I wanted a silk press. I would have liked curls or bumped ends, but this was never discussed. The overall experience felt unwelcoming, as there was minimal communication throughout the service. More importantly, I did not feel confident in how my hair, specifically type 4 hair, was handled. During the wash, my hair was scrunched and rubbed in circular motions, which caused unnecessary tangling despite my hair being previously stretched and detangled. While the scalp massage was nice, the technique used on my hair itself was concerning. During detangling, she worked in large sections rather than smaller, more manageable ones, and used a wide-tooth comb in a way that felt rough and that she was ripping out my hair. I noticed hair coming out in the comb, which should have been minimal given my hair was already detangled but was tangled in the way she rubbed my hair during the washing process. Additionally, water from the shampoo process soaked the back of my shirt. The application of heat protectants and serums was uneven and poorly executed. Instead of distributing it through out the hair, it was sprayed sporadically, sometimes even hitting my face, and rubbed into the hair in circular motions in a way that could cause tangling. I also wasn't expecting to see one of the dollar store heat protectant sprays in a salon. When she was attempting to apply it, it wasn't even spraying product out properly. She overall handled my hair like you would handle non textured hair. The blow-dry process was not thorough, which led to excessive heat usage later. She used a wide-tooth comb attachment and a metal comb, but the result was not smooth enough for an efficient flat iron. I was also never informed of the temperature being used on the flat iron, which is especially important when applying heat to natural hair. As a result, multiple passes were made with the flat iron 3 to 6 passes on the roots and additional passes throughout, which is excessive and damaging. As she was chasing with the comb it kept getting caught on my ends (bc of the dead ends she didn't trim) which caused her to have to force the comb through the ends. The flat irons also looked dirty/ had burnt product, and my hair has a burnt smell afterward. When it came to the trim, Nancy even acknowledged that my hair was uneven by asking if I had trimmed it myself. I clearly communicated that I wanted my trim to make my hair even and blend all around, but I only received a very minimal dusting at the very bottom of my hair after the flat ironing was done that did not properly address the unevenness, despite being charged for a trim/ the trim being apart of the service. You can clearly see the dead ends in the finished result. Additionally, I paid an extra $50 for a hydration treatment that was 12 minutes, where they applied a mask and had me under a steaming cap. Personally for a short treatment it shouldn't cost $50. I was left sitting at the bowl for an additional 10 minutes after it was complete. Overall, this experience did not live up to the quality shown in their social media or what is advertised. For the price point, I expected a much higher level of care, professionalism, quality products and technical skill. I left feeling disappointed and concerned about the handling of my hair and heat damage. I am positive I will have heat damage when I wash my hair. Update: I have heat damage. The overall texture of my hair is looser, the top of my head are essentially straightish waves. Some parts of my hair are elongated and not curling properly bc of obvious damage. I just had my first salon appointment in years, and y'all... Wa Salon really made it a memorable one. I was super nervous walking in, especially since I had a little mix-up with the braid style I originally booked. I was lowkey embarrassed, but the staff immediately put me at ease. They reassured me, made me feel so comfortable, and my stylist nailed the look I actually had in mind. Like, exactly what I envisioned. The salon itself? Gorgeous. It's super spacious and modern, with a bar right in the center where guests get complimentary drinks. I tried the Blue Bubble Bath cocktail and it was so good. A whole vibe. Now I will say, I had to wait about 2 hours after my appointment time because my stylist was finishing up with another client. But I also get that with hair, things can run behind for a lot of valid reasons. They made the wait more bearable by offering snacks and keeping guests in the loop, which really shows their attention to customer service. Lara was my main braider and he was amazing, and Angelique stepped in to help finish things up. Angelique felt like family, the way she kept checking in on me and making sure I was good--such a sweetheart. Both of them were professional, kind, and talented. I walked out of there feelin' cute cute and got so many compliments on my hair. I've been hesitant to let someone else touch my hair for the longest, but it's safe to say I've found my go-to spot. My stylist was very professional and did a wonderful job. However, I was not pleased with the lack of clarification and understanding by management. I was in a car accident on 10/24 on the way to my appointment and could no longer make it to my appointment. At this time, I alerted them via instagram as they were closed. I was still charged a cancellation fee for a situation out of my control. I then messaged again letting them know I rescheduled and would appreciate being able to have my cancellation fee applied to my future appointment. I was informed at this time it could not be applied in that way but my visit could be discontinued, I specified in my message I would be happy to pay the difference at this. Upon check out I was told I was getting a $30 discount. That was odd to me seeing as I stated I paid almost a $170 cancellation fee for being in a wreck. Nonetheless the lady at the front offered another discount as she was not the one I had a conversation with and could not discount it my original amount after going back and forth quite a bit. I told her never mind and to remove all discounts and I would pay in full and tip and dispute the charges with my bank. I did just that. This whole experience is very disappointing as the salon is clean and my hair did turn out wonderfully, but there's no way someone says to you that they are upset over almost $170 and says they are happy to pay the difference after you state you can give a discount and not specify that discount is only $30. I am not a person who no call/ no shows or just trys not to pay. read more
