    Extra Pale Ale (5.2% ABV)

The WXYZ Bar is located inside of the Aloft Minneapolis Hotel. We came in and hung out a number of times during the week that we were staying at the hotel. They carry a decent selection of local craft beers - I tried 2 different beers during the week that I had never had before. I also had a few meals at the bar during the week, including their white chicken chili, a mini pizza topped with tater tots, polish kielbasa, mushrooms, and cheese, an Avocado Burger (with no bun), chicken fingers with fries, and tater tots served with a Chipotle dipping sauce. All the food was served hot and was tasty. The beers/ales I had the opportunity to drink were: - Scurvy IPA (6.5% ABV), Tyranena Brewing Co., Lake Mills, WI http://tyranena.com/scurvy-ipa/ - Extra Pale Ale (5.2% ABV), Summit Brewing Co., St. Paul, MN http://www.summitbrewing.com/brews/extra-pale-ale - Ghostrider White IPA (6.0% ABV), Wasatch Brewery, Park City, UT https://www.wasatchbeers.com/beers.aspx#ghostrider All were good IPA/Pale Ale options - delicious! The bar staff was friendly and attentive. The only thing I will ding them on is the three TVs above the bar. They are tiny! Due to the way the bar is designed - the bar shelves swing open and the TVs have to be small enough to not block the shelves - which makes them to small to actually watch anything. Other than that - Nice little hotel bar!

I've been here a few times, but only once during the evening. From the perspective of a hotel bar (it's inside the Aloft Hotel), it's a very chill place to grab a drink, work on your computer, and mingle a bit. This isn't your typical stodgy hotel bar: the uber-modern and bright decor lends itself to fun, and considering many of the occupants stay here on business, it's a nice way to wind down from a day of meetings. From the perspective of a Minneapolitan starting his/her evening of going out, the wxyz bar is also a nice choice. They have a daily happy hour as well...I think it's from 5-7 pm. Since it's just around the corner from the Guthrie, it could be a nice place to grab a drink pre or post show. The also have a nice outdoor space with firepits that's perfect on a chilly fall night. I was here once for an event: the Sugar fashion show back in October and this place was slamming! A great DJ was spinning, 80's pop colors were everywhere, and pixie sticks, chocolates, and electric colored martinis filled up the room. It was a great way to spend an evening and made me realize they really know how to throw a party. In fact, I hear that if you do want to throw one, your can bring your own play list on your Ipod and also arrange a drink special for the evening!

The bar is so relaxing and friendly! I really appreciate their bartender Kathy as she's very laid back and helpful! Gives great suggestions on food and drinks! Also knows the area for those visitors in the Twin city. It's a great place to pregame before going to the theater and then a nightcap after the theater! I really like the atmosphere!

For beverages, they have cocktails, mocktails, wine, beer, THC drinks, milkshakes, pop, lemonade, and more! There are so many options which is great! The fries are crispy! One of my friends went with the ranch fries which were good, but in my opinion it was not worth the $2 upcharge for the amount of seasoning that comes on them. I would recommend sticking with the regular fries and ordering a side of ranch as a dipping sauce instead! This is the only place that I'm aware of where you can get a vegan juicy lucy! It is very cheesy, and it's fun that there's a meatless version of a MN classic! It was messy to eat though so make sure to have a napkin nearby! I really enjoyed the atmosphere, and would go back! I think it's be a great place for hanging out with friends, especially if there are any vegans or vegetarians in the group!

Upon entering we were greeted by a woman who was clearly wearing multiple hats as she seemed rushed, a bit off putting and quite frankly distracted. It was Juneteenth the middle of the afternoon and there were maybe 6 people at the bar and one other table besides ours with 2 diners. The person seating us was also our server and the bartender. Menu is small but the items we ordered were all fabulous! Every single one! The collard green dip with cornbread pita chips was absolutely delicious - Think spinach artichoke dip but soul food! The salmon croquettes with lemon herb aioli and arugula salad that accompanied were fresh and light! The catfish sandwich with fries was hot, crispy and well seasoned with fresh lettuce and tomato on a perfectly tender brioche bun. I want to return so bad for the food but it was clear this host, server, bartender and partial cook was pulled in too many directions and that severely compromised our service and gave us stand off energy as first time patrons. I looked it up and she is actually one of the owners. She came across as irritated especially once we didn't order any alcoholic drinks first and then very short and curt following. What took the cake was her telling us she was leaving for the day and needed to close our tab while we were eating. Didn't ask did we want to order anything else and there was another server taking her place and an empty restaurant! My partner had to put his sandwich down wipe his hands pull out his wallet while she stood there impatiently. Then proceeded to linger around hugging her regular bar patrons. It was clear this is a "regulars" spot and if you're not one you're rolling the dice on the service you may or may not get. We were patient and didn't complain because it was Juneteenth and our intention to support black restaurants all weekend. I have many previous years in the industry as a cook, host and GM and I was stunned to know that she was one of the owners when I looked it up. Had planned to return for live music but unfortunately the off putting energy and unwelcoming vibe may have squashed that possibility. I hope they improve service because the food is delicious and deserves attention from a larger and more sophisticated audience.

This makes the burger really chewy and you really can't taste the beef anymore like you used to when it was thicker. I would take this as it's not as good as it used to be. It is not as good as the original hype from the beginning. In conclusion, I do not think it's worth the $19. I rather get a cheesesteak for $16 at Tono's which comes with fresh not burnt fries rather than come back here and get a burger here. It's highly unlikely I will be back here. I honestly feel like the burgers have gone way WAY downhill. The fries here have gotten terrible so I stopped getting the fries a long time ago. They are not soft crisp like they used to be. They are too golden brown color, almost like burnt hard fries. I never like to eat down here. I normally would order the Parlour burger upstairs. The basement part which is Parlour has a weird smell like a locker room smell so that's why I don't like to eat down here.
