Food is phenomenonal and the service is exceptional, especially if served by Bridgette! Instantly feel like family. Welcomed, greeted and seated. Come hungry, leave comatose and satisfied. The Creme Brulee Waffles literally will have you in a food coma because of a foodgasm! Beyond delish! Custard oozing out of the center with the signature glass bruleed top on each waffle. Comes with fresh strawberries, which are definitely needed to break the richness and whipped cream. The Smores will send you to Heaven and back! Mounds of toasted marshmallows with drizzled chocolate. The Honey Pecan has a waffle filled with chopped pecans, honey and Maple syrup. The juices are organic. We enjoyed Guava (FAV) and Mango. They have a bevvy of alcohol-infused brunch drinks, like the Mocha Gin. Think Hot Chocolate with drizzled chocolate, whipped cream and Gin. This place is serious about Waffles, Service and creating a fantastic experience for you to savor! Only 1 bathroom so govern yourselves accordingly. Street parking available. Great, peaceful and chic neighborhood.
Outstanding food and excellent service!! They have a wide choice of savory or sweet waffle dishes on the menu, or you can just build your own. Their waffles are the best I've had - the perfect sweetness and texture to go with everything on the menu. I had the eggs benedict waffle which was delicious! They also have a great selection of artisan teas and specialty coffees. I highly recommend checking them out for an amazing breakfast or brunch!
This place had a ton of potential. They serve whole and half waffles which is perfect for sharing and tasting multiple menu items. The waffle combinations all sounded great and most of the ones we ordered were lovely. The issue was the food took an extremely long time (waffles were the only thing that required cooking as the toppings were pretty standard) and by the time they came out, they were pretty cold. Pesto Chicken Waffle: the chicken was shredded and mashed with the pesto which was AMAZING. It had great flavor but the cheese was already hardened and the whole waffle was cold. Prosciutto Cheese: this one was probably my favorite of the ones we got. However, there was barely any topping on the waffle. It would have been great warm and with more topping. S'mores: this was pretty bland in my opinion. The chocolate was overpowering and it was not worth it in my opinion. Guava and cheese: I was super excited for this one and was disappointed. The cheese was just hard cubes thrown on. The guava paste was the same and was very artificially sweetened which was too much in my opinion. Could have scraped it together myself with cheap ingredients.
Great locally owned spot!! Amazing service and quality of food. The owner was so kind in getting to know us, sharing about their restraints history, Puerto Rico and explaining the food options when I shared I had some dairy restrictions. Their vegan waffle is amazing and well balanced in the sense it can be paired with savory or sweet. I had a savory dish with the egg and I was so surprised. I will miss these waffles when I go back home.
Stopped by at this place for some breakfast/lunch and my boyfriend and I got a orange and mango juice. They were really good drinks! The orange juice tasted freshly squeezed. I then ordered a full waffle with Nutella and strawberries and it was very good. I also ordered a side of eggs and bacon. I wouldn't get the bacon it was really hard like it was over cooked and it was sitting on a plate for a long time before I had even ordered it. Overall this place was expensive for some waffles and eggs. It's good but not to die for. If you don't come to this location your not missing out on much.
The best food I ate in Puerto Rico!! I arrived about an hour before closing an went to pull open the door which I found to be locked. Turns out due to Covid, the restaurant has their customers order online. You decide if your going to dine in (which I did). Online you'll enter your table number an how you want to pay. You get several emails confirming your order, that your order is being prepared, an when it's done. Very simple! All the waffles are half size portions for roughly $7.18. I chose a savory (Gorgonzola Basil) an sweet (Creme Brulee). It was Sooo good! I also got an ice Chai tea which was the opposite! The hostess/server was a sweetheart! I will definitely be back next time I'm in Puerto Rico. My order totaled $20 with tip an if your looking for a place to park, try the La Puntilla Parking. It only cost me $1.75 for about an hour an is a 9 minute walk to the Waffle Era.
Amazing waffles! They have a vegan and Fluten Free batter --- but it runs out, so call ahead. If you're lucky enough to get a GF Waffle, you'll be in heaven! They've got a huge tea selection, and some of the best Ice Coffee in Old San Juan. They have good COVID protocols - including ordering from your table via QR code.
So I had been eating to try this place since we arrived in PR we finally made it our 3rd day here. Upon arrival it was wait but they have no reservation system you just stand outside the restaurant (no one is let inside) and wait tour turn until a table is ready. It took about 30 min then after about 5min of being seated the waitress told us we have to order online they only bring the food out to you that's it. So we ordered and pairs online and probably about 30 minutes later she finally brought our food. I order the cream cheese with pecans half waffle and bacon. The meal was delish but the waiting process could be a deterrence.
Food was amazing we had a party of 5 and all together we tried the chicken pesto waffle, the Elvis, crème brûlée, Bridget special, spicy mañanero, and caneloide. They were ALL AMAZING. The plates were empty in 10 minutes. Service was great they explain the menu thoroughly and you can tell they are passionate about the food they bring out. There pesto sauce was great, and they make all there sauces in house! I'm upset I can't bring this restaurant back home with me. Definitely stop here and grab some waffles!
We had a really nice breakfast here this morning. We both had a half size of the big breakfast, which had the best Manchego cheese and prosciutto with an egg on a waffle. It was hard to decide between the green eggs and ham, and the big breakfast, but the big breakfast won. The coffee was delicious and service was extremely good. Our server was Nicholle and she was great. The space it was really lovely, and we felt very at home. I'm sorry we waited until the last day to come here because I'd love to have a return visit. One more reason to return to San Juan. This restaurant is on San Jose, very close to the Plaza del Armes. It's a great location.
This was a great experience from start to finish. I visited Puerto Rico back in 2019 and have the pleasure of going to waffle era. The food was so good and the price was very reasonable. I had a sweet waffle and a savory waffle. The portions are a good size which lets you have the opportunity to try different types. I was so happy with how everything tasted. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is traveling to Puerto Rico or lives in the area. read more

The food was good, but the five stars here are especially for the excellent service and kindness of the Waffle-era staff. We came here for a brunch with a group of 24 guys and gals for a joint bachelor-bachelorette trip - I made the reservation through email over a week in advance to secure the space. The staff had blocked off an upstairs room and downstairs room entirely for our two groups - we ended up wanting to squeeze together in the downstairs space, and the host/server was very kind about rearranging tables and making it happen. Our server took her time to explain to us the menu and experience at Waffle-era, including suggestions for pairing waffles and teas. You can add alcohol to any tea or coffee or juice drink on the menu, which was really cool. She and the team were very accommodating about splitting the bill a certain way, making sure to clarify any allergies or preferences, and making sure we all got our food. I had the half Tauras (savory) and half Queso del Pais (sweet) waffles with a regular latte. The Tauras was delicious! Loved the soft goat cheese and savory pesto and balsamic. The Queso del Pais was a local specialty I wanted to try (with torched white cheese and guava paste) and it was really interesting - worth it. The coffee was good and the rest of the group was pretty happy with their waffles, although the restaurant ran out of pesto and several of the group had to replace it with balsamic or chipotle sauce. Good experience, top-tier hospitality and service and accommodations for a large group, and good brunch food. Recommend this unique spot for sure! read more

All their food is 10000000/10 definitely my favorite breakfast place I've ever been to in my whole life. I still think about it everyday. Everything you get here is definitely worth it. You can add or take off anything you'd like! The owners are amazing extremely nice and very friendly. Can't wait to go back. Wish they were open all day I'd come for dinner too. read more

One of the best breakfast places we have been, the owners go over the top to let you customize their creations to meet your palate. The crème brûlée waffle is simply spectacular. read more

Outside seating only. Order online (QR code at each table), or by phone. You can pay in person or online. No entrance to inside! But the server is very nice and the food looks amazing at everyone's table. I ordered the "morning basket" because I simply wasn't in the mood for a waffle (I know.. I came to a place with waffle in the name, hahaha). Everything was really good except the oatmeal which was UNBELIEVABLY good. It was a perfect breakfast dessert with my iced coffee. Very highly recommended for their extensive menu of sweet and savory dishes - focused on waffles as a base. Numerous vegetarian options. Wide Range of teas. Very good coffee. In true Puerto Rican style, this brunch was very slow. We got coffees first (no free refills) and ordered two savory half waffles, one smore half waffle, and one plain waffle. I liked the idea of choosing half waffles and being able to try multiple. The savory ones were definitely much more tasty. The smore waffle was way too sweet. The place was super cute though and perfectly located in old San Juan. read more

I'm not a big waffle person, but my friends wanted to hit this place for brunch while on our vacation. I have to admit, I'm glad we went! The menu is comprised totally of sweet and savory waffle options. I went with the green eggs and ham waffle, which was topped with prosciutto, poached egg whites, pesto and chopped green onion. I thought this combination was delicious and I even enjoyed the waffle, though I only ate half. There is an option to order a half waffle, but it only comes with half of the toppings, which is why I went for the full. Service was friendly and the restaurant was casual and comfortable. This is a must visit place if you are in old San Juan. This Waffle House closes midday I think so get in here early. The waffles were amazing, one of the best I've had in a while. They had many options to choose from but the best one seemed to be the one with chicken in it. It gives you that protein feel with a brunch kinda heaviness to a breakfast. The drinks were ok. There were better ones in the city. Service was on point where everyone greets and serves with pleasure. The locations is one of the best ones in San Juan's situated right off a small pebble stone street with prewar sort of building layouts and no traffic or light traffic. Hot Dang! Anything on a waffle? Pretty much! During our recent trek to Old San Juan we found this cozy bistro in town and decided to drop in for a quick breakfast before exploring Fort Morro which is close by. On a Friday around noon it was pretty empty so we had no wait at all. ( on Saturday same time it was packed and we had to wait 20 minutes for a table ) Terrific list of waffle plates for breakfast, lunch, dinner. Salty, savory, or sweet. Salmon, Eggs, Nutella - OH MY! Good tea list too, and of course some boozy concoctions. Both waffle plates we devoured were so delish! Green eggs and ham (pesto and goat cheese) and Salmon breakfast (smoked salmon, capers, cheese, egg) - we enjoyed both. So cheap! At least by NYC standards where I'm price gouged for most everything. Two for one mimosas! Yes please! Terrific service. Chill and laid back spot with a welcoming decor. Nothing fancy but not shabby either. Just right. If in Old San Juan worth checking out for a different kind of breakfast/lunch option. Oh, and we dropped back in to have a dessert waffle - Creme Brulee. Burp! Yum. read more

All I can say is YUMMM! Waffle-Era is a quaint cafe that, you guessed it, serves unique sweet and savory waffle options. I went for the Pami's breakfast, which came with yogurt, granola, cinnamon, and fruit. Wow. I ordered the half size, and was satisfied when I finished, but I DEFINITELY would have devoured the full size if I had the foresight to get it. It's just that good. This was one of the best brunches I've had in San Juan. I hope everyone takes the time to enjoy this gem too! read more

Such a wonderful place for breakfast! I'm so happy my fiance and I decided to stop here during our vacation. These were definitely some of the best waffles I think we've had. We each got half a waffle, but could have easily eaten more. Everyone working there was also very friendly! read more

Was told by 2 separate sources to pass by this place while on vacay in PR. So glad we did. Small boutique, hidden away on a small cobble stone street with great views of the water. Their menu was very creative with great options for sweet or salty waffles. They were out of the creme brule, to my hubby's dismay. He chose a sweet alternative with the nutella waffle while I had the chicken pesto waffle. Both were so yummy! We had the Hibicus tea and ginger lemonade. Overall we enjoyed our dishes. Service was friendly but kinda slow. read more
