5 star waffles (all different ways) & coffee. LOVE this place. The waffles are thick, well done, crispy & fresh. You can get a 1/2 order (which I did), which was enough for me. Mine had blueberries, banana, (fresh maple syrup & plain yogurt on the side). Scrumptious is all I can say. Steves had 2 eggs up, peppers, salmon & onions I think. He said it was delicious too. Wow! So good! Best coffee in all of San Juan! The waffles were delightful, we had Nutella, Strawberries and whipped cream on one, honey and cinnamon on a another and a savory lox and cream cheese on the last! We finished it with a homemade lime soda. I can't recommend this place enough if you visit old San Juan. read more

Came early to beat the rush- hint early is 9 am since they don't open until then. It is now 10am and still not too bad of a crowd. Atmosphere- very cafe like. It's a nice place on an off the beaten path road with views of the bay. It's warm with just fans for air conditioning. But it's comfortable because you aren't in the sun. They have no outdoor seating. Service- Upon reading the previous reviews we were worries that service would be slow. It was fine for us this 'early' but I can see why people would complain with a larger crowd around. A little inattentive but fine if you are in no hurry. Food- ordered a wafflito- small waffle- and let me tell you it IS exactly what it says it is. Small, though enough to hold me over till lunch time. Mine tasted like any ordinary waffle nothing spectacular. I had bananas and chocolate chips. The bananas go well with the waffle mix they use. My boyfriend said his tasted a little funny. Maybe it's something in the batter? Prices- I had a bit of sticker shock looking at the menu. $1 for toppings!? Ouch. That's how much it costs for a large pizza topping at my favorite pizza place. Overall I guess that a $15 breakfast isn't bad, but considering it wasn't the amount of food I was expecting that's pretty expensive. I love the idea of this place! I love waffles! The space is just so lovely, very zen-like in it's quietness and airiness. I'm surprised I'm not giving it a 5 star review too. Problem was, I ordered appetizers and some waffles, they were out of the ingredients for the appetizer I chose, and out of ingredients for one of the waffles I had chosen. Not a huge deal, but really? Service was terrible. The waiter was really cold and aloof. He pretty much appeared miserable and unhappy to be doing his job. I love a waffle place- we have one in South Orange that's awesome and of course I love the Waffle Shop in State College, PA. Mixed reviews on this place. I liked my waffle; my husband wasn't over the moon about his. The coffee process- distilled, which they call fire brewed- was fascinating to watch. My canneloni waffle, which I added berries to, was quite tasty. So why the mixed review? First, the pricing structure makes no sense. If I get a half waffle, it's around 5-8$ with toppings or as suggested. However, if I bump up to a whole waffle, it's more than twice that- usually around $17. Huh? That doesn't even make sense. So if I order two half waffles, I could pay around $12 and it's more work for you. In addition, there was either a language barrier or a sense of not caring about our specific needs when ordering. I asked for a black iced coffee (I hate drinking milk) and got a iced cafe latte. Which I would have sent back, but our waitress never came back to check on us (and another runner brought us our drinks). So I guess shame on me for not making a bigger stink about my $4.50 coffee. My husband asked if the eggs were scrambled on his "big breakfast waffle" and the waitress said "Oh yes." Then they came poached. I'm sorry to rain on everyone's parade here, but I just wasn't that impressed. First, let me say the food was amazing. This was my favorite meal from my trip to Puert Rico & cruise. It's all waffles: full sized & waffle-itos. We both got the regular sized waffles, and I wished I'd gotten the smaller one. So many options, savory & sweet. They have an amazing tea menu, too. That said, the service was terrible. There were 2 open tables (about 10 in all) & we were told to wait outside. They took our name and put us on a list. Then 3 other groups came, eere put on the list, & 2 were seated we were. We reminded him we where on the list and he seated us next. It took 10 minutes for us to get our order in, about 20 to actually get our drinks, and another 30 to get our waffles. We kept reminding ourselves that we were in PR, not DC - but it was still irksome. The small restaurant was cute & at first I loved the sun light in the ceiling - but as the sun moved across, shining off our glass table, again I found myself irked: having to wear sunglasses inside. I've been to San Juan 3 times in 4 yrs and this is my first time seeing a tea spot!! So amazing! In just the 5 days I've been here I've visited them twice for late lunch and once for breakfast! All I have to say is this! The staff is super friendly did I mention amazing? The tea is great too! I got the white peony iced all 3 times I've been.
