When we arrived to our room the first thing I noticed was the view! We were on the ground level, so we had a nice sitting area just outside the room. Although it was too cold to sit outside, the view from inside was just as nice. Once I started looking around at the room I noticed how outdated and in need of deep cleaning it was. The carpet was stained, our bedding was stained, the wallpaper was peeling off, dirt and grime had gathered in the corners, and there was toothpaste or cleaning spray all over the bathroom mirror and sink. My side of the bed was caving in, so when I laid on my left side I rolled a bit, which makes me think maybe the mattresses need to be replaced. I will say, the pillows were comfy! That evening we ate at the restaurant where we ordered off the menu. I ordered The Falls Burger, which is your basic cheeseburger with the usual toppings - lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and your choice of cheese. The burger tasted like it was previously frozen, but the fries were delicious! Our waitress, McKenzie, was incredible! She was attentive and friendly and deserves recognition! We ended up back at the lodge restaurant the following evening where they were serving a buffet dinner only, no option to order off the menu. McKenzie was great once again, but unfortunately, the food was not. The buffet consisted of soup, salad, mac-n-cheese, rolls, yellow rice, black eyed peas, BBQ chicken, catfish, carrot cake, pumpkin pie, and apple pie. All of the items I ate were cold and just mediocre. You can imagine my surprise when I saw the $46 bill - $27.99 for an adult and $15.99 for a child. Absurd for the lack of options and for the cold food. (Keep in mind that the closest towns with good dining options are at least 30 mins away.) During nice weather the falls are gorgeous to hike up to and the park is fun to explore, but take note if you have children with you and the weather isn't great, there's not much for them to do. The park itself is beautiful and well worth a trip! And I truly believe the lodge could be brought back to life with a few changes.

This used to be called the Ellijay CoffeeHouse House, but is now Mountain Town Coffee at Hemlock Bazaar (hopefully Yelp will accept my edits), and it has a great vibe. There's a back entrance and courtyard which we came through. The decoration is wacky- I don't know how else to describe it. It's old school and nostalgic but strange. On the other side of the wall there's an entire book store that is part of the business. It had one of the most impressive collections I've seen in a bookstore in awhile. It wasn't huge but it had a great variety of genres, and a lot of intriguing titles I hadn't heard of but sought to remember for later. The man working the register was a charm- he told us how Ellijay has their own tv production (which they were playing on an old school tv), a special Bigfoot podcast and more. Lastly, the coffee was, of course, delightful. I had a latte with a little bit of spice in it that was perfect to warm a person up in the cool early spring air when we were there. Had we known this would be such a cool stop I think we would have bargained even more time to just hang and enjoy the atmosphere. I think it could be a good place to sit and do work or read and there's lots of spaces to sit so it's not too loud.

The bacon and egg taco. lol A cute, newly opened breakfast lunch spot right on Main Street. A nice home town vibe with a little bit of a diner flair. I liked the bacon and scrambled egg taco. It came with avocado and cheese with a side of potato's. For not being too busy it seemed to take a little longer than normal to come out and then it was luke warm at best. While waiting they seemed to struggle to keep the coffee cup filled and they used one of those coffee crafts which again was just warm. I will say I like the menu and will give the lunch items a try next time I'm in the area. In the mean time hopefully the service will improve some.

This was the first restaurant ever that has served a "perfect" poached egg in hollandaise sauce over a soft buttery English muffin. With Canadian bacon. Bravo to the chef I loved my meal. I used NO salt or pepper the food did not require it. When I cut into my egg it held its form until I sliced the yoke. The taste was pure perfection. Yum. This bright sunny business is the joy to my start of the day and worth a visit.

Our server, Dixie, was so kind and couldn't have made me feel more special. They treat you like family here in this lovely little cafe. I had my usual 3 egg omelette, with ham, spinach, onions, and jalapeños. It is always Amazing, but be forewarned that when you request jalapeños, you get a ton of them! So good and spicy, it's really well-prepared and delicious! My husband had the chicken salad on a toasted croissant and he loved it as well. He's very picky about chicken and he loves the salad here at Carriage House. This is a really special spot in Jasper. They serve breakfast as well as lunch so be sure to give them a try. Finding the small door into the place can be tricky, so be sure to have the address and be patient looking for it. It's well worth your trouble!

The restaurant is cozy with multiple tables and a couple of bar stools (although I've never seen anyone sit at them). The servers are pleasant and refill coffee regularly. The French toast comes with a side. One that's not listed in the "sides" is 2 eggs cooked to order. I ordered them overmedium and they were PERFECTLY cooked. That's an art, my friends! $12 for 3 pancakes and potatoes is ridiculous though- especially with fake maple syrup. The muffins are huge for $4 and they are freshly baked. You can't go wrong with those! We'll definitely be back.

They charge $5 for their croissant, which was where it falls short. If it were the best croissant I ever had, perhaps. No substitutions. Always hated this rule for every restaurant, but I get it if you have a special and hundreds of customers. We were one of 3 parties on a weekday brunch, super slow. We also ordered the traditional breakfast and a kids breakfast. But instead of bacon, we wanted a croissant for the kids meal. They are both $5 in the menu when ordered separately. First the server said they didnt know (weird) then said they would check and left for 5 minutes. The answer was no. So I paid an extra $5 and added a croissant. I ate the bacon, which improved my salmon Benedict. But neither the croissant nor bacon felt like $5. Kids meal is now the cost of a regular. So I recommend if you dont want any substitutions, try this place. I wont be coming back. It really irks me that you cant just put bread instead of bacon on a kids meal. You aren't a robot, and you are not busy. You are also not getting me as a patron anymore. P.S. the Croissant alone was not worth $5. I rate it a 3 out of 5 on its own.
