I love Waffle House! Growing up in Georgia, there were plenty to choose from but living in Illinois now, there aren't very many. DH takes me to Waffle House whenever we are traveling because he know I can get a hot bowl of grits and scrambled eggs that are not burned! We had to wait for a table to be cleared, but that was quick. Our server was attentive and got our orders promptly and correctly. I had 2 eggs scrambled with cheese, grits in a bowl, crispy bacon, and toast...my favorite breakfast! DH got the Grand Slam with hash browns (20 years and he still doesn't have the lingo down for ordering his hash browns crispy with onions, LOL). This is the first waffle house I have been to. It was quite busy (Monday morning 9am) but we got seated within 5 minutes and were greeted immediately. The server was super nice and didn't keep us waiting. I got the bacon, cheese, egg and hashbrown bowl which is exactly what it sounds like. This is right down the middle food, it does the job and it is cheap and therefore exactly what waffle house is known for (why I give it 4/5 stars). Waffle House never disappoints. They always have the hard workers and friendly staff. They had only two girls taking orders, cleaning the tables and taking care of the cash register. They kept a smile at all times and apologized for the delay taking care of the tables and orders. The cooks worked unitedly and happy to be there serving you. We are always impressed by this place and it's workers! Please remember to tip them well too!!! I saw a couple only left $2.00 tip! Come on! Let's be a bit more generous than that! I went with my boyfriend in the afternoon and had an absolutely wonderful experience! Emily and the woman she was training(I can't recall her name; maybe Jessica?) were so kind and attentive. Everything is just as it should be at Waffle House. Simple and straight to the point. I had a blueberry waffle, with two eggs over medium, all was cooked perfectly. It came with a choice of sausage, bacon or ham, I opted for the sausage and it's good. My meal also came with a choice of grits, hash browns or tomato, I opted for cheese grits and they are also good. And whole wheat toast. Plenty of food and all of it good. My husband ordered the two eggs with bacon, hash browns and white toast. You can see from my photos that they gave him an ample portion of bacon, most other places only give two slices. All in all, a good meal for a reasonable price, nothing fancy, but Waffle House has never made any claim to fanciness, just good food. After spending nearly a week in the south and seeing Waffle House everywhere (some places had two Waffle Houses within a half mile!), we finally stopped here on our way back home today. The thing I love most about Waffle House are the cheap meals with perfect portions. You're not still hungry at the end of your meal, but you're not overly stuffed either. It's just right. I think Goldilocks would like this place. This location didn't disappoint. It's not high-class but it isn't near the bottom of the barrel. Good food (the hash browns are so yummy and you can put toppings on them), cooked quickly (we didn't wait very long), low bill ($12 for two), extremely friendly service ("y'all" and "ma'am"), and some interesting locals (including rednecks in overalls). I'm glad we finally stopped to eat here! read more

My husband and I were at the Waffle House on Saturday for breakfast. Small dining room and a few seats at the counter. The dining area could have been cleaner. Tables were dirty and sticky from syrup. There's a CD jukebox which plays mostly country music. Service was fast and efficient. Waffles were delicious, bacon was perfectly cooked. Toast was not hot. Orange juice and coffee seemed to be weak and watered down. We enjoyed our meal, but food quality and restaurant cleanliness could stand for some improvement. read more

This place was ok. Waffles weren't crisp, coffee was watered down, and the hash browns tasted like either lemons, or cleaning product. Not sure which... yikes. However, it was clean, the eggs were good and service was great and the people were friendly. I will probably never hit up a Waffle House ever again. read more

I used to love this location, but my visit today changed my mind. My father and I ordered our usual meals with him bringing his own diet mountain dew, as usual, because he hates the taste of fountain drinks. When we got the bill we noticed it was almost $3.00 more than usual and the math wasn't adding up. The waitress finally admitted that she'd been told by management to add 2.50 to any bill if the customer brought their own drink. WE ARE BEING CHARGED FOR NOT BUYING SOMETHING! Even though we bought 12.00 worth of food! This is outrageous and we will not be returning. We don't approve of theives. read more

Walked out wondering what the heck I just experienced. Ordered my food, waiter said to herself "...how do I write that?" They were looking for plates to put the food on, every single one was filthy. They played with my to-go box, which then fell onto a tub of butter(?)...she gave me that exact to-go box. Food was good. Stopped in for breakfast for the first time in a couple of years and was definitely not impressed. The floor appeared as though it hadn't been swept since the day before. The omelette and hash browns weren't even close to the quality they used to be. They only reason we stayed after being served and tasting the food was the server, she was polite and refreshing. Great place for breakfast or dinner. Very friendly staff. Here for dinner and food is very good. Chef made everything perfect

10:30 am, entered the restaurant. 3 tables were occupied, the rest of the tables were dirty. Nobody acknowledged my presence; no "welcome to Waffle House, I'll be right with you", no "hello" no ANYTHING. My wife sat on the edge of a seat as I stood and waited. Typically Waffle Houses are consistent however there was a new cook. My husband's hash browns were nearly inedible...too much black and crunchy crust. we did not feel like sending it back as we were on a road trip and did not want to wait for a correction. read more

The only reason we (party of 8) ate here was the driver insisted. The food is ok. I had a BLT. Hard to mess that up but tasty just the same. Coffee was plentiful. Service was slow and apologetic. I ordered takeout Sunday morning and when I arrived to pickup my food (2 mins earlier than they said it would be ready) they handed me the only take out order on the counter. As I was paying I began to open the Togo bag and the manager copped an attitude and told me that wasn't necessary as my order was correct. I felt around the bag and didn't notice any syrup, so I asked for extra. With an eye roll I was given 2 more. I paid and left. When I got home (4 miles) I noticed that the order was not mine as it had all incorrect items. I drove back to WH and when I walked in the same manager lady yelled across the restaurant "he was smart enough to bring it back!" At this point I was already aggravated and stupidity like this was totally unnecessary. I put it back on the counter and they handed me another to go order and said that this was mine. As I was walking out I checked the bag and realized they had left off the order of bacon and the order of hash browns. I went back in to ask about these and with frustration they gave me the rest of my order. As I was walking away they asked to hold on and said they needed to refund me and recharge me because I still owed $12. Haha that was my tipping point. I told them that I could either invoice them for my time and extra trips for their mistakes or we could call it even and I walked out. They tried to make it seem that the home was all on me, terrible customer service. Food was of course cold when I finally got it so the food would only be a 2 Star. read more

Waffle House is always a good place to eat. When I get off from work & I'll really hungry I'll stop by. When I was younger & on a good drunk I would go there at 2 or 3 in the morning & eat breakfast with those delicious smothered hash browns. Their coffee is hard to beat. If I order eggs, they are always cooked perfectly. That & some country ham. Maybe a pecan waffle. I haven't tried the waffles with chocolate chips or they have a couple of other new toppings available. Sometime I'll have the biscuits & gravy. I'm just making myself hungry. read more
