Charged double. Didn't even get refund or another order of food which i paid for. When I told them Tiva the employee there informed it wasn't their problem. I have been a regular at Waffle House on Cortez Blvd. for some time. The waitstaff has always gone above and beyond. Today (Sunday, around 4 pm) was a totally different story.. I walked into the WH, and there was only one other customer in the building. It took the server, whose name was Avery, I think (early 20s), a while to greet me, clear the booth, and finally take my drink order. He could not concentrate on me because he was talking with the other server, who was holding court at the sinks. The other customer who was there wished me good luck. He said, "Talking about the servers, 'Good Luck', they both are sorry." I gave my order directly to the cook because Avery had already messed up my drink order. It was more important to discuss Zodiac Signs with the other server than to pay attention to me and my order. I got my order, but Avery never came back to check on me. Keep in mind, I was the only customer in the building for a few. Finally, someone else walked and took a booth behind me. Avery finally took their drink order, walked away, and started putting dishes in the dish sanitizer without getting their coffee. I finally had to ask Avery for a drink refill. I then had to ask Logan (The cook) for my ticket to pay. Avery was at the other end of the building, sitting in a booth, visiting with the other server. I have had several servers through my visits to Waffle House, and they ALL have been great. But, Avery was the worst I have had there. I won't be making many stops with him there. Standard Waffle House food (tolerable) and service (indifferent) ... so nothing to write about there. But this location was absolutely filthy. The floor had crap on it, there was food under our booth, the salt and pepper shakers were sticky, and I can't even begin to describe the filthy piss-smelling bathroom. The only reason im giving this waffle house 1 star is due to the server Frances and her amazing kindness and patience. Me and my fiance stopped at this waffle house after a long drive and definitely needed some coffee and hot food. Frances was nice enough to open up a table for us to have avoid standing and waiting for a table to open up. I guess it was a busy night (The waffle house was pretty empty aside from about 5 tables being occupied) because 2 cooks began to complain about us being seated and continued to harass us as well as the server who was nice enough to sit us. The cooks continued to complain and even mentioned how Frances needs to "toughen up and have us wait, thats how life is." And " So i guess we're just opening up any table for these people." It was embarrassing to see how shit these cooks behaved, it got to the point the other people were leaving the restaurant. A couple who walked in heard the cooks and decided to take their meals to go instead (we sat right next to the register) so we heard everything. I believe racism played a factor in this also as Im hispanic, my fiance is filipino and the cooks were white. Despite the entire embarrassing scene Frances still pulled through and did her job with flying stars, she deserves a serious promotion. This place has been nasty now for a long time. I stopped going there last year. But decided to give it another try last night. I ordered the Texas cheese Steak. The sandwich had so much grease in it. That it made the bread soggy. I tried to choke it down. But ended throwing it up. Also it was very dirty. They had 5 people supposedly working. More like standing around. When I worked for the restaurants Industry. We never had time to stand around. There was always something that needed to be cleaned. So I give that store a very pour rating. Our truck broke down when heading back to Jax. Me and my brother decided to stop at this Waffle House for dinner. Absolutely the worse experience. I wish zero stars were an option. The cooks gave us stink looks the entire time, super quiet.. no music or anything so very awkward. Our waitress was extremely rude, and had a smart attitude, as if our positive energy was something to mock. The reason why I didn't give Waffle House five stars is because the diner is super small and unfortunately hard to accommodate large parties. But as soon as our party walked thru the doors the waitress said please wait will be sitting you shortly. That's exactly what happened our parties had to split but the whole purpose was to eat and we enjoyed our food at the Waffle House. The waitress were so respectful and the food outstanding. We of course enjoyed their waffles my husband had it while chocolate chips and let me tell you they don't hold back on those chips. Everyone else opted for the original waffle which was delicious and so fresh! I enjoyed also some scrabbled eggs, bacon and hash browns everything super fresh. 3 stars for the simple fact that its waffle house and you should know what to expect.. however, i ordered the steak and eggs with grits and toast.. steak was burnt (ordered medium rare) and cut small as hell in half (can see the exactly where it was cut when served and can provide pics in comments if needed).. girlfriend ordered the sausage egg and cheese hashbrowns (if thats what is called) was served without the sausage.. maybe if the cook wasnt too busy staring at my girls tits to try and figure out that it said red hot chilli peppers, things wouldve been better.. but who am i to criticize, still wouldnt be my last time going there.. but maybe therell be staff that can handle a rush ? ‍‍ read more

Walked in and out within 10 minutes. Table and seats still had food on them, cooks with masks around necks, servers had masks below their noses or around their necks. Servers were complaining about the sections they were assigned. All of this while cooking food or shouting orders over the food. Our server, Kim, was beyond rude and practically threw the coffee creamers down on the table. Obviously a management problem. It's a Waffle House. The food is delicious for what it is (I tend to actually love the unique taste of exclusively waffle house breakfast, eggs and grits especially). I'm mostly writing this review for the current staff though. My boyfriend and I happened to meet up here between work twice consecutively, right off of I-75, and both times were lovely. Waitresses were so friendly, attentive, and helpful. Very homey, like a true 50's neighborhood diner. I'm sad to see the jukeboxes were replaced with electro-tunes! I've been to lots of Waffle Houses. Mostly they are just so-so, but this one served up their food fast, hot and fresh, even on a late Sunday morning at full seating capacity. They got all five orders correct even though they were slammed. I think the most impressive thing was how well the staff worked together-loud and fast, helping each other out. beyond overstaffed for 3 am, the hostess was on a cell phone and motioning she would be "1 minute longer" she was less than interested knowing i was there. i ordered 2 eggs overeasy on texas bread with cheese and sausage patty..plus sausage gravy on side and order of hash browns. eggs were not overeasy, texas bread seemed cold, buiscuit gravy seemed pasty and way peppery. i know its JUST a wafflehouse, but i know when NOBODY is in the establishment and no other food is on the line waiting to be expoed, being all food items in holding are immedialtley avialable this task i oredered should have been way easy..boo to the employees of this shift. psssh on food quality once again , it is a wafflehouse...overpriced too read more
