My college roommates and I often went here for hash browns (smothered, covered, chunked!) or pancakes. I like observing the other clientele--students, townies, and people who look like they just came from NASCAR spectating. The hash browns make me happy, with the exception of one memorable situation. One of my roommates and I took a "running for fitness" class that met at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. One Wednesday night, there was a meteor shower in the area. We decided to go watch it at 4:00 a.m. on the very track on which we'd have to do sprints for class. After oohing and aahing over the pretty meteors, we got the bright idea to go get hash browns. I don't think I've ever had a great experience here. I get it, working a late shift is hard work & especially if you a busy life style. If you know, your busy, and not going to be good at te service you shouldn't be working. First of all.. took forever to get our food. While visiting C'ville Saturday night into Sunday I told my BFF that we were going to have to eat there on the way home because she'd never eaten there before and she simply MUST have some scattered, smothered, and chunked hash browns and a waffle. We got there around 10 AM. Got the last two seats at the counter. Service was friendly but not overly intrusive. Our order came out in the appropriate amount of time. My hashbrowns weren't totally cooked though, and one piece of cheese for a large order is simply not enough. My waffle was soggy. I love Waffle House. I go whenever I come south. But this was disgusting . One of the servers was digging her finger in her ear, coughing into her hand constantly and hacking all over the food prep area, sometimes not covering up. I have nothing poor to say about this location. The jukebox works, the waffles came out in a timely manner, and the guy working at 2 am didn't look like he wanted the sweet release of death. In fact, he was quite friendly and struck up good conversation. I loved the fact that the counter was clean and the silverware, although it had seen much use, was shiny and spotless. Worn but clean. The eggs were cooked as I ordered them and the bacon was crisp. What more does a man ask for when he goes to a waffle house? Good, working music, properly cooked eggs, fluffy waffles, and crisp bacon at 2 am. The pecan pie was abnormally delicious. I have stopped at Waffle House for over 30 years now. I love their fluffy omelets and rich coffee. Walked in a little after midnight. There were no customers in the place and both employees were sitting at a table. The guy looked like he was sleeping and the girl was eating a sandwich and drinking coffee. I ordered a ham and cheese omelet, hash browns and a side of bacon. They served my food and went back and sat down. After a few minutes I realized they forgot my bacon, so I asked the girl. She turned and started yelling at the guy because he forgot my bacon. He said I didn't hear you and went back to playing with his phone. The girl got up and cooked my bacon. This Charlottesville location is your typical "Waffle House" experience - mainly only a good idea if it is very late (and there is nothing else open), or if you are intoxicated (and there is still nothing else open) I have only eaten at this location once, and I will not go back. All the employees were extremely rude, and it took them well over 15 minutes to even acknowledge that I was in the restaurant - even though it was 3am, and there were only a handful of other customers at the store. The person who came over to take my order seemed annoyed that I was even there, and simply mumbled and rolled her eyes at me. I had to ask her to repeat herself multiple times, and this was to just order a cheeseburger. None of the employees could seem to get a grip on any of the other outstanding patrons that were also dining at the establishment, as all of them were extremely intoxicated and were being very loud and obnoxious. It wouldn't have surprised me if all the employees were under the influence of illegal substances or drunk as well. When my food finally arrived, it was very sloppily made and the taste was very bland. The waitress again seemed annoyed that I made the simple request for some ketchup to go with my French fries. It was finally time to pay, where I had to actually request the attention of an employee, who was standing up slouched over the counter tapping away at her cell phone. When I handed her exact change, she had the nerve to make the comment somewhere along the lines of "you're not going to leave a tip?" to which I replied absolutely not. Under her breath I heard her mumble "Wow" - could an employee of a restaurant (or of any establishment) be anymore rude?! I didn't expect too much when I planned on coming to this five star Waffle House in Charlottesville, however I did not expect it to be this big of a joke. We visited this Waffle House on the morning of Sunday, May 15. Will NEVER go to this one again! The staff was VERY disorganized and they actually argued with each other in front of all the customers. The woman whom we think was the manager, had her hair pulled back in a pony tail, but it was so long and bushy, she should have been wearing a cap or hair net. There was a dirty bucket of floor water and a mop leaning against the window beside us. We were sitting at the bar and the people who came in behind us had to actually step over the mop to get to their booth! Our food was ok. After the cooks went round and round with each other, we finally received it. The eggs were overcooked. I did enjoy my waffle though. We've been to MUCH better Waffle Houses. I come to Charlottesville to visit family and am always seeking the perfect spots to prove why I'm my niece and two nephews' favorite uncle. The food, but most importantly, the staff make this a solid choice for winning helping me win this title. I have been here multiple times and each time, the staff has taken extra care of us. We always get waffles and hot chocolate - even in 80 degree August weather. And what really makes it for the kids is the whipped cream. Although the portion was more reasonable when I went with the kids and their Dad this morning, when I took them on my own, it's like they knew they had a role in my mission and they gave each kid whipped cream towers atop hot chocolate half a foot high. Both were sick, but the aerosol whipped cream towers won them over. I'm generally a big fan of the waffle house; you know what you're getting, they are generally quick, efficient, and a good price. My always go to order is a pecan waffle, bacon, and hash browns smothered, coffee and a small OJ (what can I say, I likes what I likes). I just wish they had real butter available for the waffle instead of that awful petroleum "spread" (I know my limits, I'm not even thinking about real maple syrup). We were lucky, as when we entered there were only a few tables occupied, so we ordered and received our food before the place got packed - which it did, with people waiting. I say we were lucky because once it started to get busy it became a service crapfest. Empty tables not cleaned, servers only able to do one thing at a time (the table behind us apparently had issues; the waitress went back and forth, back and forth, 4x without ever looking at our table and ignoring a few hand gestures to try to get her attention for more coffee. My experience with the Waffle House is that the food is fairly consistent - it's the service that makes or breaks the experience. Ours started reasonably well, and I can't say the same for anyone that came in after us. This is the better Waffle House in Charlottesville. The other one I've had to ask for another coffee mug since it was filled with grime and food bits in my coffee from a previous person/washing. This location I have never had an issue with. My husband and I visit this Waffle house at times and we have always had great, kind, fast service. This is perhaps the cleanest Waffle House in America. I'm giving it a 4/5 in the context that it's still just a waffle house and they'd have to do something extraordinary to earn a fifth star. I love the Waffle House chain. This one is home to a happy bunch of ladies with great attitudes. My mom, dad and my kids all met up here and these girls greeted us as soon as we walked in the door with a "Good morning! How are y'all doing?" big smiles, pleasant conversation, quick extra seating for the one person who couldn't squeeze in the booth. My mom got a comment on her Christmas sweater, so she was happy, which in effect made all of us even happier! Food was quick and on point. Tasty! Great quality in the food set in front of us. My husband and I waited 40 minutes for someone to take our order. No one ever did so we ended up leaving. This is the second time this has occurred. The gentleman who was cooking was working very hard. We felt ignored by the wait staff with exception of the acknowledgement of our presence upon our arrival. I went here with a friend and her daughter the other day and we were all shocked by the level of service and quality of food we received. Usually you go to Waffle House for quick easy cheap food...sometimes hangover food, LOL! Normally, a semi professional person will take your order, drop it off and be done. You'd scarf it down and go about your business and love every moment of it. Well this day was like something out of a movie! The service we got that day was like we were in a high class pricey restaurant. Our server was one of the best I've had in a while eating out. I kept asking myself and everyone if we were really in a Waffle House. I got my usual Fiesta Omelette and coffee and it tasted better than ever. I still can't explain it but man that was some good food! The waffles were FANTASTIC! They kind of melted in your mouth yet still had a crispiness to them. We had one waffle left over at the end of the meal so my friend asked if they wouldn't mind warming it up for her. The cook offered to just make us a new waffle (free of charge) rather than warming it because, in his words "it's just not the same if I warm it up. You gotta have it fresh!" WHO DOES THAT?! The stars must have been in some freaky alignment because everything was just too good to be true. I'm a Waffle House fan and will sing it's praises forever but THIS experience was unlike no other Waffle House visit! Literally, this was my best Waffle House experience ever! At this location,the waitresses seemed more interested in socializing amongst themselves rather then tending to the paying customers. There is more left to be desired on the customer service front. Never brought us our check, then looked irked when we walked up to register to pay. Prior to us walking up, waitress was busy getting rude and loud with customer, different staff that was cooking was also cursing out loud several times during our unfortunate visit. The first time I got my water from the soda fountain, but after the workers saw me not order any food they filled my water up with water from the sink used in the kitchen. What an unfortunate experience. Our family of four visited the Premier Cir location on 01/11/2014 around 6pm. There were only two other tables occupied and three workers. The only table left large enough to seat four was dirty and unwiped, but I cleaned it myself. After fifteen minutes of waiting, making eye contact with the staff, and raising our hands to get their attention, no server came to our table. Two of the workers seemed more interested in looking through papers and laughing than interacting with the guests. We saw that the dining experience was going to be a difficult one and elected to leave. We went up the road to IHOP and had a wonderful dinner.
