It was very gross. The food was good though- and hot. But after that; my dad didn't want her to give him a refill and he didn't finish his food, that's a first... I've only heard of the Waffle House in the past year, but as it's a Southern insitution, I wanted to give it a try for the first time! Being across from our hotel, it was a no brainer. A little nervous because we could see a long line from the outside, but decided to give the Gulf Shores location a try since the Orange Beach location was closed being a Federal holiday and Foley is too far! There's free parking in the lot and hopped in line and waited. A small, overworked staff had us all kept the line going pretty quickly. We got a booth and wow, love the prices! My partner got a Sausage, Egg and cheese bowl and I wanted to try a little of everything so I got the all star special with bacon that I mostly finished lol! The bacon was salty and great, hash browns undercooked (are they supposed to be that way?), perfect scrambled eggs, not so toasted toast, and a thin waffle - practically a pastry! But I liked it. For the price, I'd go again and bring the whole family. Being across the street from the beach, there's sand everywhere, even in this location. Late night eating at its best! Ordinarily I am not a big fan of Waffle Houses just because the food tends to run straight through me and I feel like I'm going to bust my butt on the floor ( you know what I'm talking about.). But not this one! We ate pretty late. There were a few folks already in there when we arrived around 10pm. The staff here are hysterical and highly entertaining. We asked for a bottle of hot sauce and received 5 of them coming from different directions. It was so much fun to watch the line cooks take orders and perform at lightening speed. Our server made incredibly helpful suggestions and all of her ideas worked out incredibly well! I wish I knew her name to give her credit, but all I can recall is that begin with a D. She's on her game. I had the Philly steak with bacon melt. If I could have stuffed a few in my pocket to carry home I would have. This place was clean, no slick floors and the service was great. This is my first great experience at a Waffle House. And no I had not been drinking. This place has gotten a few star votes... try it again. I think you'll be pleased. read more

we live here and to the Waffle House in gulf shores Alabama and were treated awful!!!! the lady in there was absolutely disgusting to us!! we wanted to sit down and ALL places to sit were dirty.... she was cleaning the bar where NO ONE WAS!!! I asked her to please wipe down our table so we could sit down (5 of us) she said she was coming only to keep wiping down the empty bar and empty bar seats.... we waited another minute for her she was still slowly wiping of empty places.... we left told her that was ridiculous!!! she just waved by.... We will never go back to this Waffle House!!! The manager doesn't care because that lady is her bestie!! This Waffle House is a hidden gem! My family and I travel to the Gulf quite often and we haven't had the best experience with Waffle houses. This location completely blew out expectations out of the water! We were warmly greeted by our server AJ who helped us all dial in our orders perfectly and even recommended a few new things to try. The food was AMAZING. Our waffles were cooked perfectly as well as the eggs being tasty and the bacon just melting in your mouth. Our entire meal we never had empty glasses which is always so important to my kids. The inside of the store was incredibly clean and overall our experience couldn't have been better! I had never been to a waffle house. So far, we have been twice since we have been down here. The first time, the hashbrowns were AMAZING! That sold me on the waffle house. The second time, they were not as crispy. I will definitely go back and give it another chance. My friend always gets a waffle and hashbrowns with ham in them and cheese on top. Pretty decent. We went here as a last resort one night because we did not want to wait an hour plus to eat dinner. We walked in and were seated immediately but our drink orders were taken about 10 minutes later. Our server was really quiet which made the process harder and there was some miscommunication. My husband and I stopped here on our morning walk at the beach. We were greeted upon arrival and quickly seated. We used our South Al Jaguar baseball ticket which has a BOGO All Star breakfast coupon on the back of the ticket. We each had the eggs, toast, sausage, hash browns with drinks and took home the waffles for a breakfast for another day. The meal was fresh and delicious. I don't know what I enjoyed more... my smothered, covered, peppered large order of hashbrowns and chocolate milk or listening to my Northern buddies order (they'll probably read this review eventually). Question: What are the different sizes of coffee? Response: "It's just the one cup." (That being said, totally legitimate question but as a Waffle House veteran, I giggled a bit) Waffle House is obligatory on any beach weekend, and is usually the best cure for a hangover if it isn't too packed. The managerial staff was oh-so-kind and it looked like they were more than ready for the rush that would be upon them like the Great Flood at some point in the day. We beat the crowds and I thoroughly enjoyed my heaping mound of hashbrowns and bacon cooked perfectly. I do agree with the shared waffle for the table concept if you're going HAM on hashbrowns. Obligatory stop when in the south! Being a festival weekend, it has to be a hectic few days for them, however the service, food and management were great. Though I seem to eat a pile of hash browns (with more food piled on top) on each visit, I have to give them props for that dang waffle. That OG lil' basic looking thing is quite good. We were in Gulf Shores for Hangout Festival, along with the 40,000 other concert goers, plus vendors, employees, etc. This town was full to the gills. Enter breakfast on Sunday- Waffle House was ready to feed us, keep us orderly, and smile amongst the potential chaos. Upon entering, we were placed in a very orderly que. While waiting in the que, we were provided menus and a waitress then took out orders and handed us our order/check. We circulated through the line till it was our turn, took a seat, gave the new server our ticket, and shortly we had food. It. was awesome. I would expect a place that specializes in waffles and actually carries the name in the title of the place would have award winning waffles. Not at the Waffle House. The waffle I had was unevenly done, with some areas overdone and some almost undone. I have enjoyed many, many better waffles, including those I prepared at home. Many of the other items I was served were very average at best. Eggs were barely done. Sausage patties were overdone. Toast was average and grits were just average too. Wait staff was efficient and friendly to all. The place was crowded and loud, but it was not an issue. I think you can do better elsewhere for breakfast. Not the worst place, but I would not feel compelled to returned. read more

Came down to Gulf Shores on vacation with my friend, it was around 10pm and Waffle House was open as we were hungry so we decided to stop by to get some food. The sign on their door said to-go orders only which was perfect for us, but as soon as we walked in we were told it was dine in only. We debated and decided to sit down. Took over 30 minutes to have a waitress give us a menu or even greet us with less than 7 people in the restaurant who were already served and eating. Finally when we got our menus our hostess was semi-pleasant, nothing too terrible as she was busy sitting around ignoring us, she took our orders and we asked for a to-go box because the wait took so long. She told us "we're not doing to-go orders but I GUESS I can get you ONE box" despite the sign on the door. We ignored her hostility, and the second she turned away she said "apparently these girls can't read." That was the second we stood up and told her to cancel our order. We were nothing but patient and kind and we got treated that way. We've never had a bad experience at any Waffle House establishment except for this one.
