Now, it's 3 employees in the building. One look like he's asleep or looking down at his phone. Another one is rubbing his eye trying not to go to sleep. And a lady making coffee and clearly seeing me standing at this "ORDER HERE" window. She finally look at me and says "ORDER ONLINE". I mean WTH.... I'm standing here. The restaurant is empty and you tell me to order online. What's the purpose for this window? This is what kills me. Our server was Lana, she was very efficient! They all were an energetic bunch and despite being busy they all were encouraging each other to be happy and helpful. It was a great interaction at a waffle house! The food was yummy and we as a family got our usual orders of cheesy eggs bacon and cinnamon raisin toast, a sausage hash brown bowl and a waffle with chocolate and peanut butter chips! I wanted to call my order in, but no one ever answered the phone so I dragged my tail into the Hapeville location on Virginia Ave & waited patiently to order. It wasn't too packed on this particular Saturday morning, but it was definitely busy. After waiting for about 15 mins at the register for someone to take my order, I finally ordered a Texas Bacon Patty Melt meal w/ a side of grits. It took another 20 mins for the order to be made. This is the only Waffle House where I have ever been treated rudely and it's always by the same person-- the so-called manager or shift leader. A black lady in her late 40s or early 50s. She's there right now at 10:08 AM on November 22, 2022. This time I was waiting for my food, sitting at the counter, and, literally seconds before my food was handed to me, she asked me to move and sit in a chair near the window. I never know how one can rate a chain like McDonald's - they serve greasy comfort food that's not good for you but it's never a risk because you always know that the food will always taste decent. After arriving in our hotel after a long day's flight, we found online that that there were two Waffle Houses along the strip of airport hotels that are opened 24-7 and we picked the one that had better rating on Yelp. The open kitchen looks pretty dirty, as I had already expected, but the service is pretty phenomenal. The lady helping us was friendly and patient as I pored through their plastic sheet of a menu. I was hoping to finally try Fried Chicken and Waffles, but alas that was not on the menu. I was quite disappointed. My boyfriend ordered a sandwich that had beef patty in the middle, aka "Texas bacon patty melt" and I ordered a hashbrown that had everything on it, aka "All the Way." My bf enjoyed his sandwich and I was both awed and scared by the grease surrounding my hashbrown - I knew that I was in for when I ordered it, but I was still nervous about eating it - will my stomach be able to handle oily potatoes covered by white sausage gravy, jalapeno, mushrooms, ham, sauteed onions, diced tomatoes, and processed cheese? If you live in the south you understand how Waffle House is a staple of life here. Wife and I stopped here for breakfast while on a trip. Both got the All Star breakfast. Upgraded to a pecan waffle and large hash browns for each of us. Love that you can customize what you want to add to the hash browns. I got the double covered, smothered and chunked. Wife got double covered, smothered and peppered. Jalapeños were okay, but wife will get the ham chunks next time. Staff was attentive and friendly.
