Waffle House, Havelock N.C. Saturday right before lunch and it was very busy. I was seated right away, coffee was excellent (it always is). Establishment was clean and the staff courteous. I had a breakfast sandwich on Texas toast. A+ food was excellent.

I'm only in NC for the weekend and I've never been to a Waffle House, so this was a must! I wasn't disappointed in my two visits at all! The staff was super friendly. The food was delicious, hot and fresh. It's very affordable as well. Love!

Waffle House is pretty comfortable just being Waffle House. ************************************************************** My Grandpa and I came here for breakfast last week. The place was crowded with happy people and there were 5 people patiently waiting for tables to open up. The service was super-friendly and we had some nice conversation with our waitress as well as another regular. This particular Waffle House was very clean so things have definitely changed since the review someone left in 2008. The first time I ate at Waffle House was at 2am on a road trip to Nashville with a friend. I remember watching a lady with teeth missing cooking my waffle with a cigarette in her mouth. Now things have come a little ways since then. They no longer allow smoking in-house from workers or customers. I personally didn't mind having something that would keep all the self-righteous non-smokers out but as it stands I make the case that Waffle House has enough qualities of its own to keep out people who don't jive with its attitude. A lot of people knock Waffle House. I am pretty adamant about my love for the place and many people respond with an equally adamant dislike. They complain that it's dirty, the food is greasy, or that it's kind of loud. To which I respond, "And...?" Waffle House is pretty comfortable just being Waffle House. It's a place with booths that bring you closer together to the people you're eating with. There's no separation between customers and workers so that you can hear what the workers are talking about and they can hear what you're talking about. You can see your food cooking. You can hear your food cooking. The workers are usually engaged in conversation and sometimes downright enjoying themselves. They usually don't mind you joining in either. Occasionally they're in a tired or bad mood because it's 6am and they've been working since midnight. Okay, I would be too. There's a jukebox in every Waffle House so you can put a dollar in and choose some tunes to play. This is actually kind of fun at 2am on a road trip. Watch out for the Waffle House songs which I think have an old-time charm to them. The workers have heard them so many times they might moan in agony as they hear one start. This is what Waffle House is. People who are all about this, LOVE Waffle House. People who don't stay away. Sounds fine to me. It's nothing new though. People who are themselves end up with people who like them and people who don't. That's how people end up with real friends who like them for who they are. Waffle House has a ton of REAL friends who simply love Waffle House for who and what it is. *I always get a chocolate chip waffle and a coke with cherry syrup. My grandpa gets a waffle with over-easy eggs on top. Everyone who goes here regularly seems to have their own go-to meal.

Servers are nice food was good until I found 2 pieces of hair in my sandwhich. Yuck!!!!Didn't bother finishing the rest of my food or sending it back. Only reason it's getting 2 stars because our server was a sweetheart.

This is the worst Waffle House that I have been to. Do not order food to go, you get tiny portions and it's cold. Do not eat here.

We were here around 9:30 on a Saturday and waited about 40 minutes, but that flew by because we were able to go sit in their coffee/mimosa bar area and wait to be paged. The vibes in both spaces are pretty classic beach diner. It's a relaxed but busy atmosphere. Our waiter was super attentive and kind and we didn't feel rushed despite how busy they were. I had the Land and Sea Benedict, which comes on a giant biscuit and has fried green tomatoes, eggs done your way, shrimp, Cajun gravy, and bacon crumbles. I am particular about biscuits and this one was excellent (soft without being doughy, appropriately crumbly without falling apart). The tomatoes were super crispy without being overly greasy. My over-easy eggs were perfect, as were the shrimp, and the gravy was excellent. The grits I had with it really lived up to their reputation of being smooth and creamy, with no need for butter. My mom had the "Kitchen Sink" omelet, and very much enjoyed it. The ingredients were fresh and nothing was over or under done, which can be hard with such a variety of ingredients. The home fries that came with it were terrifically crispy. I also appreciate that they make their own hot sauce, as well as the mix for their Bloody Mary (which my mom also loved) I enjoyed my peach mimosa and got a kick out of all of the different flavor options. I'd love to explore their lunch menu too. I'll definitely frequent again next time I'm out this way!

My husband loves soul, food and southern cooking, so when we found this restaurant, we were excited? It is a very modest, casual environment. Our server was Debbie, and she was very friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell she is definitely from the south with her thick accent and her southern hospitality! My husband ordered the catfish and collard greens and he said it's the best he's ever had, hands-down! He said the collard greens were melted in your mouth delicious. He also really loved the seasoning on the catfish I ordered The fish and chips. They were catfish nuggets and fresh sliced and fried potato chips. Both were very good! My mother ordered the scallops. She was also very pleased. In addition to our server, we also met Dee. I did not find out what his role was, but I would guess he was a manager or something because he was very knowledgeable and also very friendly. He wanted to find out what we thought of everything and what they might be able to improve upon. The food was delicious, and the staff was the epitome of southern hospitality and comfort! If you love authentic soul food, you need to check this place out!
