It's Waffle House.. you either love it or hate it. I happen to love it! There is some servers that I prefer and some cooks that are my favorite to watch cook because they are so talented on how much multi tasking they do. Food is always good! And seating depends on day and time you go sometimes it is just hard as hell to get a spot but that is also because I am not a big fan of sitting at the counter because I have short legs and I prefer to have my feet touch the ground. We came during brunch rush so it was pretty crowded and busy, but not too loud. Amazingly, we were able to find seats at the counter. Brittney helped us out and was kind all throughout, even apologizing when things were running a bit slow or when a coworker accidentally messed up on one of the orders, even though we knew it was busy and were doing okay! We were honestly served pretty quickly, and were ready to wait but only had to wait just a bit. I got my signature ham, sunny side up eggs, & cheese hash brown bowl and even added biscuits and gravy this time. Although I loved my bowl as usual, I wasn't the biggest fan of the biscuits and gravy -- it tasted slightly stale and a bit flavorless so not my favorite. Never been to one, heard lots of good things. But none of the other things you should know.... Me and a group of seasoned patrons tried out the Waffle House here in Havelock. As soon as we walked in we were punched in the face with a bad odor. Was it bad food? Neglected plumbing? A rotting rodent? I was starting to have doubts but we were all starving and just worked a long hard day... I sat in a booth and looking out the window we could see on the outside ledge of said window was the fecal matter of some animal, very dirty. The floor was sticky the kitchen area was a wreck. Lost my appetite and won't be back. Clean up!!!!! No management or pride I could see anywhere!!! So disappointed, not sure I will try another Waffle House anywhere else. Went at 2 pm march eight 2022....Waitress messed up the order....How hard is a waffle and two eggs sunny side up? Coffee tasted like it was made with tea added. Tables need to be bussed and cleaned. The place was crowded with happy people and there were 5 people patiently waiting for tables to open up. The service was super-friendly and we had some nice conversation with our waitress as well as another regular. This particular Waffle House was very clean so things have definitely changed since the review someone left in 2008. The first time I ate at Waffle House was at 2am on a road trip to Nashville with a friend. I remember watching a lady with teeth missing cooking my waffle with a cigarette in her mouth. Now things have come a little ways since then. They no longer allow smoking in-house from workers or customers. I personally didn't mind having something that would keep all the self-righteous non-smokers out but as it stands I make the case that Waffle House has enough qualities of its own to keep out people who don't jive with its attitude. A lot of people knock Waffle House. I am pretty adamant about my love for the place and many people respond with an equally adamant dislike. They complain that it's dirty, the food is greasy, or that it's kind of loud. To which I respond, "And...?" Waffle House is pretty comfortable just being Waffle House. It's a place with booths that bring you closer together to the people you're eating with. There's no separation between customers and workers so that you can hear what the workers are talking about and they can hear what you're talking about. You can see your food cooking. You can hear your food cooking. The workers are usually engaged in conversation and sometimes downright enjoying themselves. They usually don't mind you joining in either. Occasionally they're in a tired or bad mood because it's 6am and they've been working since midnight. Okay, I would be too. There's a jukebox in every Waffle House so you can put a dollar in and choose some tunes to play. This is actually kind of fun at 2am on a road trip. Watch out for the Waffle House songs which I think have an old-time charm to them. The workers have heard them so many times they might moan in agony as they hear one start. This is what Waffle House is. People who are all about this, LOVE Waffle House. People who don't stay away. Sounds fine to me. It's nothing new though. People who are themselves end up with people who like them and people who don't. That's how people end up with real friends who like them for who they are. Waffle House has a ton of REAL friends who simply love Waffle House for who and what it is. *I always get a chocolate chip waffle and a coke with cherry syrup. My grandpa gets a waffle with over-easy eggs on top. Everyone who goes here regularly seems to have their own go-to meal. read more

We hit up the Waffle House on a Sunday morning, so it was super busy with that "after church crowd." The joint was jumping, but we snagged the last two spaces at the bar. We called trying to place an order for about an hour they never picked up, when we got there it wasn't busy at all and they took forever to take our order and then the cook finally came in from the back and started cooking, I told them about the phone situation and nobody apologized or said why they wouldn't answer, wouldn't recommend this place at all, save your time and drive 10 extra minutes to the next Waffle House, you'll probably save time. read more

The food is AMAZING, the service is TERRIBLE! The servicers there are always awful. We have to ask for refills on our drinks, then get ugly looks when we do like we interrupted there conversation. Today I had a waitress who was very ditsy, she came while we were in the middle of eating our food, left our check ( no big deal) but then asked if we wanted to go boxes, and took the syrup before we had even started on our waffles! I just got up and grabbed another syrup. When we had to wave down someone for a refill, they were all on the other side talking to each other, ignoring customers. I've been here a few times, and for the most part, yuck. First time I go in, I sit at the counter. The glass I got had more waffle batter in and around it than milk, most of the servers were out back or doing whatever, and while I was trying to eat, a employee started doing the dishes, splattering water on me and my food. The Cook "Chris" (longer brown hair middle aged white dude) was beyond rude he completely messed up my order and didn't listen to the waitress(long brown hair kinda short) when she told him my order, she then told him it was a problem and he proceeded to be rude to me and tell me just to throw it out, they threw my food away and didn't offer to remake the wrong items, another waitress that wasn't ours asked if she should ask if I want something else and then the cook told her not to worry about it. I don't know if there is a point in giving this place another bad review, but what the heck, just incase someone is listening. I haven't been to a waffle house in about three years and I didn't want to go then, but it wasn't as bad as this one. I ordered a grilled cheese and hashbrowns with onions and a fountain drink. First, I am not a large portion eater, I can go to Wendy's get the dollar menu chicken sandwich and value fry and not even finish the fry and be full, when I was done eating I was still so hungry, I even ate some of my wife's waffle and a strip of bacon. I get a grilled cheese at sonic and a small fry and I'm good for 4 hours. The waffle houses grilled cheese looked really pitiful and like someone sat on it before serving it. I have also never seen hashbrowns come in sizes, I just ordered hashbrowns, didn't say a size, and the portion was so small. My wife got the all star breakfast and it looked pitiful, for starters it's called the waffle house and this is the biggest best waffle they can produce? It fit and was served on a desert plate not a normal dinner plate. The eggs were small ,heck everything was small. My wife didn't get her coffee until she ate half of her food then had to get up and ask for it. Our waitress only came to the table to take our order and slap the check on the table and ran off never ask if we needed anything else, how our food was, or do we need a refill. They have this deal 15 meals for 5 dollars each, on a small separate menu, one of those items is a bacon grilled cheese and a side of hashbrowns and a beverage, I was charged $4.25 for my grilled cheese then $.45 for onions in the hashbrowns then $1.80 for a drink, what the heck did I order? does anyone else see a problem with that? Minus the bacon add the onions and it's the same thing. And there crappy coffee cost $1.80. Let's just say the waitress lost her tip to bad math and lack of service. Stay in school kids.
