I've always heard of the Waffle House, but of course being up North, we don't have a Waffle House, so I tried it here. This location was fairly small, however I was informed there are some locations that are bigger. The menu is very straight forward with a little over a handful of options. I had tried the "All Star Special" which consisted of two eggs, a waffle , grits & your choice of ham, bacon or sausage. I picked bacon & substituted my grits for hash browns. The food was good. The waffle is a buttermilk waffle & it was fluffy & tasty. Eggs, bacon & hash browns you can't really mess up & they were good as well. I did try their grits with American cheese & that was good as well. I'm not a huge fan of grits, so I typically don't order it because if it's not done correctly with the right amount of cheese (that's the only way I can eat grits other wise it taste like what cardboard would taste like in my head) I won't eat it, but theirs was good. Waffle House is budget friendly & in fact cheaper than some other restaurants that sell breakfast where I live. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because they need to do a better job with how people are being seated. There's no hostess, so if you're looking for a seat, you pretty much take a seat when one becomes available. That can cause some confusion if you don't communicate with others who's waiting. For example, if you're a party of 3 but there is already a party of 3 waiting & a table becomes available, that party would be before you, but how would you know if you don't ask. Typically in restaurants you never have to communicate with others because there's a hostess or someone telling you when to be seated. If they managed that better, it was be a 5 out 5. read more

We've watched a new Waffle House being built really close to our house. In fact, it's on my walking path so I pass it daily. My husband just got home from a long week of work travel and we've been wanting to visit a Waffle House when it first opens so it's super clean and perhaps a different experience from the late night post-drinking night out of my college years. To be fair, I always think of Waffle House as a late night place and not really a breakfast place, but I'm happy to report it is both. We arrived around 7:30. This location opens at 7 am. Not sure if it'll be a 24 hour location but that would be good for nights when I have insomnia. Right now the hours are 7 am to 9 pm. When we arrived it was packed with every swat taken. There was one family ahead of us and the person greeting us said it would be 5-10 minutes. Within a few minutes 2 seats at the bar were open and we were told we could go have a seat. Within a couple of minutes we were greeted and drink orders taken. Iced tea unsweetened for me and coffee and water for my husband. Since it's been a while since I've eaten at a Waffle House, I clarified that I can order anything on the menu. My go to at Waffle House was a patty melt and hash browns scattered, smothered covered and chunked. Since I had a patty melt I decided to change it up a bit and leave off the ham and add jalapeños. It was delicious. My husband got scrambled eggs, raisin toast and hash browns scattered, smothered, chunked and covered. We were both happy with our selections. Drinks weren't refilled automatically, showing the inexperience of our server. My husband only got one cup of coffee and when we asked for a second, it never came. After driving to 3 different Waffle House locations, this one was the only one open close to my house. These employees were able to keep the restaurant open and clean at the same time. The service was impeccable mainly because it was the only service available. Kaycee helped me and she was SO nice and apologetic for the ways Waffle House had let me down as a company. This is also not the first time that the Waffle House on Broad near Glenside was closed and I had to drive over here. This team is professional and on point!!!! read more

Waffle House is good for so many occasions like Breakfast, Lunch, dinner and especially after a night of drinking when you need some greasy food. The staff was on point and super friendly. They had the juke box playing and everyone was in a festive Christmas spirit. When I arrived the place was packed with customers. This is my go-to breakfast spot. It's not very lavish, but it gets the job done. I enjoy their cheese eggs, bacon and waffles. The service isn't superb, but they definitely make you feel welcome when you enter. It's your average diner. It's not immaculate, but it's not as filthy as some Waffle Houses. It's like eating a home cooked meal at your grandmas house. They never disappoint me. read more

I've been here 3 times for breakfast. Service is always great. But aside from that, Waffle House is nothing special. I'd put them below Denny's and IHOP. Waffle House's menu also isn't as large as Denny's and IHOPs, but Waffle House's prices are definitely the lowest. On every visit, I found my food to be bland, greasy or both. I guess you kind of get what you pay for... Lastly, a lot of people have told me that Waffle House is a place you go to when you're drunk. Maybe that's what I need to do next time. Lol. read more

Pros: Great servers, hardworking employees, and generally friendly staff. Cons: Management needs to be nicer to employees. 3rd shift has drunk customers, the chicken, beef, and pork are cooked on the same grill leading to potential cross contamination or allergic reactions from people who don't eat certain meats. First shift cooks seems to be sanitary. However, I did notice an unsanitary cook on second shift place cooked food on the counter versus plating it first which is literally disgusting. Then, plate it and give to the customer. I gained a new prospective of the waffle house. Great salespeople/servers though. That's the 2 stars minus the 3 for everything else!! read more

This is one of the worst Waffle Houses in Henrico. I went to Waffle House the other day and one their racist waitress wouldn't even take my order, she refused to. Before this mishap I trying calling and placing an order this same woman just put me on hold and never came back to the phone. I decided to just drive there and place my order, that when I got there saw first why she did this mess on the phone, another waitress had to take my order she did with no problem. While waiting on my food Ms. Racist came back and told me I couldn't wait for my food sitting at the bar I asked why she told me that is customer?? I told her no one is here?? She goes and get the second racist the manager he come running up to me like he want to fight or that he was going to intimidate me. He tells me to leave and refunded me my money. Wish I could give this place NO STARS. If it had been the first time I'd eaten at a Waffle House, I would never return. Tim, our server, took my order and read it back but somehow managed to keep messing it up when bringing it out. It wasn't complicated. I had to ask multiple times for food items in my order and seriously - EVERY item was wrong or missing entirely. He kept leaving before I could finish asking him anything so it got to the point where I had to ask a question every time he came to the table. It was ridiculous and unnecessary. He simply wouldn't stop long enough to address the problems with my order. Easily one of the greatest dining experiences in general that I've ever had. Not only was the atmosphere so friendly and open, but it had amazingly kind and fun servers to match. The food came out relatively quick, considering it was a completely full house when we came in. The waffles were AMAZING, the hashbrowns were nice and crispy, and the overall experience was just lovely. It made me not want to go to any other waffle house. That jank was a Waffle HOME. read more

I loved waffle house until this day. Food was okay kinda sour but overall okay. But customer service HORRIBLE. I was trying to get a biscuit for my gravy but my waitress was talking to another person who didn't even want any food, their conversation lasted about 15 minutes. Disappointed doesn't begin to describe my experience. I live relatively close to this store and have enjoyed meals there in the past. Today is the second time in the last few woods I've stopped to get breakfast early in the morning, 5:15-5:30 am. The first time the store was completely locked up and obviously closed. This morning, however, all the lights were on and the door was unlocked. I walked in and was promptly told by an employee sitting at the counter playing on her phone that they were closed and didn't open until 7AM. Since when is Waffle House not open for breakfast? Also, who comes into work two hours before opening, unlocks a store, & cuts all the lights on just to tell customers that they're closed? That'll be my last time visiting that store. One of the best places to go for a late night snack!! Get the 2 eggs breakfast. It's only $4 and comes with 2 eggs whatever style you like and a choice of toast or biscuit and a choice of hash browns or grits. Was v delicious and cheap. The service was great also. Look, I never thought I'd be giving the Waffle House a five star review, but hey, if you earn it you earn it. We went in on a Saturday afternoon after me not going to a WH in probably twenty years. I was starving and also romanticizing the hash browns. Everything from the moment we walked in to the moment we left was top notch. April, our server, was friendly, attentive, and warm and got our orders exactly right even though I doctored up those hash browns, and Jason, the cook, did an amazing job and even gave us a few tips on ordering for the future! They were super friendly (and apparently the only people working the restaurant) and they handled all the customers (lots of to-go orders) with professionalism and a lovely attitude. The restaurant was clean and bright and the food was as-ordered and really good. I mean, Waffle House food is what it is, but you can do it great or not and these folks did it great. We had cheese steak melts with hashbrowns and I added jalapenos and mushrooms, whicn I ended up folding into my sandwich (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED), and it was all really great. I've never been to Waffle House. I know, I know... it's unAmerican. I've heard it for years. I always thought Waffle House was only good after a night out partying, but after my visit this morning, I have a realized I was wrong. The door was opened for us with a smile and we were seated right away. When I told him I'd never been there before he suggested that I move to the high top bar so I could get the FULL experience. Our server Stephanie was fantastic. She gave me the whole rundown of how they work. It's like a well oiled machine in there! They don't use monitors, so they call out the orders to the line from the tickets. They have a meat person, an egg person, and then a toast and waffle person. It's small in there but they maneuver around each other with ease. Surprisingly enough, it doesn't seem high stress, and everyone is also pretty laid back. My order was up super fast. The Waffle was so good, and only $3.25. The eggs were cooked just right and they even got my extra crispy hash browns. The coffee kept coming and we waited for nothing. So glad I gave them a go. Came in for dinner because I had a taste for waffles. As soon as I walked in everyone greeted me. I was able to find a somewhat clean table out of many that were not. The waitress was nice, food came out hot and everything was ok. In the middle of me eating the waitress started mopping and continued in the direction of my table.
