If you're looking for 5-star brunch quality, keep driving but, for me and my family, it's a tradition to stop at a WH on the way south. The organized chaos and call-outs never get old and we have NEVER had anything less than spectacular service. Today was a bonus seeing a manager actually in the trenches with her staff and the customer service never faltered. I feel like I need to add ordering EVERY hashbrown mashup on my bucket list (scattered, smothered, covered, chunked, diced, peppered, capped and topped). I arrived here around 3am on a Saturday night while headed home to Greensboro from Chapel Hill. They are located behind the shell gas station. You can easily pass it because you really can't see it from the road. I saw it after I passed it and I had to turn out. Once I arrived and went inside, there was a party of 3 present. I sat at the bar. There were 4 staff persons working that I saw. No one greeted me when I walked in. They did look at me though. After 2 minutes of waiting, the waitress told me she would be with me in a moment. The place was fairly clean, which shows they really hadn't been busy. Waitress came over at 3:06am. I went to order my normal order (Texas bacon cheesesteak melt) and I was told that they didn't have cheesesteak, burgers, or Patties.... What? Lol. It's Waffle House. That's crazy. I didn't even eat. Excellent service, the restaurant was busy but coffee and food still all came out quick. Food was good and my kids loved the waffles.

My husband and I like this Waffle House so much that we choose it over much closer ones in Durham. Very rarely do you have to wait long, if at all, for a table. Sometimes the service is a miss but the past few times that we've gone we've had the same lady and she is excellent (as I write this I am ashamed not to remember her name but will update when we go back, hopefully she's still there!) Despite the name of the brand, I don't think that I have ever had a waffle at the Waffle House, for me it is all about their hash browns. You can get them topped with a slew of options, which just make them all the better. Chili is almost always a must. I have also always liked their patty melts. That along with a double order of hash browns, not only a good meal, but it brings back some great memories (I can almost smell the beer on my breath). I give two stars at this location because I've ate here 5 times the past two weeks and 3 of them were the worst experience I've ever had and two ok experiences. Two times I enter the restaurant where they rope off half the restaurant and make people wait to be seated. What a joke. They get attitude if you even bring it up. Three times my food was terrible and not cooked correctly and one time where waitress argued with me that I got my four eggs but the cook had to step in and tell her she didn't tell them 4 eggs and it was only two. Two times the waitress was nice and food was ok but this location not worth my time. I have been staying here a lot lately making a choice to eat else where. Great place to frustrate you at the beginning of your day. Get some help Waffle House or shut this place down. read more

Came here on our way home from the the Battle of the Bands in Durham at the North Carolina Central University. We popped in here around 8 a.m. on a Friday on the way to Asheville. It wasn't a planned visit, but what interested us on the road. I am SO glad we did! These people are the happiest people on Earth in the happiest place on earth! They had me laughing so hard. Such positive moods, you can tell they love their jobs. Came in here with my sister and her two kids (ages 4 and 2) and the restaurant was so incredibly friendly and accommodating. The hashbrowns are my go to (smothered and chunked, thank you!) and my sister always goes for the hashbrown bowl. Outstanding as usual. What made this place get into 5 star territory was how friendly the manager and our waitress, Jessie, were. Jessie always made sure the kids were happy and consistently checked in on us. This location is very hit or miss depending on what employees are working. I come here every few weeks and my experience depends largely on who's working. Good experience: One of the cooks, a young man who's name I can not remember, is absolutely excellent. He gets my order perfect every single time and checks in to make sure it's correct. The waitresses are usually friendly and talkative, making for a pleasant dining experience. I get my food, eat, chat a little, pay and am on my way. Bad experience: One particular one comes to mind. I came in around lunch time and sat down but all the waitresses were out smoking. I looked at the menu for about 10 min before anyone came in to take a drink order. She got me my water and took my food order. I played on my phone until she brought me my food. I took a bite and went to get a drink of water and as I was sipping it, she snatched it out of my hands and walked away. I was confused and a bit taken aback as she brought me another one - no explanation. Im sure she had a valid reason but it was still rude. I finished my food but when I was done she was out smoking again. I tried to be patient and wait for her to come back but after 15 min I finally went out and got her so I could pay and leave. Horrible experience today. Seemed like a mutiny was brewing amongst the staff. The wait staff were arguing over their table assignments. Once our well-done waffles arrived, the waitress asked if they were too well done and stated, "no one can find the timer since the close down". The highlight of the morning was a cook who sitting down to his own breakfast shouting across the restaurant at another server complaining about his breakfast.. "not enough cheese in the eggs". Perhaps the most serious issue I overheard (and there was no attempt in their part to be discreet), was a waitress complaining to another, "I've taking this abuse for 3 days now, I should have to take this abuse". Server: janikqua Date 10/11/2017 This evening was the worst experience I have ever had at a waffle house in my 20 years of living the girl waiting on Me wrote down my order correct and then read it off skipping what I ordered and did not order then proceeded to take my cup off of the table and leave me drinkless for 38 minutes at that point in time the only time she came back was to drop off the check and doing so she held the check in the air and proceeded to drop it on the table and Heckel and then walked away. She was rude and the person I took to eat with me asked to switch their drink around because the other was water down at that point she rolled her eyes snarled and said "sure" with an aggressive tone and proceeded to walk away for an extensive amount of time without returning with their drink. i have seen a manager drool in a coustemers food at this waffle house. i would have never gone back but my dad wanted me him my bf and step mom to go so i had to. the manager was different. her name was Cherish. she was making sure everyone was doing their work. she made sure every coustemer left happy. she checked up on us 3-4 times. she made sure everyone had drinks. and she made every coustemer feel like they were family. she didnt look like she just crawled out of the dumpster. and the decorations were so creative. she had a smile on her face, she greeted every person who walked in and she made sure that everyone got what they wanted. she put coustemers first. the bathrooms were soooooooooooooooo much cleaner then when i went last time. it didnt smell like urine and the walls wernt yellow.
