Had a taste for breakfast at dinner time. Decided to try out the local Waffle House. This is not a 5 star restaurant, it is the typical greasy spoon. Fast, cheap and nothing fancy. I couldn't eat this type of food everyday but it was filling and didn't cost me an arm and a leg. When we arrived there was only one customer in the restaurant, so we got served very quickly. The customer service was fast and friendly. We had eggs, ham and toast. The food was good and cooked the way we ordered it. The only downside side is that I wish they didn't cook with so much butter. Had to dab the butter off of my ham and eggs with a napkin. When in a pinch and your starving, the Waffle House will fill you up and not break the bank.

My 10 year old daughter texting me telling me she accidentally gave too much money.

A server at this store stole my 10 year old daughters money. My daughter wanted to be independent and go inside to pickup her lunch herself for the first time. She was so excited and nervous, she accidentally gave a $10 bill instead of a $1. The check was $9 and my daughter gave her $19. She texted me saying "I think I gave them too much money and I'm scared to say anything" I went back inside to get her allowance, all the money she had, back. They lied and said it was ones, said it showed on camera but wouldn't let me see. I know for a fact because that was all the money she had, and she came back with a $1 instead of the $10 she should have brought back. After this happened my daughter told me she heard the servers saying "isn't that the girl who works at the laundromats daughter? Doesn't she make a ton of money?" .... I work next door, and I always tip well bc I've been in food and bev for 15 years. I do not make a lot of money, though that isn't their business anyways. They argued with me, until a customer stepped in and gave me $10 because the manager was refusing to admit their mistake. I then called corporate to let them know the situation, they refunded the $10, but when I told them I'd like to speak to somebody to let them know about what the servers said and how it was handled... bc when it comes down to it, it's the principle. I don't care about the money. It's that she stole from my child, talked about my finances, and I was treated as if I was lying. Which... why would I lie about that? Especially if I "make so much money". I tell anyone and everyone what happened and will continue to do so. Honestly I'm just disgusted by the entire team. What was supposed to be something exciting she'd be proud of herself for, turned into an event that she cried over all day. Yall suck.

The infamous "limited menu" for when the power is flickering.

I guess you could say I'm a regular here. You can always count on Waffle House. They never close. I've been here on holidays and days when the area has been under tornado warnings. I've even eaten off the "limited menu" reserved for power outages. My husband and I make reservations and celebrate Valentine's Day here, and the staff goes out of their way to decorate and make everyone feel welcome. The servers are cheerful and if the restaurant is slow, they'll chat with you and these conversations can be fun (I come for lunch and sit at the counter). The clientele is a microcosm of America, and you never know who or what you'll see. The food is typical Waffle House fare. If you're expecting gourmet food, don't go to Waffle House. I typically order a fiesta omelet without the meat and a side of raisin toast. The pecan waffles aren't too bad either. Blueberry waffles are STILL the best, but not on the permanent menu anymore.

This Waffle House on Savannah Highway on James Island is one of my favorite Waffle House locations in the area. Everything here is comfortable and the staff here is very friendly and takes care of the customers. I have had a really good experience every time I have been here no matter the time of day or night and they have been consistent in their quality throughout the years.

I'm glad that I discovered this Waffle House that is so close to where I live. Getting into the parking lot can be tricky -- either you're turning left against a line of traffic or you have to cut through the car wash that's around the corner and come to it from the other side. This is one of the larger WHs I've been to. Very clean and well -lit. The food was, as usual, very good. We had the All-Star breakfast and when I ordered my eggs over well, the cook made them perfectly. So many places (not exclusively WH) just smash eggs flat and leave a hockey puck of a yolk with the whites resulting in being a brown crispy mess. (Yeah, I might be a little picky.) The only reason I'm not rating this location with a 5th star is because one of the waitresses was eating a chocolate chip waffle at the low counter in between waiting on the 3 booths by the windows. Seriously, she would take an order, tell the cook, take a bite, put a waffle on, take a bite, deliver the plates, take a bite, etc. Just not professional in my opinion. I would think that the cooks/servers would have a designated time and place to eat their meals, and not during their shift in front of the customers. We'll be back -- great location and you can't go wrong with the food.

It's a great trendy location on the edge of Park Circle, conveniently has a small parking lot in addition to street parking and a tiny city lot close by, woman owned, and decorated super warm and inviting. So I really really wanted to like this place. Maybe it was the day I chose to go. I used YELP to reserve a spot on the waitlist, and met a friend for brunch before going into Highwater. Maybe they were unusually slammed. I ordered a Buzzed Donut, coffee rubbed bacon, with an over-easy egg on a pop biscuit doughnut with a side of shredded hashbrowns & mocha dip. Sounds amazing and unique! But the one I was served was burnt, hard, and had obviously been sitting under some heat too long and was past the point of being served. I politely brought it to my server's attention both dark coloring, hard texture, and burnt taste were affected, and while she did inquire, the answer was that it was the last one so a re-order was not an option. I was not trying to make a stink to my server or make my friend late to the festival, and they couldn't rush a new item, so I ate around the hard/burnt part politely. When the bill came, the server informed me she took 15 percent off that item. Everyone has off days, and I really wanted to like this place but the more I think about it the crazier it is to think I paid 85 percent of a meal that shouldn't have been served. When I worked in food service, I would have never served an item in this condition. I would have simply apologized that I didn't realize the kitchen was out, taken the item off the bill, and brought a replacement item or dessert at no charge. I had excitedly announced it was my first time trying this place when the server first introduced herself, and I'm just disappointed it wasn't 100 percent wonderful.

My friend had been here several times over the years and suggested we have lunch here. We popped in on a Tuesday early afternoon. The menu offers typical southern fare, and a solid breakfast selection. Nothing super-extraordinary, and everything familiar. Something for everyone in the family. My friend ordered the burger all-in, and I opted for a buffalo chicken wrap. My friend said that the burger was great, but that the home cut potato discs needed to be drained off a little more (they were very greasy). My wrap had real chicken breast, super fresh, lettuce, and tomatoes, but barely any shredded cheese and zero buffalo sauce for that matter. One of the ladies behind the counter, noticed my questioning facial expression, and immediately asked me if I needed something, and kindly brought me a little cup of sauce. I was amazed that they had regular hot tea (being in the south, tea usually means sweet tea, which I'm not a fan of). Our lovely server was on top of our beverages and brought everything so quickly and with a smile! This place was so clean, from the common dining areas to the bathroom! Gotta love that. Unfortunately this place is not wheelchair friendly (tiny bathroom, even difficult for able-bodied and larger-bodied persons to navigate). Also, sides are extra. My wrap was $10.50... surprising that this doesn't include at least a handful of potato chips or fries. Biggest plus? The sweetest staff and great vibes. The ladies really seem to work together well.

The red rice was deeply flavorful, the okra was golden and crunchy, and the pork chop was everything you hope for when you see it on a chalkboard special. Inside, it's a cozy, classic diner setup with a counter lined with barstools and a few booths nearby, then an adjoining dining room with plenty of tables for larger groups. The big daily specials board is a nice touch and adds to the hometown feel. They serve breakfast and lunch only, closing at 2:30 p.m., and from what I saw, breakfast must be worth the early trip. One of my dining partners ordered a hamburger--it looked phenomenal, thick and juicy, and he was more than happy with it. I also noticed a small dessert selection, including red velvet cake, which fit the Southern theme perfectly. Service was excellent--our server was prompt, polite, and attentive, never letting our glasses dip below half full. On the way out, we met the owner, a very pleasant lady who clearly takes pride in the place. Mac's Diner has a large, free parking lot and an atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. I highly recommend it to anyone passing through Holly Hill or anywhere nearby. If I lived closer, I'd be there for breakfast regularly. This is Southern comfort done right.
