I was looking for some comfort food away from the crowd and landed at The Waffle House. This is located on Johns Island just off Highway 17. There is lots of parking available and indoor seating. One thing I love about Waffle House is the warm greeting you receive when you walk through the door. It's like you're family. The restaurant was empty except for us. Our waitress came over and asked if we needed a few minutes, but we were ready to order. My husband and I ordered scrambled eggs, City ham and whole wheat toast without butter. The food came out quickly and the toast did not have butter as per my request! The food was good. The eggs were cooked perfectly and moist. The city ham was a little greasy and I had to pat it with a napkin to absorb some of that. The restaurant was FREEZING cold!! We ate and left. I mentioned to the waitress about how cold it was and she said the air conditioner wasn't working???? What???? There was a cook who was on the phone the whole time we were there and while he was preparing our food. The two waitresses had a lively discussion about their personal lives that I couldn't help but hear. But it's the Waffle House and that is to be expected there. I stopped in with my brother and niece while they were visiting from out of town. Waffle House was on their list of places to eat. I had the sausage egg and cheese melt with hash browns. Wonderful experience at this waffle house and I received a picture perfect all star special as can be seen by the picture. The food was as delicious as it looked! The employees Lanie and Kayata were sweet and funny to talk to. And the store itself was very comfortable. Stopped by Waffle House around 3:15 AM to place an order, and the experience was just disappointing. The young woman working there was sitting where the customers usually sit, with her back turned to the order window. After waiting about 3 minutes, she finally turned around, opened the window, and I told her I wanted to order. She told me I had to wait 30 minutes just to place an order because the cook "had to clean the flat top" before she could take it. I was honestly stunned. I wasn't angry, just really surprised by how unprofessional and careless the response was. I completely understand it's late and working overnight isn't easy, but if you're on the clock, at least show some respect for the job and the customers. Making excuses instead of offering service shows a serious lack of effort and pride in your work. This kind of "I don't care" attitude is exactly what drives people away. Had a taste for breakfast at dinner time. Decided to try out the local Waffle House. This is not a 5 star restaurant, it is the typical greasy spoon. Fast, cheap and nothing fancy. I couldn't eat this type of food everyday but it was filling and didn't cost me an arm and a leg. When we arrived there was only one customer in the restaurant, so we got served very quickly. The customer service was fast and friendly. We had eggs, ham and toast. The food was good and cooked the way we ordered it. The only downside side is that I wish they didn't cook with so much butter. Had to dab the butter off of my ham and eggs with a napkin. When in a pinch and your starving, the Waffle House will fill you up and not break the bank. read more

A server at this store stole my 10 year old daughters money. My daughter wanted to be independent and go inside to pickup her lunch herself for the first time. She was so excited and nervous, she accidentally gave a $10 bill instead of a $1. The check was $9 and my daughter gave her $19. She texted me saying "I think I gave them too much money and I'm scared to say anything" I went back inside to get her allowance, all the money she had, back. They lied and said it was ones, said it showed on camera but wouldn't let me see. I know for a fact because that was all the money she had, and she came back with a $1 instead of the $10 she should have brought back. After this happened my daughter told me she heard the servers saying "isn't that the girl who works at the laundromats daughter? Doesn't she make a ton of money?" .... I work next door, and I always tip well bc I've been in food and bev for 15 years. I do not make a lot of money, though that isn't their business anyways. They argued with me, until a customer stepped in and gave me $10 because the manager was refusing to admit their mistake. I then called corporate to let them know the situation, they refunded the $10, but when I told them I'd like to speak to somebody to let them know about what the servers said and how it was handled... bc when it comes down to it, it's the principle. I don't care about the money. It's that she stole from my child, talked about my finances, and I was treated as if I was lying. Which... why would I lie about that? Especially if I "make so much money". I tell anyone and everyone what happened and will continue to do so. Honestly I'm just disgusted by the entire team. I guess you could say I'm a regular here. You can always count on Waffle House. They never close. I've been here on holidays and days when the area has been under tornado warnings. I've even eaten off the "limited menu" reserved for power outages. My husband and I make reservations and celebrate Valentine's Day here, and the staff goes out of their way to decorate and make everyone feel welcome. The servers are cheerful and if the restaurant is slow, they'll chat with you and these conversations can be fun (I come for lunch and sit at the counter). The clientele is a microcosm of America, and you never know who or what you'll see. The food is typical Waffle House fare. If you're expecting gourmet food, don't go to Waffle House. I typically order a fiesta omelet without the meat and a side of raisin toast. The pecan waffles aren't too bad either. Blueberry waffles are STILL the best, but not on the permanent menu anymore. read more

Everything here is comfortable and the staff here is very friendly and takes care of the customers. I'm glad that I discovered this Waffle House that is so close to where I live. Getting into the parking lot can be tricky -- either you're turning left against a line of traffic or you have to cut through the car wash that's around the corner and come to it from the other side. This is one of the larger WHs I've been to. Very clean and well -lit. The food was, as usual, very good. We had the All-Star breakfast and when I ordered my eggs over well, the cook made them perfectly. So many places (not exclusively WH) just smash eggs flat and leave a hockey puck of a yolk with the whites resulting in being a brown crispy mess. (Yeah, I might be a little picky.) The only reason I'm not rating this location with a 5th star is because one of the waitresses was eating a chocolate chip waffle at the low counter in between waiting on the 3 booths by the windows. Seriously, she would take an order, tell the cook, take a bite, put a waffle on, take a bite, deliver the plates, take a bite, etc. Just not professional in my opinion. I would think that the cooks/servers would have a designated time and place to eat their meals, and not during their shift in front of the customers. I know it's a Waffle House, but just a tiny bit of effort from any of the employees would be appreciated. It was a typical Friday night crowd, busy but not slammed. We sat down at the table, which was still full of dishes from the previous guests. One of the workers came over and started cleaning off the plates, but decided she had something better to do halfway through the cleaning and just walked away. 15 minutes later, we were still sitting at the dirty table waiting to order...we didn't even get a drink order in. There is something particularly nostalgic about eating at Waffle House. Maybe it's the counter top service, the oldie diner style decorations, the servers uniforms, the name tags, watching the grill guy flip burgers, eggs and hash browns or the 60s style coffee mugs with the endless coffee from the servers who serve you your hash browns anyway you like them. Came in on a Saturday morning when there was a short wait, we took a seat as we waited for only about 10 minutes. When it was our turn for a table, the server quickly cleared it off and let us know that we could take a seat. As soon as we sat, Shyann introduced herself with a smile then took our drink order. While she got our drinks we looked over the menu and were ready to order when she came back. After placing our order it was not a long wait before our food came out, it was all good, typical Waffle House fare. At one point while we were eating, Nick came by to check on us and ensure we were enjoying our meal. Overall great experience at a Waffle House full of friendly, smiling staff. read more

Just had to be one of the most disgusting locations I have ever been into I love waffle house I love the food but the entire inside was absolutely disgusting and this was at 6 o'clock in the morning. There was a man sleeping at the counter with his pants around his ankles with his butt cheeks all over the chair and we are supposed to be worried about Cove it 19. The people that were working on 9/13/22 at 10:00 pm are lazy and have no work ethic. My friend and I came in and waited over 20 minutes before we were even offered something to drink. We sat and watched two other groups of people walk in, immediately get helped, and get their food and leave all before we were considered. When asked why other people were helped before us, we got the bullshit excuse that they are "short staffed." There were three people "working"--one cooking, one walking around and texting, and another one outside drinking what looked to be a beer and smoking a cigarette. Blessme seemed extremely agitated at me for even existing within the establishment. After FINALLY taking our order, she was slamming doors, throwing stuff around, and ended up messing up the order in the end. She had a nasty attitude and was extremely unprofessional. I wanted to feel sorry for her since the other two were not helping at all, but I can't feel sorry for someone who treats their customers like such a burden. We were not the only ones treated like this that particular night, either. As soon as she messed up my order, she decided she was just going to close the entire place and quit working altogether. We came to this location because another one turned us away when having literally no customers inside. When we pulled up at that location, the two workers were outside smoking. It's like all Waffle Houses get to make up their own rules and treat their customers however they want to based on how they feel that day. I have been to this location a couple times in the past but came this year for their Valentine's day special. Candles on the tables, heart decorations, a name tag for us. Just a great experience. Our waitress was as sweet as could be. They took extra care to make sure we had a nice experience. The food was pretty darn good as well. My salad was a little old but still decent. My Texas Cheesesteak with bacon(add egg) was delicious. I am coming next year. As far as Waffle Houses go this is one of the better ones. My wife was in Heaven and pretty sure she will be giving this place a 5. She ordered better than me. How can you miss with Waffle, Hash Browns, Eggs, toast, basically everything they serve. Was great seeing Amy Lauren S. there as well. She was the one who turned us on to this Valentine's day thing and she happened to be at the same one and at the same time as us. We tried to stop at Bojangles for a quick late breakfast before a long trip home but they kicked us out saying the dining room was closed because too many of their staff called in on New Years Day. I'm so happy they did because we had a great experience at this Waffle House across the street. We had to wait 20 min to be seated but it was worth it. Our server was Shaiye and she was awesome, super funny joking around and put us all in a good mood. The food was typical Waffle House - yummy greasy and freshly cooked. This location at 3565 Savannah Hwy is usually where I stop in to once a week but today was horrible! I was the only person at the order counter for about 5 minutes as I watched several staff walk past me doing things like grabbing trash from unnecessary places that coud have waited, chatting amoungst themselves and avoiding me.Someone could have said " ma'am someone will be with you in a moment?". I would have been fine with that lie. By now , there is a long line that has formed. Still no one walked over. I started timing myself to see how long it would take for someone to acknowledge the line. It's bad enough that the phones are cut off so you cannot order ahead !! Finally David walked over out of nowhere?? and took my order!! He apologized when I complained & did his best to calm my situation! If the sign says open, expect folks to come ! If you tired & dont want to work, stay home!! if you take the order and clear the line, you can go back to goofing off and getting paid for it. Might be one of the cleaner waffle houses I have been to in my experience. The service was good and the food was more than average for Waffle House standards. I had a couple waffles and a regular coffee and didn't break the bank for a small but filling meal.
