Came in today and ordered two omelettes to go. It nearly cost me $20 for just two omelettes and there was no hashbrowns or toast included. When I got home, I opened up the bag and the omelettes were the smallest omelettes I've ever seen in my life. This is absolutely a rip off for this small portion. It consisted of maybe three eggs at the most. They used to be so big that they couldn't fit in the container now they're extremely small. The side jelly looks huge compared to the omelette. Also, you cannot order omelettes online you have to come in and order them. So it's basically useless to order anything else online if you're trying to order an omelette. read more

We had to try The Waffle House while in Lexington and we were not disappointed. When we walked in the entire crew welcomed us and everyone actually said Hi! Welcome to Waffle House. The food was SO GOOD!!! The food was inexpensive, fast, and really good. Definite comfort food and the waffles were fantastic. Our waitress Beatrice was friendly and attentive, thank you!! I eat at Waffle House a fair amount, and which location I patronize depends on where I happen to be. I had heard this new location on Winchester Road was opening soon, and I had also heard that it was corporately-owned, as opposed to being a franchise store. It is now the nearest Waffle House to my home, though. All of this is merely background to illuminate my mixed thoughts on this Waffle House. It's new. The parking lot has fresh lines and bright paint. Noticably so. That newness extends indoors as well, where the entire restaurant still seems unused. It's not, of course. There was a decent-sized crowd when we stopped in for a Friday morning breakfast. But the tables didn't have a trace of stickiness, and that surprised me. In an older Waffle House, no matter how much they clean, the syrup stickiness lingers in the crevices of the table. Let's address the food first. I have a usual order, no matter the time of day: a grilled cheese, hash browns and a Coke. This trip, I noticed that there's a $6 meal deal that's a bacon grilled cheese with hash browns and a drink. So I went for that. I asked for my hash browns crispy (or "well.") My wife's order varies more than mine, but she always wants her hash browns crispy, but she wants them potato chip crispy. Whether a Waffle House can get an order of crispy hash browns cooked correctly varies a lot by location and the phase of the moon. Sometimes the top is nice and crispy, but there are still nearly raw potatoes underneath. Sometimes it's a nearly burnt potato chip. Well, this Waffle House can do crispy hash browns the right way. They were cooked perfectly. Crispy all the way through without being overdone. Bravo. It remains to be seen whether they can do this consistently, but it's this achievement that earns them the four stars of this review. Now, the service. It was good. I really shouldn't complain. But I will. Waffle House is a diner and friendly wait staff with southern charm is de rigueur. But it almost seems they'd had a corporate training on how to provide that and something was lost in translation. Here's what I mean: it is typical in the south for a waitress to call you "honey" or "hon." Folks from the north might find that weird, but around here, it's acceptably charming. You may get variations. It could be "babe," "baby," or even "pumpkin" if the waitress can pull those off. "Sweetheart" or "sweetie" would certainly work. Our waitress kept calling my wife or me "my love." It was just weird. It is too affectionate of a pet name. Too familiar. And so it just came off a little forced. She even said it like she was remembering from her training to tack it on to the end of a sentence. Not natural at all. There were a couple other confusing service moments. One was when my wife requested Splenda and creamer for her coffee. The waitress clarified that she would bring those separately. She meant that my wife would have to put them in her own coffee... which is so obviously how that works that we were confused and thought she meant she would have to make separate trips to our table to bring the Splenda, then the creamer, as if they were components of a bomb that couldn't be placed in close proximity. Oh, and after we paid, she forgot to hand my wife her credit card back, and had to run out to our car and catch us to give it back. Now, I want to be clear: our waitress was a nice young lady who was clearly trying her best to provide pleasant and efficient service. She did a great job of that. But between over-explaining obvious things and calling us "my love" repeatedly, it just came off kind of strange in a memorable way. I hope this is just corporate-store, newly-trained growing pains. I can stand a weird pet name, though, if it means the Waffle House is clean and my food is cooked perfectly. So I'll be returning to this location. read more

It's a brand NEW corporate owned store right in the middle of hoodville on Winchester Rd. It's on a very very busy road but there is never anyone here! I stopped in to try it out and it's about the same as any other Waffle House. The server was nice but really didn't know what she was doing and billed me out wrong as so many do at the Waffle House. A POS system in Waffle House would pay for itself in no time because an employee with a calculator and a roll of the dice can get you a $2 overcharge or half off depending on the servers ability to decode the menu and do simple math. This place is a close 2nd for breakfast. Their All star breakfast is the best option for around 8 bucks for what you get. You get a waffle, 2 eggs, bacon or sausage and hashbrowns. It's a pretty hardy meal. They have other options like burgers and sandwiches too. They are fast on getting your order taken and getting your food to you. read more

We attend here frequently as it's close to our home. I guess in "hoodville" as someone mention. I have lived all over on the south side prestigious area and stuff goes on over there it's just well hidden...this place is clean and nice never any shady characters in there when we eat family friendly. Okay back to the review. I love this place we are always greeted as soon as we enter. only one time I had to look for a seat they suggested one near the bathroom I said no I will pass. We had a party of 5. We would of been in the way. I have had the same waitress a few times always friendly even offering suggestions. Due to her suggestions she said I won't charge you extra due to her suggesting it. Hard to rate as 1 star. Entered to employee attired staff 8 or so, who never noted our presence... oh yes, we 3 were told to take any available seat after pacing and looking for a clean table. Only at the counter where the staff were gathered chatting and snacking were any clean spots available. My 82 year old Waffle House fan mother had noted she wanted us to go try the New Waffle House 2 mi from her home. We asked for one booth which remained dirty from the long gone diners, and after the silent pause, someone began clearing it, and offered us a seat there. Okay! Then we reviewed menus for perhaps 10 min w/o any intrusion on our privacy. Staff continued hovering and chatting at the dining counter. They seemed to be having a good time. We sat perplexed considering what did we do to offend the staff, no greeting , water , setup or even explanation, while 1 or 2 continued to assist patrons there in other booths waiting. The 6-8 other loitering staff, stood around the counter without interacting with us, as we rose quietly and exited past them, into the parking lot. My old Dad would have said, this could have been a good place for a restaurant, but we were speechless, and stunned, as we left quietly without any question from the New Waffle House in our town. No I took no pictures. Yes I reviewed the menu. But otherwise, there was no restaurant open there for customers. But employees seem to have a good gig. Disappointing to say the least. Saw a co-worker come in with a waffle breakfast sandwich! Waffle as the bread eggs bacon cheese....great idea. Called this location and ordered so I could come pick it up.....im at work mind you. I get there and They are lost. The cook has a bacon and cheese on wheat about to go on waffle iron and says I cant put egg on the iron? Me: where's the waffle? Oh I thought you wanted bread. This store is awful. No one wants to greet you, no one wants to wait on you. All the employees want to do is stand in a huddle and gossip. The manager can't be older then 25 and clearly has no idea what she is doing. There's a young dude who I suppose is 'head hancho' around there who always seem to be "overly friendly" so much so that I can tell he's fake. I visited twice, thought maybe it was the "newness of it" but no it's terrible. The first time we visited we had a African American girl who we thought would be great because she was smiling so big, yeah that smiles a front. She had the nastiest attitude of anyone person I've ever met. She was plain rude. The second time we returned we steered clear of the first server and got a sweet young mother of 4 or 5. She was amazing. But both times we got no greet and set for a minute before we we're addressed. Both times Mr. Fake was roaming from table to table. I WILL not be going back to this waffle house!!!
