We visited due to the dog friendly reviews. They have a nice patio outside with a bar that has indoor and outdoor seating. We enjoyed the beers on tap and ordered the fried dill pickle chips (lots of breading) a hot dog (it's their namesake) and chicken club. The food was ok, but nothing stood out. We stopped in with our family today. 6 adults and 1 child during the UK basketball game. We were immediately seated at a large high top table in front of the jumbo tv. It was perfect. I ordered 12 of the Gene's Crunchy Wings with Smokin' Hot and Thai Garlic sauces for dipping. The Smokin' Hot was the better of the two. I also ordered Homemade Onion Rings to share. I went to Double Dogs last night for the first time with my wife during Happy Hour. We were seated as soon as we came in. Our waiter was very attentive the enire time we were there. Note that only appetizers are half price during Happy Hour not drinks. My wife had a Chardonnay and I had a Yuengling on Draft. Both were fine. For our appetizer we had the sausage Queso and for our meal we split an entree of 12 bone in wings with the Honey Chipotle BBQ. The sausage queso was very good, really thick queso it was almost as thick as gravy. We both liked it. The wings came out with a heavy coating of the sauce which I really liked. The only thing that I didn't care for was the amount of TVs going all at once but it is a sports bar. We were seated inside they do have generous seating outside where you can bring your dog with you. Overall we liked it and will go back. I like the environment here for watching NFL on Sundays. Except for the wooden stools. Uncomfortable as hell. But they have lots of TVs so you can watch all the games. I was sad to learn that the table speaker they used to offer is no more. That company went out of business. It was cool as you could get sound for the game you want. But not anymore. Not their fault. Does have a neat fire pit dining patio but it was winter so we sat near the bar, the soils are not comfortable and kind of awkward to sit on for a whole dinner especially with no place to put jackets or anything. The fries were just ok , some were way too hard for some reason. They are the smaller shoe string type and might have been old or overcooked but we got a whole extra order bc my date ordered a wrap and didn't realize it didn't come with fries when asked. Needless to say to say way too many fries that were all wasted due to hard not fresh taste. He enjoyed his chicken wrap though which was quite large. Overall maybe a great spot for a beer n watching a game but not a good date spot as it is very loud and crowded. The food was outstanding. Definitely recommend the onion rings (add salt), the double fried wings were epic as were the hamburgers. The menu is huge including salads, sandwiches, hotdogs, hamburgers, etc. Their shoestring fries are so GOOD!! A full bar is also present. Outdoor patio allows dogs so bring your pups along for the meal. Our waiter, Charles, was the best! Great service without being around too much. Very family friendly spot. We ordered takeout from Double Dogs after a recommendation from the hotel we were staying at for a dinner place. For the price of menu items it just was not much to write home about. The salad lacked flavor with their ranch and with these huge pieces of cucumber that was bigger than the lettuce. Both southern fried chicken salads also had a lot of lettuce that was wilting/browning. It did not feel fresh with the looks of the lettuce. The wings were not as crisp as one would hope especially ordered naked. We also ordered the Bo burger which was very plain. This place seems like a great hangout spot, but really lacks flavor. Disappointing. If you're a devotee of sports bars, Double Dogs may be just the thing. It boasts 26 television screens plus a wall of TVs at the end of the main room. No matter where you look, there's sports. I went more for the food, which was decent if overpriced. The service also missed the mark. My server came over quickly after I sat down and offered a beverage but when I asked for a small draft, he said, "We only have 22 oz. drafts." I opted for a 12-oz bottle of Bud Light. Though it was not his call or fault, not even having pints of their craft taps available seems like a miss. Looking over the menu, I saw a good selection of dogs, burgers, pizzas and other items, but the chili cheese dog appealed to me the most. My server took quite a while to get back to me but when he did, I ordered: A fat Hebrew National dog topped with chili and cheese (hold the onions) on a nice toasted bun. What could be wrong with that? Not much ... except the price. $11.99 for what was honestly no better than a Coney at a Sonic Drive-In. Bigger and with a kosher dog, but no better. It came with my choice of a side, and I ordered the Cole slaw, which was also disappointing. My server had told me it was made with Thousand Island dressing so no surprise there. What was surprising is that it had none of the vinegary tang I'd been looking forward to. When it came time for the bill, I had my wallet out and was ready to give him my credit card but I got a "drive-by": he set the bill on the table then walked away without a moment's hesitation. It would literally have taken five seconds for me to hand him my credit card. As a result, I put down a $20 bill and left, which meant a smaller tip than the 20% I'd have left, even considering the "meh" service. I go to restaurants -- even a sports bar -- primarily for the food and to be waited on like a welcome guest, so I doubt I'll be back. read more

Just passing through town, it was a welcome change from a monotonous drive through corn field after corn field. In this part of Lexington, KY there were a lot of restaurant choices. I think I made a good one! Had the chicken ruben sandwich with a local brew. It was a lager beer that was aged in bourbon barrels with vanilla beans. THAT was a spectacular beer! However, its a long drive from NC to get another one. All in all, a pleasant experience. They closed at 9:00 which made me the very last patron in the restaurant as they were putting up the chairs. We were wanting to try something different and decided to give Double Dogs a try. I had the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger which had tangy BBQ sauce, hickory smoked bacon, American cheese, Tillamook cheddar cheese and grilled onions on top of a single beef patty. For my side I tried the coleslaw and added a side of onion rings. The burger was juicy and the BBQ sauce was flavorful, but the burger really didn't have much of a taste. It was ok, but not an 'oh wow, I'm coming back and getting this again' type of burger. I'm not sure what was in the cole slaw. It has a reddish tint, but I'll just say my wife and I both took one bite of it and left the rest to be thrown away. It had a very weird flavor and was not cold. My wife had the Fat Boy Hebrew National Chili Dog. It was a large dog on a bun covered with chili and cheese. I tried a bite of it and neither of us were impressed. Mainly because the chili had cinnamon in it which just isn't our preference for chili. If you like cinnamon chili, you may like the dog. In my opinion, cinnamon just doesn't belong in chili -- or on a chili dog. Its hard to mess up a chili dog, but they did. The best part of the meal were the homemade onion rings. However, once again Double Dogs messes up something that should be delicious by adding smoked tomato to their horseradish. Come on guys, keep it simple. Just the horseradish please. This isn't some fancy fru-fru restaurant that makes weird food. You're a sports bar. Leave the cinnamon out of the chili, the tomato out of the horseradish, and whatever mystery ingredient in your coleslaw. This could have been a good meal, but you missed it. Next door to them is Drakes. Needless to say next time I'm in the area, I'll go to Drakes and have a much better meal without all the weird stuff. My suggestion is to pass this place by. There are too many other restaurants in the area with much better food. I guess this explains why your parking lot and restaurant was about emlty! read more

11/22/20 I came here for a dinner date and was beyond ecstatic that something was still open especially with the new regulations set up by governor Andy. This restaurant practiced every safety precaution with the distancing and their employees wore masks and the kitchen staff had gloves on. I ordered the stroganoff Mac and cheese and my date ordered the Buffalo Mac and cheese. We both enjoyed our meals. I also ordered a hoppy beer and then had a New York sour made and the bartender took great care of us. 10/10 would return here. The service is great and the food was phenomenal. This place also allows service dogs and will allow you to sit outside with your dogs if you come through with your pets. My boyfriend and I called about 30 minutes ahead to ask if we could bring our service dog in training up there for social training. The manager on duty was very nice and accommodating toward us when we walked in we felt very welcomed. For example, they tried to put us at a high top table and it is difficult for me to climb up on those high barstools. We asked for a smaller table with smaller chairs and they did that right away for us. Our server. Tonya was absolutely lovely and we absolutely adored her. She was very sweet and on top of her game and everything she did she did with a smile, we talked to the Manager's personally after we got there and thanked them for allowing us to bring in our dog. The dressing was so good and had extra feta cheese in it. The toppings were plentiful on the salad and I liked that there was a lot of spinach in the salad mix. Happy hour is Monday-Friday 3-7 PM.
