Great and super quick service. My cheesy eggs hit the spot and my friend enjoyed his breakfast. The restaurant is super clean and they're following the Covid safety rules well.

    My "large" hash browns to-go

Love Waffle House but need to expect everything but excellence when eating here. I ordered 2 large hash browns to-go and they put them in the bag sideways... needless to say neither look like a "large" hash brown. Really disappointing when the food can be so good.

I gave this 4 stars because 3.5 wasn't an option. The food was decent, but the atmosphere left a lot to be desired. === === === === Like any Waffle House, this one serves up breakfast, lunch & dinner items 24-hours a day. I've had burgers and waffles, but my go-to here is the Cheese & Eggs platter. You get scrambled eggs with cheese, hashbrowns, a breakfast meat, and raisin toast. I asked for a large (double) order of hashbrowns covered (with cheese), and crispy bacon. I received my food as I ordered it, except the large hashbrowns had a small covering of cheese, and the toast was regular white instead of raisin. No biggie - I didn't fuss about it. The food was tasty and I was hungry, so I ate it. Once the food was delivered, the waitress asked if we needed anything else and after we said no she went back to talking with the other waitress. It was slow. However, their posteriors were in our faces the entire meal and they were chatty about some personal things happening via social media. Which, I'd like to add, kept buzzing and beeping on her phone every time she received a message. It must have been something interesting! Anyway, by this time, she needed a cigarette to calm her nerves so she stepped out to smoke while her coworker stayed on her phone trolling social media. Upon her return, she proceeded to read her what she missed and they laughed. What I didn't miss was the fact that the waitress that just came in from smoking didn't wash her hands. 1. That's gross, and 2. That's against health department code. Oh well... I already had my food. On my way out, I looked for the health department score to snap a photo but it was so oddly placed and bear someone eating that I didn't take a photo. They did, though, receive a 98 score from what I could see. Kudos.

Why advertise carry-out business when no one actually answers the phone? Guess I will go to one of the many other breakfast houses in town.

The hash browns were a little dry and had no seasoning but that taste wasn't bad.

This visit marked our third time at OBC Kitchen, and once again, it did not disappoint. This time we experimented with timing and booked an early reservation at 2:45 pm on a Saturday. We crossed over into the dinner menu and discovered something wonderful: the service and ambiance were even better than the busier evening hours after 6 pm. The staff was exceptionally attentive. Every dish and cocktail option was explained thoughtfully, which I appreciate, especially because I enjoy cocktails that come with a bit of theater. When drinks are presented with care, described well, and executed beautifully, the experience becomes part performance, part craft. Here, they delivered perfectly. The food, as always, was superb. We shared several chef selections including Beef Tallow Fries, Southern Grouper, Bacon in a Glass, and the Cola-Braised Short Ribs. Each dish was rich, flavorful, and confidently executed. Dessert continued the celebration with the Churro Cheesecake, and to our delight we were also gifted the Warm Buttermilk Donuts, which felt like a small act of culinary generosity. In a departure from my usual Manhattan and Old Fashioned flights, I tried a Bloody Mary and The Cure, both excellent and beautifully balanced. At this point I can confidently say OBC Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in the country. The consistency, creativity, and hospitality make every visit memorable. A special thank you to the team who took care of us on Saturday, March 7th, 2026. You elevated an already wonderful experience and made it even better than usual.

Southern Cookhouse features scratch-made dishes using local ingredients, a variety of burgers, pizzas, and classic Southern entrees. I started with the Chicken & Sausage Gumbo because I love soup and all soup-adjacent things. The gumbo had a good, rich flavor from the roux, with subtle heat and a sweet finish. The chicken had a nice flavor, a little saltiness, and it was tender. The Andouille sausage was cooked well and rounded out the flavor profile. The tomatoes and scallions added brightness and crunch. The rice had a few hard pieces, but overall it was good. I do want to mention that I did find a few chicken bones in the dish, just so people are aware. My wife tried the Dunwoody Cobb, made with Grilled chicken breast, boiled eggs, bacon, avocado, tomato, and blue cheese crumbles, with spring mix tossed in Dijon vinaigrette. The lettuce was crunchy and fresh. The bacon had a great salt level, crunch, and crispiness. The avocado added a creamy richness to each bite, while the tomato's acidity cut through the Dijon mustard's sweet and bitter notes. The star of the show was the salty, nutty, creamy blue cheese crumbles, which meshed well with all the other components. The chicken was cooked well and had good flavor, but it was dry. While I avoided it, my wife said the boiled egg was well-cooked and added it to the salad. I had the Nashville Hot chicken, which comes with spicy pickles, coleslaw & mayo on slider rolls with potato salad. The potato salad was mustard-and-mayo-based. The potatoes were soft but still offered some texture. The mustard and mayo balanced each other and added flavor. There were eggs in the potato salad, but they blended into the background and did not stand out. The sweet pickle relish added crunch and texture without being overly sweet. I'm not sure if it was made in-house or from a container; it was good nonetheless. The slider was fresh, soft, and nicely toasted. The slaw was medium-chopped, with a great mayo ratio and a good sweetness, tasting fresh, crunchy, and creamy without being so rich as to drown out the vegetables or the chicken. The pickle was not spicy, but a thick-cut bread-and-butter type with a little sweetness and a velvety, buttery flavor. The chicken was juicy, tender, and cooked well. The Nashville-style spices were mild to medium, just enough to know it was there but not so overpowering that it was all you tasted. It was not overly oily either, which often plagues sandwiches of this type. The entire sandwich worked well together. Southern Cookhouse has a full menu, but some items do rotate or are seasonal. The bar is fully stocked, offering draft beer, tea, and soft drinks. They offer counter ordering, and the staff is very friendly. The Fat Man says that Southern Cookhouse & Bar is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins.
