Me and my family came here for breakfast, my wife just did her weigh in for her competition and made weigh and never been to Waffle House. It was delicious and a satisfying meal. So good and glad we came in for breakfast and enjoying the beautiful weather and food in Alabama

Waffle House interior. Sorry, no food pics.

We had a small wait (standing room only) but it was less than 10 minutes. Party of 5. We ordered: 3 chocolate chip waffles Side of bacon Side of sausage patties Side of cheesy scrambled eggs Scrambled egg plate Chicken melt plate - scattered, smothered & covered 2 Cokes 3 Waters Although short staffed, our server took good care of us. The food was good but the sausage patties weren't great. Overall, it's hard to mess up Waffle House. Our total was $59.45 including a $10 tip.

The clean Waffle House that we ordered food from after being fucked over by the last one.

Desiree greeted us like we were the very people she hoped to see that day then handed us off to Keen who was even friendlier. I'm gluten-intolerant so Keen quickly grabbed a GF menu for me. I ended up ordering ala carte and was very satisfied. Brought my husband home a sweet roll bigger than his head. He's loving it! Just an all-around great experience. When I receive service like that I know there must be an awesome management team keeping everyone so happy! Keep up the good work, Desiree and Keen!

Apparently it is not important enough to service staff to understand what is like to have someone in your party that has a food allergy. The most important thing, is to have the ability to empathize with your guests, and make their experience a good one. If there is an issue with cross contamination in your kitchen, then create an area in the kitchen solely to address those with food allergy needs. For example, when your customer tells you the sprite has no flavor, you don't just come back and tell them it looks fine to me and everything is hooked up. Try tasting it yourself and at least bring a new cup of it to the table. Don't come back empty handed. Then there was the Crab Cakes. After all of the seafood places I have been to in the southeast I found these crab cakes to be just so so. If you are going to deep fry them, please understand that the crab meat will turn to the consistency of tuna salad and is not pleasant to eat whatsoever. Perhaps skip the breading/deep fry and pan fry them instead? While the breading on the crab cake was crisp and delicious, it was a little off setting to have mushy crab on the inside. Again, this was a beautiful venue with a great view. I am troubled by the lack of attention to detail, especially when it comes to addressing your guests.

Once we were seated, we waited almost 10 minutes before our waiter showed up, and he didn't seem too happy about it. We were only given food menus, so we asked for the liquor list. He neglected to bring the Happy Hour list, so we had to ask for that. It was all very time consuming. Now we were as irritated as our waiter. We ordered drinks and when they finally arrived, my husband's Gin and Tonic was just tonic water. So, the circle continued. We eventually got around to ordering food from the Happy Hour menu. We had the Bang Bang Shrimp, the Southwest Egg Rolls and Chicken Tacos. I can't say we were thrilled with any of them. The shrimp was the best of the bunch, and they were mediocre. The Southwest Egg Rolls were overcooked and, oddly enough, had no flavor. The small tacos contained very lightly seasoned chicken and lettuce. There was no salsa or any other condiments. We looked forward to dining here; however, it was a disappointing visit for us.

Even though they have a pretty small menu, similar to most golf club restaurants offer, the Lost Key Restaurant (now known as Grille 625 at Lost Key Golf Club) has a slightly larger menu than normal. The Lost Key Burger (made as a smash burger) is my go-to lunch when I am looking for something that is filling, fast, and affordable. They have a full bar, including liquor, wine, tap or can beers, and fountain or canned sodas. They also will run lunch specials fairly regularly as well as dinner specials from time to time. The staff here has always been great, whether it's the bartender or chefs. There has been some turnover in staff recently, but both the old and new staff are great. Lexi is one of our new favorite bartenders during the week and Victoria is our favorite Sunday Brunch bartender. If you want to try out a high quality golf club restaurant, check out Lost Key Restaurant.

My advice, find a seat, have someone order at the order window, then head to the bar to order drinks. The wait to order food took about a half hour. It was very quick to get our drinks. We were able to snag a couch area on a platform. It was so comfy and we loved the views. A heads up- if you snag a couch like this, kids will get up on the platform and jump off of it. People will step up on the platform and walk extremely close to you. I had to ask a kid to stop throwing sand by us because we were eating our dinner. It was a little chaotic. We were extremely patient and understand, but I could see some people being very upset and annoyed. After ordering, our food came out pretty quick. I started with the coconut grouper bites and they were phenomenal. Light breading, lightly sweat, and flaky. I had the Gulf Grilled Cobia and it was phenomenal. The fish was tender, flaky, and light. No fishiness at all. The sauce on the fish was also delightful. My husband and son had the fajita skewers and both enjoyed them. My husband also had the peel and eat shrimp and said they were amazing at The Gulf. Our drinks were okay. We had better drinks at other places during the week, but they weren't bad. We would return, but try to come on an off-time that wasn't so busy.
